< Mak 1 >
1 Mmalite oziọma maka Jisọs Kraịst, Ọkpara Chineke.
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God.
2 Dịka e dere ya rịị nʼakwụkwọ Aịzaya onye amụma sị, “Aga m ezipu onyeozi m nʼihu gị, onye ga-edozi ụzọ gị.”
As it is written in Isaiah the Prophet, "Behold, I send my messenger before thee, who shall prepare thy way:"
3 “Otu onye na-eti mkpu nʼọzara, na-asị, ‘Dozienụ ụzọ maka Onyenwe anyị, meenụ ka okporoụzọ ya guzozie.’”
"The voice of one proclaiming in the wilderness, Prepare a way for the Lord, make for him a straight passage:"
4 Jọn omee baptizim pụtara na-eme baptizim nʼọzara, ma na-ekwusa baptizim nke nchegharị maka mgbaghara mmehie.
thus came John immersing in the wilderness, and publishing the immersion of reformation for the remission of sins.
And all the country of Judea, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, resorted to him, and were immersed by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 Uwe Jọn yi nʼahụ ya bụ nke e ji ajị ịnyịnya kamel mee. O kekwara ihe okike e ji akpụkpọ anụ mee nʼukwu ya. Nri ya bụ igurube na mmanụ aṅụ.
Now John's clothing was of camel's hair, tied around his waist with a leather girdle: and he lived upon locusts and wild honey.
7 O kwusara sị: “Onye dị ike karịa m na-abịa nʼazụ m. Onye m na-erughị ihudata ala tọpụ eriri akpụkpọụkwụ ya.
And he proclaimed, saying, One mightier than I comes after me, whose shoe-latchet I am unworthy to stoop down and untie.
8 Eji m mmiri na-eme unu baptizim, ma ọ ga-eji Mmụọ Nsọ mee unu baptizim.”
I, indeed, have immersed you in water; but he will immerse you in the Holy Spirit.
9 Nʼoge ahụ, Jisọs sitere na Nazaret nke Galili bịa nʼosimiri Jọdan, ebe Jọn mere ya baptizim.
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee to the Jordan, and was immersed by John.
As soon as he arose out of the water, he saw the sky part asunder, and the Spirit descend upon him like a dove.
11 Otu olu si nʼeluigwe daa, “Ị bụ Ọkpara m hụrụ nʼanya, ihe gị dị m ezi mma.”
And a voice from heaven, which said, Thou art my Son, the beloved, in whom I delight.
12 Ngwangwa, Mmụọ Nsọ duuru ya baa nʼime ọzara.
Immediately after this, the spirit conveyed him into the wilderness;
13 Ọ nọkwara nʼime ọzara ahụ iri ụbọchị anọ, ebe ekwensu nwara ya ọnwụnwa. Ya na ụmụ anụ ọhịa nọkwa. Ma ndị mmụọ ozi jeere ya ozi.
and he continued in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan; and was among the wild beasts; and the heavenly messengers ministered to him.
14 Mgbe e tinyesịrị Jọn nʼụlọ mkpọrọ, Jisọs gara na Galili, na-ekwusa oziọma Chineke.
But after John's imprisonment, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good tidings of the Reign of God.
15 Ọ sịrị, “Oge ahụ eruola, alaeze Chineke dị nso. Chegharịanụ ma kwerekwanụ nʼoziọma.”
The time, he said, is accomplished, the Reign of God approaches; reform, and believe the good tidings.
16 Mgbe Jisọs na-aga nʼakụkụ osimiri Galili, ọ hụrụ Saimọn na Andru nwanne ya, ka ha na-awụnye ụgbụ ha nʼime mmiri nʼihi na ha bụ ndị ọkụ azụ.
Then walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew, Simon's brother, casting a drag net into the sea, for they were fishers.
17 Jisọs siri ha, “Bịanụ soro m, m ga-emekwa unu ndị ọkụ na-akụta mmadụ.”
Jesus said to them, Come with me, and I will cause you to be fishers of men.
Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
19 Mgbe ọ gatụrụ nʼihu nke nta, ọ hụrụ Jemis nwa Zebedi na nwanne ya bụ Jọn ndị nọ nʼime ụgbọ mmiri, na-ekezi ụgbụ azụ ha.
Passing on a little, and seeing James, son of Zebedee, with John his brother, who were mending their nets in a bark,
he immediately called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the bark with the hired servants, they accompanied him.
And they went to Capernaum; and on the Sabbath he repaired directly to the synagogue, and instructed the people,
who were filled with admiration at his manner of teaching; for he taught as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Ma nʼotu oge ahụ, otu nwoke nọ nʼime ụlọ ekpere ahụ nke mmụọ na-adịghị ọcha bi nʼime ya, tiri mkpu nʼoke olu,
Now there was in their synagogue a man possessed with an unclean spirit, who cried out,
Ah! Jesus of Nazareth, what hast thou to do with us? Art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25 Ma Jisọs baara ya mba sị ya, “Mechie ọnụ sikwa nʼime ya pụta!”
Jesus rebuking him, said, Be silent, and come out of him.
26 Mmụọ ahụ na-adịghị ọcha seere ya, mee ka ahụ ya maa jijiji, o tiri mkpu nʼoke olu, ma sikwa nʼime ya pụta.
Then the unclean spirit threw him into convulsions; and, raising loud cried, came out of him:
27 Ha niile bụ ndị nọ nʼọnọdụ ihe iju anya ma na-ajụrịtara onwe ha ajụjụ sị, “Gịnị bụ nke a? Ozizi ọhụrụ ya na ikike! Ọ na-enye ọ bụladị mmụọ na-adịghị ọcha iwu. Ha na-erubekwara ya isi.”
at which they were all so amazed, that they asked one another, What does this mean? For he commands with authority even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.
28 Akụkọ banyere ya gbasara ngwangwa ruo akụkụ niile nke Galili.
And thenceforth his fame spread through all the region of Galilee.
29 Ngwangwa ha hapụrụ ụlọ ekpere ahụ, ha na Jemis na Jọn soro banye nʼụlọ Saimọn na Andru.
As soon as they were come out of the synagogue, they went with James and John into the house of Simon and Andrew,
30 Nʼoge a, nne nwunye Saimọn dina nʼakwa ndina. Ahụ ọkụ jikwa ya. Ha mere ka ọ mata banyere ya.
where Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, of which they immediately acquainted Jesus.
31 Ọ gakwuru ya, jide ya nʼaka selite ya elu. Ahụ ọkụ ahụ hapụrụ ya. Ọ malitekwara ile ha ọbịa.
And he came, and taking her by the hand, raised her; instantly the fever left her, and she entertained them.
32 Nʼoge uhuruchi, mgbe anwụ dara, ha kpọtaara ya ndị niile ahụ na-esighị ike na ndị mmụọ ọjọọ bi nʼime ha.
In the evening, after sunset, they brought to him all the sick, and the demoniacs;
33 Obodo ahụ niile gbakọrọ nʼọnụ ụzọ.
the whole city being assembled at the door.
34 Ọ gwọrọ ọtụtụ ndị bu ọrịa dị iche iche, ọ chụpụkwara ọtụtụ mmụọ ọjọọ ma o kweghị ka mmụọ ọjọọ ndị ahụ kwuo okwu nʼihi na ha matara onye ọ bụ.
And he healed many persons affected with various diseases, and expelled many demons, whom he permitted not to speak, because they knew him.
35 Nʼisi ụtụtụ, mgbe ọchịchịrị ka gbachiri, o biliri, ga ebe ọ ga-anọrọ onwe ya, naanị ya. Nʼebe ahụ kwa ka ọ nọ kpee ekpere.
On the morrow, having risen before dawn, he went out, and retired to a solitary place, and prayed there.
And Simon and his company went in quest of him,
and having found him, said to him, Every person seeks you.
38 Ọ zaghachiri ha sị, “Ka anyị gaanụ ebe ọzọ, nʼobodo ndị ọzọ dị anyị gburugburu, ka m zisakwaara ha oziọma. Ọ bụ nʼihi nke a ka m ji bịa.”
Jesus said, Let us go to the neighboring boroughs, to make proclamation there also: for I came out with this design.
39 Ya mere, ọ pụrụ jegharịa na Galili niile na-ekwusa oziọma nʼụlọ ekpere ha niile, na-achụpụkwa mmụọ ọjọọ.
Accordingly he proclaimed in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and expelled demons.
40 Otu onye ekpenta bịakwutere ya gbuo ikpere nʼala rịọọ ya sị, “Ọ bụrụ na ị chọrọ, ị pụrụ ime ka m dị ọcha.”
And a leper came to him, and on his knees entreated him, saying, If you will, you can cleanse me.
41 Ebe o jupụtara nʼọmịiko, Jisọs setịpụrụ aka ya metụ ya sị, “Achọrọ m, dị ọcha!”
Jesus had compassion, and stretching out his hand and touching him, said, I will, be you clean.
42 Ngwangwa ekpenta ya hapụrụ ya, e mekwara ka ọ dị ọcha.
This he had no sooner uttered, than the leprosy departed from the man, and he was cleansed.
Then Jesus strictly charging him, and dismissing him,
44 ọ gwara ya sị, “Hụkwa na ọ dịghị onye ọbụla ị ga-agwa ihe a. Kama gaa gosi onye nchụaja onwe gị. Chụọkwa aja dị ka Mosis nyere nʼiwu, maka ime ka ị dị ọcha gị, ka ọ bụrụ ihe ama nye ha.”
said, See you tell nothing of this to any man; but go, show yourself to the priest; and offer for your cleansing the things prescribed by Moses, that it may be notified to the people.
45 Ma ọ pụrụ malite ịkọsa akụkọ banyere ọgwụgwọ ya ebe niile. Nʼihi ya Jisọs enwekwaghị ike ịbanye nʼobodo, kama ọ gara nọrọ nʼebe zoro ezo. Ma ndị mmadụ na-abịakwutekwa ya site nʼebe niile dị iche iche.
But the man, as soon as he was gone, began to blaze this story, talking openly everywhere, insomuch that Jesus could no longer publicly appear in the city; but remained without in solitary places, whither the people resorted to him from all parts.
