1 Abalị abụọ tupu e mee Mmemme Ngabiga na mmemme achịcha na-ekoghị eko, ndịisi nchụaja na ndị ozizi iwu nọkwa na-achọ ụzọ aghụghọ ha ga-esi jide Jisọs gbuo ya.
NOW the passover and the feast of unleavened bread were but two days distant; and the chief priests, and the scribes, sought how they might seize him by craft, and kill him.
2 Ma ha kwuru sị, “Ọ gaghị abụ nʼoge mmemme a, ka ọgbaaghara ghara ịdị.”
But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be a commotion among the people.
3 Ka ọ nọdụrụ nʼoche nri na Betani nʼụlọ Saimọn onye ekpenta, otu nwanyị bu karama alabasta mmanụ otite dị oke ọnụahịa, nke e jiri ezigbo naad mee, batara. Ọ kụwara karama ahụ, wụsa ya mmanụ otite ahụ nʼisi.
And when he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, a woman came, having an alabaster vase of ointment, of genuine spikenard, of vast value: and breaking the vase, she let it flow down upon his head.
4 Ụfọdụ ndị nọ nʼebe ahụ were iwe nke ukwuu. Ha sịrịtara onwe ha, “Gịnị mere e jiri laa mmanụ otite nke a nʼiyi otu a?
And there were some who felt indignation within themselves, saying, Wherefore is this waste of the ointment made?
5 A gaara ere mmanụ otite a ihe karịrị narị denarị atọ, were ego e retara ya nye ndị ogbenye.” Ha baara ya mba nʼolu ike.
For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and given to the poor. And they bitterly murmured against her.
6 Ma Jisọs sịrị, “Hapụnụ ya aka. Gịnị mere unu ji esogbu ya? Ọ bụ ezi ọrụ ka ọ rụrụ nʼebe m nọ.
Then said Jesus, Let her alone; why give ye her uneasiness? she hath performed a laudable act towards me.
For the poor ye have always with you, and when ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
8 O mere ihe o nwere ike, ọ na-ete m mmanụ otite a ugbu a iji kwado ahụ m maka olili a ga-eli ya.
What was in her power she hath done; she has seized the opportunity to anoint my body beforehand for burial.
9 Nʼezie, ana m agwa unu, nʼebe ọbụla a ga-ekwusa oziọma a nʼụwa niile, ọrụ a ọ rụrụ ka a ga-akọkwa akụkọ ya, iji cheta ihe ọma a o mere.”
Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached through the whole world, there shall, what she hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
10 Mgbe ahụ Judas Iskarịọt, otu nʼime ndị ozi iri na abụọ ahụ jekwuuru ndịisi nchụaja ịgba izu otu ọ ga-esi rara ya nye ha nʼaka.
Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, that he might betray him unto them.
When they heard it, they rejoiced, and promised to give him a sum in silver. And he watched how opportunely he might deliver him up.
12 Nʼụbọchị mbụ nke Mmemme achịcha na-ekoghị eko, mgbe ha na-achụ aja atụrụ ngabiga, ndị na-eso ụzọ ya bịakwutere ya sị ya, “Ebee ka ị chọrọ ka anyị gaa kwadoro gị ihe, maka oriri ngabiga?”
And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare for thee to eat the passover?
And he sent two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water, follow him.
14 Ebe ọbụla ọ banyere, sịnụ onyenwe ụlọ ahụ, Onye ozizi sịrị, Olee ụlọ ọbịa a kwadoro m, ebe mụ na ndị na-eso ụzọ m ga-anọ rie oriri ngabiga?
And where he enters, say to the master of the family. That the teacher saith, Where is the dining-room, where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
15 Ọ ga-egosi unu otu ọnụụlọ buru ibu nʼelu ụlọ ahụ, ebe e dozichara ihe niile. Kwadoonụ ihe anyị nʼebe ahụ.”
And he will shew you a large upper room ready furnished: there make preparation for us.
16 Ndị na-eso ụzọ ya pụrụ baa nʼime obodo, ha hụrụ ihe niile dị ka ọ gwara ha. Ma kwadokwa nri ngabiga ahụ.
And his disciples went out, and came into the city, and found as he had spoken to them; and they made ready the passover.
And when it was evening he came with the twelve.
18 Mgbe ha nọ na-eri nri, Jisọs gwara ha sị, “Nʼezie agwa m unu, otu onye nʼime unu ga-arara m nye. E, otu onye so m ugbu a na-eri nri!”
And as they sat at table, and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I tell you, That one of you, who is eating with me, shall betray me.
19 Ha bidoro inwe obi mwute, na-asị ya nʼotu nʼotu, “Ọ bụ m? Ọ bụ m?”
And they began to be very sorry, and to say to him, one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
20 Ọ sịrị ha, “Ọ bụ otu onye nʼime mmadụ iri na abụọ a. Onye mụ na ya na-amanyekọta aka nʼime otu efere.
But he answering said to them, It is one of the twelve, who is dipping his hand with me into the dish.
21 Nwa nke Mmadụ ga-ala dị ka e dere banyere ya. Ma ahụhụ ga-adịrị nwoke ahụ onye a ga-esite nʼaka ya rara Nwa nke Mmadụ nye. Ọ gaara akara onye ahụ mma ma a sị na a mụghị ya amụ.”
The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him; but wo to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been desirable for that man if he had never been born.
22 Dị ka ha na-eri nri, o weere achịcha, nye ekele, nyawa ya, nye ha sị, “Rienụ ya, nke a bụ ahụ m.”
And as they were eating, Jesus taking a loaf, when he had blessed, brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
23 Mgbe ahụ, o buuru iko, nye ekele bunyekwa ha. Ha niile ṅụrụ site nʼotu iko ahụ.
And taking the cup, when he had given thanks, he gave it to them; and they all drank out of it.
24 Ọ sịrị ha, “Nke a bụ ọbara m nke ọgbụgba ndụ ọhụrụ, nke a na-awụfu nʼihi ọtụtụ mmadụ.
And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25 Nʼezie, nʼezie, agwa m unu, agaghị m aṅụ mmanya vaịnị ọzọ tutu ruo ụbọchị ahụ, mgbe m ga-aṅụ ya ọhụrụ nʼalaeze Chineke.”
Verily I say unto you, That I will henceforth no more drink of the produce of the vine, until that day when I shall drink it new in the kingdom of God.
26 Mgbe ha bụsịrị abụ, ha pụrụ gaa nʼUgwu Oliv.
And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.
27 Jisọs sịrị ha, “Unu niile ga-agbahapụ m, nʼihi na e dere ya otu a sị, “‘Aga m etigbu onye ọzụzụ atụrụ, igwe atụrụ ga-agbasasịkwa.’
And Jesus saith to them, All ye will be offended at me this night; for it is written, “I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be dispersed:”
28 Ma mgbe e mesịrị ka m si nʼọnwụ bilie, aga m ebu unu ụzọ gaa Galili.”
but after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
29 Pita kwuru, “Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ niile agbahapụ gị, agaghị m eme otu a.”
Then said Peter unto him, Though all should be offended, yet will not I.
30 Jisọs sịrị ya, “Ịgwa gị eziokwu, nʼụbọchị taa, nʼabalị taa, tupu oke ọkụkụ akwaa akwa ugboro abụọ, ị ga-agọnarị m ugboro atọ.”
And Jesus saith to him, Verily I tell thee, That to-day, in the course of this very night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt thrice deny me.
31 O kwusịrị ike sị, “Ọ bụrụkwa na ihe ọnwụ adapụta, aga m eso gị nwụọ. Agaghị m agọnarị gị!” Ọ bụkwa otu ihe ahụ ka ha niile kwuru.
But he said with more vehement assertion, Though I should die with thee, yet would I in no wise deny thee. And they all spake also in the same manner.
32 Ha pụrụ garuo ebe a na-akpọ Getsameni. Nʼebe ahụ, ọ sịrị ndị na-eso ụzọ ya, “Nọdụnụ nʼebe a ka m gaa kpee ekpere.”
And they come to a place called Gethsemane, and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here whilst I shall pray.
And he taketh Peter, and James, and John, with him; and he began to be filled with horrible dread, and to be sunk under dejection of spirit:
34 Ọ sịrị ha, “Ọ na-ewute mkpụrụobi m nke ukwuu ruo nʼọnụ ọnwụ. Nọdụnụ nʼebe a na-eche nche.”
and he saith to them, My soul is deeply afflicted even to death: abide here, and watch.
35 Ọ gatụrụ nʼihu daa nʼala kpee ekpere, sị, ọ bụrụ na ọ ga-ekwe mee ka oge awa ahụ gabiga ya.
And he went a little farther forward, and fell on the earth, and prayed, that if it were possible the hour might pass from him.
36 O kwuru sị, “Abba, Nna, ị pụrụ ime ihe niile. Napụ m iko a, ma otu ọ dị, ọ bụghị ka e mee uche m, kama ka e mee uche gị.”
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; remove this cup from me, nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
37 Ọ bịara hụ ha ka ha na-arahụ ụra. Ọ sịrị Pita, “Saimọn, ị na-arahụ ụra? Ọ bụ na ị nweghị ike iche nche otu awa?
And he came and found them asleep: and saith unto Peter, Sleepest thou? hast thou not strength to watch with me a single hour?
Watch ye and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
39 Ọ pụkwara ọzọ, gaa kpee ekpere, na-ekwukwa otu okwu ahụ.
And again he went away, and prayed, speaking the same sentence.
40 Mgbe ọ lọghachiri azụ ọ hụrụ na ha na-arahụ ụra, nʼihi na anya ha dị arọ nke ukwuu. Ha amakwaghị ihe ha ga-agwa ya.
And when he returned, he found them again sleeping; for their eyes were weighed down: and they knew not what to answer him.
41 Mgbe ọ lọghachiri nke ugboro atọ, ọ sịrị ha, “Unu ka nọ na-arahụ ụra na-ezukwa ike? O zuola! Oge awa ahụ abịala. Lee, a rarala Nwa nke Mmadụ nye nʼaka ndị mmehie.
Then the third time he cometh, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and repose: it is enough, the hour is come; lo! the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners;
42 Bilienụ! Ka anyị gawa! Lee, onye na-arara m nye nọ nso.”
arise, let us go; behold, the traitor approaches me.
43 Mgbe ọ ka kpụ okwu nʼọnụ, Judas, otu nʼime ndị ozi iri na abụọ ahụ batara, ya na igwe mmadụ, ndị ji mma agha na mkpọ. Ọ bụ ndịisi nchụaja, na ndị ozizi iwu, na ndị ode akwụkwọ, na ndị okenye ndị Juu zitere ha.
And immediately, while he was yet speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came up, and a great multitude with him, with swords and staves, from the chief priests, and scribes, and elders.
Now he that betrayed him, had given them a countersign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he, seize him, and lead him off safely.
45 Ngwangwa o jekwuuru Jisọs, sị ya, “Onye ozizi!” ma sutukwa ya ọnụ.
And coming, he immediately drew up to him and said, Rabbi, Rabbi, and kissed him.
46 Ndị ikom ahụ jidere Jisọs ma sekpụrụ ya nʼike.
Then they laid their hands on him, and seized him.
47 Ma otu onye nʼime ndị guzo nʼebe ahụ, mịpụtara mma agha ya, gbuo ohu onyeisi nchụaja, gbupụ ntị ya.
And one particular person of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
48 Jisọs sịrị ha, “Abụ m onyendu nke ndị na-enupu isi nke mere unu ji were mma agha na mkpọ bịa ijide m?
And Jesus addressing them said, Are ye come out as against a robber, with swords and staves, to apprehend me?
49 Ụbọchị niile ka mụ na unu nọ mgbe m na-ezi ihe nʼụlọnsọ ukwu, ma unu ejideghị m. Ma ihe akwụkwọ nsọ kwuru aghaghị imezu.”
Daily was I with you in the temple teaching, and ye laid no hold upon me: but this is done that the scriptures might be fulfilled.
50 Mgbe ahụ, ha niile hapụrụ ya gbalaga.
Then they all deserting him, fled.
And a certain youth followed him, having a linen cloth wrapped round his naked body; and the young men laid hold of him;
and leaving the linen cloth behind, he fled naked from them.
53 Ha duuru Jisọs gakwuru onyeisi nchụaja, ha niile bụ ndịisi nchụaja, na ndị okenye na ndị ozizi iwu zukọrọ nʼebe ahụ.
And they led Jesus unto the high-priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests, and the elders, and the scribes.
54 Pita sooro ha, ma ọ nọ nʼebe dị anya. O sooro ha bata nʼobi onyeisi nchụaja. Nʼebe ahụ, o sooro ndị nche nọdụ ọdụ na-anya ọkụ.
And Peter followed him at a distance, until he came into the palace of the high-priest: and was seated with the servants, and warming himself at the fire.
55 Ndịisi nchụaja na ndịisi ikpe nʼụlọikpe ukwu nọ na-achọ ama megide Jisọs, ka ha nwee ike gbuo ya. Ma ọ dịghị nke ha chọtara.
Then the chief priests, and the whole sanhedrim, sought for witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death; yet found none.
For many bore false witness against him, and their attestations did not correspond.
And certain persons rising up, bore false witness against him, saying,
58 “Anyị nụrụ mgbe o kwuru sị, ‘Aga m akwatu ụlọnsọ ukwu a nke e ji aka wuo, nʼụbọchị atọ aga m ewukwa ụlọ ọzọ, nke a na-ejighị aka wuo.’”
We have heard him affirm, I will destroy this temple made with hands, and after three days I will build another not made with hands.
59 Ọ bụladị na nke a, ama ha niile adakọtakwaghị nʼotu.
But even then their testimony was not correspondent.
60 Mgbe ahụ, onyeisi nchụaja biliri ọtọ nʼihu ha, jụọ Jisọs ajụjụ sị, “Ọ bụ na ị nweghị ihe ọbụla ị ga-aza? Gịnị ka i nwere ikwu banyere ama ndị a a na-agba megide gị?”
So the high-priest rising up in the midst interrogated Jesus, Answerest thou nothing? What is it that these witness against thee?
61 Ma ọ gbakwara nkịtị, ọ zaghị ihe ọbụla. Ọzọkwa, onyeisi nchụaja jụrụ ya sị, “Ị bụ Kraịst, Ọkpara Onye a gọziri agọzi?”
But he kept silence, and made them not a word of reply. Again the high-priest questioned him, and said to him, Art thou the Messiah, the Son of the blessed?
62 Jisọs sịrị, “Abụ m ya, unu ga-ahụkwa Nwa nke Mmadụ ka ọ na-anọdụ ala nʼaka nri nke Onye ji ike niile, na-abịakwa nʼigwe ojii nke eluigwe.”
Then said Jesus, I am. And ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
63 Onyeisi nchụaja dọwara uwe ya kwuo sị, “Gịnị mere anyị ji achọ ndị akaebe ọzọ?
Then the high-priest rent his clothes, and said, What farther need have we of witnesses?
Ye have heard his blasphemy. What think ye? And they all adjudged him to be deserving of death.
65 Mgbe ahụ ụfọdụ bidoro ịgbụ ya ọnụ mmiri asọ, jiri akwa kechie ya anya, tiekwa ya aka na-asị, “Buo amụma!” Ndị nche kpụpụtara ya tiekwa ya ihe.
And some began to spit upon him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, Prophesy: and the servants slapped him on the face with their hands.
66 Dịka Pita nọ nʼobi ahụ, otu nʼime ụmụ agbọghọ na-ejere onyeisi nchụaja ozi bịara nso ebe ọ nọ.
And as Peter was in the hall, at the lower end, there came to him one of the high-priest’s maid-servants:
67 Mgbe ọ hụrụ Pita ka ọ na-anya ọkụ, o leziri ya anya nke ọma, sị, “Ị bụ otu nʼime ndị na-eso Jisọs onye Nazaret ahụ.”
and seeing Peter warming himself, stedfastly looking at him, she said, Thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
68 Ma ọ gọrọ agọ sị, “Amaghị m, maọbụ ghọtakwa ihe ị na-ekwu.” Ma ọ pụrụ gaa nʼụzọ e si abata. Mgbe ahụ oke ọkụkụ kwara akwa.
Then he denied it, saying, I do not so much as know him, nor understand what thou art saying. And he went out into the vestibule; and the cock crew.
And a maid-servant observing him again; began to say to those who stood by, This man is one of them.
70 Ma ọ gọkwara agọ ọzọ. Mgbe oge nta gasịrị, ndị guzo Pita nso sịrị ya, “Nʼezie, ị bụ otu nʼime ha, nʼihi na ị bụ onye Galili.”
Then he denied it again. And after a little while, they who stood by said to Peter, Of a certainty thou art one of them; for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech is correspondent.
71 Mgbe ahụ o bidoro ịbụ onwe ya ọnụ, na ịṅụ iyi na-asị, “Amaghị m onye nwoke a unu na-ekwu okwu ya bụ.”
Then began he to make the most dreadful imprecations, and to swear, I know not the man of whom ye speak.
72 Nʼotu oge ahụ, oke ọkụkụ kwara akwa nke ugboro abụọ. Mgbe ahụ Pita chetara okwu Jisọs gwara ya sị, “Tupu oke ọkụkụ akwaa akwa ugboro abụọ, ị ga-agọnarị m ugboro atọ.” Obi tiwara ya mee ka ọ kwaa akwa.
And the second time the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word which Jesus spake unto him, That before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And casting his mantle over his face, he wept.
