< Mak 1 >
1 Mmalite oziọma maka Jisọs Kraịst, Ọkpara Chineke.
Beginning of the glad tidings of Jesus Christ, Son of God;
2 Dịka e dere ya rịị nʼakwụkwọ Aịzaya onye amụma sị, “Aga m ezipu onyeozi m nʼihu gị, onye ga-edozi ụzọ gị.”
as it is written in [Isaiah] the prophet, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way.
3 “Otu onye na-eti mkpu nʼọzara, na-asị, ‘Dozienụ ụzọ maka Onyenwe anyị, meenụ ka okporoụzọ ya guzozie.’”
Voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of [the] Lord, make his paths straight.
4 Jọn omee baptizim pụtara na-eme baptizim nʼọzara, ma na-ekwusa baptizim nke nchegharị maka mgbaghara mmehie.
There came John baptising in the wilderness, and preaching [the] baptism of repentance for remission of sins.
And there went out to him all the district of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem, and were baptised by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 Uwe Jọn yi nʼahụ ya bụ nke e ji ajị ịnyịnya kamel mee. O kekwara ihe okike e ji akpụkpọ anụ mee nʼukwu ya. Nri ya bụ igurube na mmanụ aṅụ.
And John was clothed in camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins, and ate locusts and wild honey.
7 O kwusara sị: “Onye dị ike karịa m na-abịa nʼazụ m. Onye m na-erughị ihudata ala tọpụ eriri akpụkpọụkwụ ya.
And he preached, saying, There comes he that is mightier than I after me, the thong of whose sandals I am not fit to stoop down and unloose.
8 Eji m mmiri na-eme unu baptizim, ma ọ ga-eji Mmụọ Nsọ mee unu baptizim.”
I indeed have baptised you with water, but he shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit.
9 Nʼoge ahụ, Jisọs sitere na Nazaret nke Galili bịa nʼosimiri Jọdan, ebe Jọn mere ya baptizim.
And it came to pass in those days [that] Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptised by John at the Jordan.
And straightway going up from the water, he saw the heavens parting asunder, and the Spirit, as a dove, descending upon him.
11 Otu olu si nʼeluigwe daa, “Ị bụ Ọkpara m hụrụ nʼanya, ihe gị dị m ezi mma.”
And there came a voice out of the heavens: Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I have found my delight.
12 Ngwangwa, Mmụọ Nsọ duuru ya baa nʼime ọzara.
And immediately the Spirit drives him out into the wilderness.
13 Ọ nọkwara nʼime ọzara ahụ iri ụbọchị anọ, ebe ekwensu nwara ya ọnwụnwa. Ya na ụmụ anụ ọhịa nọkwa. Ma ndị mmụọ ozi jeere ya ozi.
And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.
14 Mgbe e tinyesịrị Jọn nʼụlọ mkpọrọ, Jisọs gara na Galili, na-ekwusa oziọma Chineke.
But after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom of God,
15 Ọ sịrị, “Oge ahụ eruola, alaeze Chineke dị nso. Chegharịanụ ma kwerekwanụ nʼoziọma.”
and saying, The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God has drawn nigh; repent and believe in the glad tidings.
16 Mgbe Jisọs na-aga nʼakụkụ osimiri Galili, ọ hụrụ Saimọn na Andru nwanne ya, ka ha na-awụnye ụgbụ ha nʼime mmiri nʼihi na ha bụ ndị ọkụ azụ.
And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew, [Simon's] brother, casting out a net in the sea, for they were fishers.
17 Jisọs siri ha, “Bịanụ soro m, m ga-emekwa unu ndị ọkụ na-akụta mmadụ.”
And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will make you become fishers of men;
and straightway leaving their trawl-nets they followed him.
19 Mgbe ọ gatụrụ nʼihu nke nta, ọ hụrụ Jemis nwa Zebedi na nwanne ya bụ Jọn ndị nọ nʼime ụgbọ mmiri, na-ekezi ụgbụ azụ ha.
And going on thence a little, he saw James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, and these [were] in the ship repairing the trawl-nets;
and straightway he called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, they went away after him.
And they go into Capernaum. And straightway on the sabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught.
And they were astonished at his doctrine, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Ma nʼotu oge ahụ, otu nwoke nọ nʼime ụlọ ekpere ahụ nke mmụọ na-adịghị ọcha bi nʼime ya, tiri mkpu nʼoke olu,
And there was in their synagogue a man [possessed] by an unclean spirit, and he cried out
saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God.
25 Ma Jisọs baara ya mba sị ya, “Mechie ọnụ sikwa nʼime ya pụta!”
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace and come out of him.
26 Mmụọ ahụ na-adịghị ọcha seere ya, mee ka ahụ ya maa jijiji, o tiri mkpu nʼoke olu, ma sikwa nʼime ya pụta.
And the unclean spirit, having torn him, and uttered a cry with a loud voice, came out of him.
And all were amazed, so that they questioned together among themselves, saying, What is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.
28 Akụkọ banyere ya gbasara ngwangwa ruo akụkụ niile nke Galili.
And his fame went out straightway into the whole region of Galilee around.
29 Ngwangwa ha hapụrụ ụlọ ekpere ahụ, ha na Jemis na Jọn soro banye nʼụlọ Saimọn na Andru.
And straightway going out of the synagogue, they came with James and John into the house of Simon and Andrew.
30 Nʼoge a, nne nwunye Saimọn dina nʼakwa ndina. Ahụ ọkụ jikwa ya. Ha mere ka ọ mata banyere ya.
And the mother-in-law of Simon lay in a fever. And straightway they speak to him about her.
31 Ọ gakwuru ya, jide ya nʼaka selite ya elu. Ahụ ọkụ ahụ hapụrụ ya. Ọ malitekwara ile ha ọbịa.
And he went up to [her] and raised her up, having taken her by the hand, and straightway the fever left her, and she served them.
32 Nʼoge uhuruchi, mgbe anwụ dara, ha kpọtaara ya ndị niile ahụ na-esighị ike na ndị mmụọ ọjọọ bi nʼime ha.
But evening being come, when the sun had gone down, they brought to him all that were suffering, and those possessed by demons;
33 Obodo ahụ niile gbakọrọ nʼọnụ ụzọ.
and the whole city was gathered together at the door.
34 Ọ gwọrọ ọtụtụ ndị bu ọrịa dị iche iche, ọ chụpụkwara ọtụtụ mmụọ ọjọọ ma o kweghị ka mmụọ ọjọọ ndị ahụ kwuo okwu nʼihi na ha matara onye ọ bụ.
And he healed many suffering from various diseases; and he cast out many demons, and did not suffer the demons to speak because they knew him.
35 Nʼisi ụtụtụ, mgbe ọchịchịrị ka gbachiri, o biliri, ga ebe ọ ga-anọrọ onwe ya, naanị ya. Nʼebe ahụ kwa ka ọ nọ kpee ekpere.
And rising in the morning long before day, he went out and went away into a desert place, and there prayed.
And Simon and those with him went after him:
37 Ma mgbe ha hụrụ ya, ha sịrị ya, “Mmadụ niile na-achọgharị gị!”
and having found him, they say to him, All seek thee.
38 Ọ zaghachiri ha sị, “Ka anyị gaanụ ebe ọzọ, nʼobodo ndị ọzọ dị anyị gburugburu, ka m zisakwaara ha oziọma. Ọ bụ nʼihi nke a ka m ji bịa.”
And he says to them, Let us go elsewhere into the neighbouring country towns, that I may preach there also, for for this purpose am I come forth.
39 Ya mere, ọ pụrụ jegharịa na Galili niile na-ekwusa oziọma nʼụlọ ekpere ha niile, na-achụpụkwa mmụọ ọjọọ.
And he was preaching in their synagogues in the whole of Galilee, and casting out demons.
40 Otu onye ekpenta bịakwutere ya gbuo ikpere nʼala rịọọ ya sị, “Ọ bụrụ na ị chọrọ, ị pụrụ ime ka m dị ọcha.”
And there comes to him a leper, beseeching him, and falling on his knees to him, and saying to him, If thou wilt thou canst cleanse me.
41 Ebe o jupụtara nʼọmịiko, Jisọs setịpụrụ aka ya metụ ya sị, “Achọrọ m, dị ọcha!”
But Jesus, moved with compassion, having stretched out his hand, touched him, and says to him, I will, be thou cleansed.
42 Ngwangwa ekpenta ya hapụrụ ya, e mekwara ka ọ dị ọcha.
And as he spoke straightway the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.
And having sharply charged him, he straightway sent him away,
44 ọ gwara ya sị, “Hụkwa na ọ dịghị onye ọbụla ị ga-agwa ihe a. Kama gaa gosi onye nchụaja onwe gị. Chụọkwa aja dị ka Mosis nyere nʼiwu, maka ime ka ị dị ọcha gị, ka ọ bụrụ ihe ama nye ha.”
and says to him, See thou say nothing to any one, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing what Moses ordained, for a testimony to them.
45 Ma ọ pụrụ malite ịkọsa akụkọ banyere ọgwụgwọ ya ebe niile. Nʼihi ya Jisọs enwekwaghị ike ịbanye nʼobodo, kama ọ gara nọrọ nʼebe zoro ezo. Ma ndị mmadụ na-abịakwutekwa ya site nʼebe niile dị iche iche.
But he, having gone forth, began to proclaim [it] much, and to spread the matter abroad, so that he could no longer enter openly into the city, but was without in desert places, and they came to him from every side.
