2 E werela ihe nketa anyị nyefee ndị ọbịa nʼaka, werekwa ebe obibi anyị nyefee nʼaka ndị mba ọzọ.
Our inheritance, turned over to foreigners, our houses, to aliens.
3 Anyị aghọọla ụmụ mgbei, na ndị na-enweghị nna. Nne anyị ha dị ka ndị inyom di ha nwụrụ.
Orphans, have we become, and fatherless, our mothers, are widows indeed.
4 Anyị na-akwụ ụgwọ nʼihi mmiri anyị na-aṅụ. Ọ bụkwa ego ka anyị ji azụ nkụ.
Our water—for silver, have we drunk, our wood—for a price, cometh in.
5 Agbanyeghị na anyị nya yoku nʼolu, anyị bụ ndị a na-adọgbu nʼọrụ, ike agwụla anyị, enyeghị anyị izuike.
Upon our necks, are our pursuers, We labour, and there is allowed us no rest.
6 Anyị weere onwe anyị nyefee ndị Ijipt na ndị Asịrịa nʼaka nʼihi inweta nri ga-ezuru anyị.
To Egypt, have we stretched out our hand, to Assyria, to be satisfied with bread.
7 Nna anyị ha mehiere, ma ha anwụọla. Ma ọ bụ anyị na-anata ntaramahụhụ kwesiri ịbụ nke ha.
Our fathers, sinned, and are not, and, we, their iniquities, have borne.
8 Ndị bụ ohu na-achị anyị. Ọ dịghị onye anyị nwere nke ga-anapụta anyị site nʼaka ha.
Slaves, have ruled over us, There is none to set free from their hand.
9 Anyị ji ndụ anyị nʼaka mgbe anyị na-achọ inweta ihe anyị ga-eri, nʼihi mma agha nke dị nʼọzara.
At the risk of our life, do we bring in our bread, because of the sword of the desert.
10 Anụ ahụ anyị dị ọkụ dịka ite ọkụ, na-amakwa jijiji nʼihi agụụ.
Our skin, as with a furnace, is scorched, because of the hot winds of famine.
11 Emerụọla ndị inyom dị na Zayọn, ha na ụmụ agbọghọ na-amaghị nwoke niile dị nʼobodo dị iche iche nke Juda.
Women—in Zion, were ravished, virgins, in the cities of Judah!
12 Akwụgbuola ụmụ eze site nʼikegide aka ha nʼelu; a dịghị enyekwa ndị okenye nsọpụrụ.
Princes, by their hand, have been hanged, The faces of elders, not honoured.
13 Ụmụ okorobịa na-adọgbu onwe ha nʼọrụ na nkume ịkwọ nri, ụmụntakịrị ndị nwoke na-asụkwa ngọngọ nʼokpuru ọtụtụ nkụ.
Young men, a millstone, have lifted, and, youths, under wood, have staggered.
14 Ndị okenye adịghịkwa anọ nʼọnụ ụzọ ama, ụmụ okorobịa akwụsịkwala ịkpọ ụbọ akwara ha.
Elders, from the gates, have ceased. Young men, from their music.
15 Ọṅụ adịghịkwa nʼobi anyị; ite egwu anyị aghọọlara anyị ịnọ ọnọdụ iru ụjụ.
Ceased hath the joy of our hearts, Changed to mourning, our dance.
16 Okpueze esitela nʼisi anyị dapụ. Ahụhụ dịrị anyị nʼihi na anyị emehiela.
Fallen is the crown of our head. Surely woe to us, for we have sinned.
17 Nʼihi nke a, obi anyị na-ada mba, nʼihi ihe ndị a ka anya anyị na-agba ọchịchịrị.
For this cause, faint is our heart, For these things, dimmed are our eyes:
18 Nʼihi ugwu Zayọn nke tọgbọrọ nʼefu, nke ghọrọ ebe nkịta ọhịa na-akpagharị.
Because of Mount Zion, which is desolate, jackals, have gone prowling therein.
19 Gị, Onyenwe anyị, na-abụ eze ruo mgbe ebighị ebi. Ocheeze gị na-adịgide site nʼọgbọ ruo nʼọgbọ.
Thou, O Yahweh, unto times age-abiding, dost remain, Thy throne, from generation to generation:
20 Gịnị mere i ji na-echezọ anyị kpamkpam? Gịnị mere i ji gbakụta anyị azụ ogologo ụbọchị ndị a niile?
Wherefore shouldst thou perpetually forget us? forsake us, to length of days?
21 Mee ka anyị lọghachikwute gị, Onyenwe anyị, ka anyị si otu a lọtakwa; gbanwee ụbọchị anyị ka ọ dị ọhụrụ dịka na mgbe ochie,
Bring us back, O Yahweh, unto thyself, and we will come back! Renew our days, as of old;
22 ma ọ bụghị na ị jụla anyị kpamkpam na-eweso anyị iwe nke ukwu.
For though thou hast not, utterly rejected, us, thou art wroth with us—exceedingly!
