1 Mgbe ụbọchị ole na ole gafesịrị, ọ bataghachiri na Kapanọm. Ndị mmadụ nụrụ na ọ lọghachila.
After some days He entered Capernaum again, and it soon became known that He was at home;
2 Igwe mmadụ zukọtara nʼime ụlọ ahụ nke mere na ohere afọdụghị ọ bụladị nʼọnụ ụzọ. O kwusakwaara ha oziọma.
and such numbers of people came together that there was no longer room for them even round the door. He was speaking His Message to them,
3 Ndị ikom ụfọdụ buteere ya otu nwoke ahụ ya kpọnwụrụ akpọnwụ. Ọ bụ mmadụ anọ bu ya.
when there came a party of people bringing a paralytic--four men carrying him.
4 Ebe ha na-enweghị ike ibutere ya Jisọs nʼihi igwe mmadụ, ha gwupuru oghere nʼelu ụlọ ebe ahụ ọ nọ. Mgbe ha gwupusiri ya, ha budatara onye ahụ ahụ ya kpọnwụrụ akpọnwụ nʼute o jiri dina.
Finding themselves unable, however, to bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they untiled the roof just over His head, and after clearing an opening they lowered the mat on which the paralytic was lying.
5 Mgbe Jisọs hụrụ okwukwe ha, ọ sịrị onye ahụ ahụ ya kpọnwụrụ akpọnwụ, “Nwa m nwoke, agbagharala gị mmehie gị.”
Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are pardoned."
6 Ma ụfọdụ ndị ozizi iwu nọdụrụ ala nʼebe ahụ na-eche nʼime obi ha sị,
Now there were some of the Scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts.
7 “Gịnị mere onye a ji na-ekwulu Chineke? Onye pụrụ ịgbaghara mmehie ma ọ bụghị naanị Chineke?”
"Why does this man use such words?" they said; "he is blaspheming. Who can pardon sins but One--that is, God?"
8 Ngwangwa Jisọs matara nʼime mmụọ ya na ha na-atule okwu a nʼime obi ha. Ọ sịrị ha, “Gịnị mere unu ji na-eche ihe dị otu a nʼobi unu?
At once perceiving by His spirit that they were reasoning within themselves, Jesus asked them, "Why do you thus argue in your minds?
9 Olee nke ka mfe: ọ bụ ịgwa onye a akụkụ ahụ ya kpọnwụrụ akpọnwụ, ‘A gbagharala gị mmehie gị niile,’ ka ọ bụ i sị, ‘Bilie chịrị ute gị jegharịa?’
Which is easier?--to say to this paralytic, 'Your sins are pardoned,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your mat, and walk?'
10 Ma igosi unu na Nwa nke Mmadụ nwere ikike nʼụwa ịgbaghara mmehie.” Ọ sịrị onye ahụ akụkụ ahụ ya kpọnwụrụ akpọnwụ,
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to pardon sins" --He turned to the paralytic, and said,
11 “Ana m asị gị, bilie, chịrị ute gị laa nʼụlọ gị.”
"To you I say, 'Rise, take up your mat and go home.'"
12 O biliri, chịrị ute ya pụọ nʼihu mmadụ niile. Nke a juru ndị niile nọ nʼebe ahụ anya. Ha toro Chineke na-asị, “Anyị ahụbeghị ihe dị otu a mbụ!”
The man rose, and immediately under the eyes of all took up his mat and went out, so that they were all filled with astonishment, gave the glory to God, and said, "We never saw anything like this."
13 Emesịa, Jisọs pụrụ gaa nʼakụkụ osimiri ahụ. Igwe mmadụ bịakwutere ya. Ọ malitere izi ha ihe.
Again He went out to the shore of the Lake, and the whole multitude kept coming to Him, and He taught them.
14 Mgbe ọ na-aga nʼihu, ọ hụrụ Livayị nwa Alfiọs ka ọ nọdụrụ ala nʼụlọ ịnakọta ụtụ. Ọ sịrị ya, “Soro m,” o biliri sooro ya.
And as He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the Toll Office, and said to him, "Follow me." So he rose and followed Him.
15 Mgbe ọ na-eri nri uhuruchi nʼụlọ Livayị, ọtụtụ ndị ọna ụtụ na ndị mmehie soro ya na ndị na-eso ụzọ ya nọrọ ebe ahụ, nʼihi na ndị na-esogharị ya dị ọtụtụ.
When He was sitting at table in Levi's house, a large number of tax-gatherers and notorious sinners were at table with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many such who habitually followed Him.
16 Mgbe ndị ozizi iwu nke ndị Farisii hụrụ ya ka o so ndị mmehie na ndị ọna ụtụ na-eri nri, ha jụrụ ndị na-eso ụzọ ya sị, “Gịnị mere o ji eso ndị mmehie na ndị ọna ụtụ na-erikọ nri?”
But when the Scribes of the Pharisee sect saw Him eating with the sinners and the tax-gatherers, they said to His disciples, "He is eating and drinking with the tax-gatherers and sinners!"
17 Mgbe ọ nụrụ nke a, Jisọs sịrị ha, “Mkpa dibịa adịghị akpa ndị ahụ dị ike, kama ọ bụ ndị ahụ na-esighị ike. Abịaghị m ịkpọ ndị ezi omume kama ndị mmehie.”
Jesus heard the words, and He said, "It is not the healthy who require a doctor, but the sick: I did not come to appeal to the righteous, but to sinners."
18 Nʼoge a, ndị na-eso ụzọ Jọn na ndị Farisii na-ebu ọnụ. Ndị mmadụ bịara jụọ ya sị, “Gịnị mere ndị na-eso ụzọ Jọn na ndị na-eso ụzọ ndị Farisii ji ebu ọnụ, ma ndị nke gị adịghị ebu ọnụ?”
(Now John's disciples and those of the Pharisees were keeping a fast.) And they came and asked Him, "How is it that John's disciples and those of the Pharisees are fasting, and yours are not?"
19 Jisọs sịrị ha, “O kwesiri na ndị a kpọrọ oriri ọlụlụ di na nwunye ga-ebu ọnụ mgbe onye na-alụ nwunye ọhụrụ nọ nʼetiti ha? Ha apụghị ibu ọnụ ogologo oge ya na ha nọ.
"Can a wedding party fast while the bridegroom is among them?" replied Jesus. "So long as they have the bridegroom with them, fasting is impossible.
20 Ma oge na-abịa mgbe a ga-ewepụ onye na-alụ nwunye ọhụrụ. Nʼụbọchị ahụ ka ha ga-ebu ọnụ.
But a time will come when the Bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast.
21 “Ọ dịghị onye na-eji akwa ọhụrụ kwachie ebe akwa ochie siri dọkaa. Ọ bụrụ na o mee nke a, akwa ọhụrụ ahụ ga-adọkapụ site na nke ochie mee ka ndọka ya dị njọ karịa.
No one mends an old garment with a piece of unshrunk cloth. Otherwise, the patch put on would tear away from it--the new from the old--and a worse hole would be made.
22 Ọ dịghị onye na-agbanye mmanya ọhụrụ na karama akpụkpọ ochie. O mee nke a, mmanya ahụ ga-agbawa karama akpụkpọ ochie ahụ, mee ka karama na mmanya laa nʼiyi. Ee, a na-agbanye mmanya ọhụrụ nʼime karama akpụkpọ ọhụrụ.”
And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the wine would burst the skins, and both wine and skins would be lost. New wine needs fresh skins!"
23 Otu ụbọchị izuike, ya na ndị na-eso ụzọ ya na-agafe nʼubi a kụrụ ọka. Dị ka ha na-agafe, ndị na-eso ụzọ ya malitere ịghọ ụfọdụ ogbe ọka nʼime ọka ndị ahụ.
One Sabbath He was walking through the wheatfields when His disciples began to pluck the ears of wheat as they went.
24 Ndị Farisii siri ya, “Lee, gịnị mere ha ji na-eme ihe megidere iwu nʼụbọchị izuike.”
So the Pharisees said to Him, "Look! why are they doing what on the Sabbath is unlawful?"
25 Ma ọ sịrị ha, “Unu agụtaghị ihe Devid na ndị so ya mere mgbe agụụ gụrụ ha?
"Have you never read," Jesus replied, "what David did when the necessity arose and he and his men were hungry:
26 Nʼoge Abịata bụ onyeisi nchụaja, ọ banyere nʼụlọ Chineke taa achịcha e chere nʼihu ya, nke ziri ezi na ọ bụ naanị ndị nchụaja kwesiri ịta ya. O nyetụkwara ndị ya na ha so.”
how he entered the house of God in the High-priesthood of Abiathar, and ate the Presented Loaves--which none but the priests are allowed to eat--and gave some to his men also?"
27 Mgbe ahụ, ọ gwakwara ha sị, “E mere ụbọchị izuike maka mmadụ, emeghị mmadụ maka ụbọchị izuike.”
And Jesus said to them: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath;
28 Ya mere, Nwa nke Mmadụ bụ Onyenwe ọ bụladị ụbọchị izuike.
so that the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
