Luk 14
1 Otu ụbọchị izuike, mgbe ọ gara iri ihe nʼụlọ otu onyendu ndị Farisii, ha nọ na-ele ya anya nke ọma.
And it came to pass, when he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a sabbath to eat bread, that they were watching him.
2 Ma lee, otu nwoke ahụ ya zara aza nọkwa nʼihu ya ebe ahụ.
And behold, there was before him a certain man that had the dropsy.
3 Jisọs jụrụ ndị Farisii na ndị ozizi iwu sị, “O ziri ezi nʼiwu ịgwọ ọrịa nʼụbọchị izuike ka ọ bụ na o zighị?”
And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?
4 Ma ha e kwughị okwu ọbụla. Ya mere ọ kpọrọ ya, gwọọ ya ma sị ya laa.
But they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go.
5 Ọ sịrị ha, “Ọ bụrụ na otu nʼime unu nwere nwa nwoke maọbụ oke ehi nke dabara nʼime olulu mmiri nʼụbọchị izuike, ọ bụ na ọ gaghị eme ngwangwa dọpụta ya?”
And he said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a well, and will not straightway draw him up on a sabbath day?
6 Ma ha enweghị ike ịza ajụjụ a.
And they could not answer again unto these things.
7 Mgbe ọ hụrụ otu ndị a kpọrọ oriri si họrọ naanị oche ndị a na-asọpụrụ, oche ndị a na-asọpụrụ, ọ tụrụ ha ilu sị,
And he spake a parable unto those that were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief seats; saying unto them,
8 “Mgbe mmadụ ọbụla kpọrọ gị oriri nʼọlụlụ di na nwunye, abatala nọdụ nʼoche ndị a na-asọpụrụ, nʼihi na eleghị anya, onye kpọrọ gị oriri kpọkwara onye ka gị nwe nsọpụrụ.
When thou art bidden of any man to a marriage feast, sit not down in the chief seat; lest haply a more honorable man than thou be bidden of him,
9 Nʼihi na onye ahụ kpọrọ unu oriri nwere ike bịakwute gị sị gị, nye nwoke a ọnọdụ gị. Mgbe ahụ, ị ga-ebili nʼanya ihere gaa nọdụ nʼoche dịkarịsịrị ala.
and he that bade thee and him shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and then thou shalt begin with shame to take the lowest place.
10 Ma mgbe a kpọrọ gị, nọdụ nʼoche dị ala, ka ọ ga-abụ na onye kpọrọ gị oriri bịa, ọ ga-asị gị ‘Enyi m, rigota nʼebe a ka elu.’ Mgbe ahụ, ị ga-enwekwa ugwu nʼanya ndị niile a kpọrọ gị na ha oriri.
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest place; that when he that hath bidden thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have glory in the presence of all that sit at meat with thee.
11 Nʼihi na onye ọbụla ga-ebuli onwe ya elu ka a ga-eweda nʼala, ma onye ọbụla na-eweda onwe ya ala ka a ga-ebuli elu.”
For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
12 Ọ gwara onye ahụ kpọrọ ya oriri sị, “Mgbe ị na-akpọ oriri nke nri ehihie maọbụ nke nri anyasị, akpọla naanị ndị enyi gị maọbụ ụmụnne gị ndị nwoke maọbụ ndị ikwu na ibe gị, maọbụ ndị agbataobi gị bara ọgaranya, nʼihi ma eleghị anya, ha pụrụ ịkpọkwa gị na mgbe nke ha, sị otu a kwụghachi gị ụgwọ.
And he said to him also that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor rich neighbors; lest haply they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.
13 Kama mgbe ị na-akpọ oriri, kpọọ ndị ogbenye na ndị ọlụsị na ndị ngwụrọ na ndị ìsì.
But when thou makest a feast, bid the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 A ga-agọzikwa gị, nʼihi na ha enweghị ike ịkwụghachi gị, a ga-akwụghachikwa gị mgbe ndị ezi omume ga-ebili nʼọnwụ.”
and thou shalt be blessed; because they have not [wherewith] to recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed in the resurrection of the just.
15 Mgbe otu nʼime ndị a kpọrọ oriri nụrụ nke a, ọ sịrị ya, “Ngọzị ga-adịrị onye ga-eso rie oriri nʼalaeze Chineke.”
And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 Ma ọ sịrị ya, “Otu onye na-akwado oke oriri kpọkwa ọtụtụ mmadụ oku.
But he said unto him, A certain man made a great supper; and he bade many:
17 Mgbe oge oriri ahụ ruru, o zipụrụ ohu ya ka ọ ga gwa ndị ahụ ọ kpọrọ sị, ‘Bịanụ, nʼihi na e dozichaala ihe niile.’
and he sent forth his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for [all] things are now ready.
18 “Ma ha niile nʼotu nʼotu malitere inye ọsịsa. Onye nke mbụ sịrị, ‘Azụrụ m iberibe ala ọhụrụ, ọ dịkwa mkpa na m ga-eje hụ ya, biko gbaghara m, agaghị m abịa.’
And they all with one [consent] began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a field, and I must needs go out and see it; I pray thee have me excused.
19 “Onye nke ọzọ sịrị, ‘Azụrụ m ehi e ji arụ ọrụ ubi, iri e jikọrọ abụọ abụọ. Ana m aga ugbu a ka m nwalee ha, biko gbaghara m, agaghị m abịa.’
And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them; I pray thee have me excused.
20 “Ma onye ọzọ sịkwara, ‘Alụrụ m nwunye ọhụrụ, nʼihi nke a agaghị m abịa.’
And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 “Ohu ahụ lọtara, kọọrọ nna ya ukwu ihe ndị ahụ a kpọrọ oriri kwuru. Mgbe ahụ, iwe dị ukwuu were nna ya ukwu, nke a mere ka o zipụ ohu ya sị ya, ‘Gaa ngwangwa nʼokporoụzọ ukwu na nʼokporoụzọ nta dị nʼobodo a, kpọbata ndị ogbenye, na ndị ụkwụ rụrụ, na ndị ìsì na ndị ngwụrọ.’
And the servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor and maimed and blind and lame.
22 “Ohu ahụ sịrị, ‘Nna m ukwu, emeela m ihe i kwuru, ma ohere ka fọdụrụ.’
And the servant said, Lord, what thou didst command is done, and yet there is room.
23 “Nna ukwu ahụ sịrị ohu ahụ, ‘Gaakwa nʼokporoụzọ ukwu na okporoụzọ nta, mee ka ndị mmadụ bata nʼụlọ m, ka ụlọ m jupụta na mmadụ.
And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and constrain [them] to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 Nʼihi na agwa m unu, ọ dịghị otu onye nʼime ndị ahụ a kpọrọ oriri ga-edetụ nri m ọnụ.’”
For I say unto you, that none of those men that were bidden shall taste of my supper.
25 Ugbu a, oke igwe mmadụ na-eso ya ma ọ tụgharịrị sị ha:
Now there went with him great multitudes: and he turned, and said unto them,
26 “Onye ọbụla chọrọ iso m, ma o bụghị ụzọ kpọ nne na nna ya, na nwunye ya, na ụmụ ya, na ụmụnne ya ndị nwoke na ndị nwanyị tinyekwara ndụ nke ya onwe ya asị, apụghị ịbụ onye na-eso ụzọ m.
If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 Onye ọbụla na-eburughị obe ya soro m, enweghị ike ịbụ onye na-eso ụzọ m.
Whosoever doth not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 “Ọ dị onye ọbụla nʼime unu chọrọ iwu ụlọ elu, na-agaghị ebu ụzọ nọdụ ala, gbakọọ ihe ọ ga-efu ya, iji chọpụta ma o nwekwara ego ga-ezu iwucha ya?
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doth not first sit down and count the cost, whether he have [wherewith] to complete it?
29 Nʼihi na ọ bụrụ na ọ tọọ ntọala ma o nwekwaghị ike wuchaa ya, onye ọbụla hụrụ ya ga-achị ya ọchị,
Lest haply, when he hath laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all that behold begin to mock him,
30 na-asị, ‘Nwoke a malitere iwu ụlọ, ma o nweghị ike wuchaa ya.’
saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 “Maọbụ olee eze chọrọ ịlụso eze ibe ya ọgụ, ọ gaghị ebu ụzọ nọdụ ala tulee ma puku ndị agha iri ya ọ ga-ezuru ya iji lụso onye ji iri puku ndị agha abụọ abịakwute ya ọgụ?
Or what king, as he goeth to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32 Ọ bụrụ na o nweghị ike, ọ ga-ezipụ ozi rịọ ka e kpee udo mgbe onye nke ọzọ ka nọ nʼebe dị anya.
Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and asketh conditions of peace.
33 Nʼụzọ dị otu a, onye ọbụla na-ajụghị ihe niile o nwere, apụghị ịbụ onye na-eso ụzọ m.
So therefore whosoever he be of you that renounceth not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
34 “Nnu dị mma, ma ọ bụrụ na ọ dịghị atọkwa ụtọ, a ga-eji gịnị mee ka ọ tọọ ụtọ ọzọ?
Salt therefore is good: but if even the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 Ọ bakwaghị uru nye ala maọbụ iji mee nri ala. Kama ọ bụ itufu ya. “Onye ọbụla nwere ntị ịnụ ihe, ya nụrụ.”
It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill: [men] cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
