1 Mgbe Joshua nwụrụ, ụmụ Izrel jụrụ Onyenwe anyị sị, “Olee ebo ga-ebu ụzọ gaa lụso ndị Kenan agha nʼihi anyị?”
After that Ioshua was dead, the children of Israel asked ye Lord, saying, Who shall goe vp for vs against the Canaanites, to fight first against them?
2 Onyenwe anyị zara, “Ọ bụ ebo Juda. Enyefeela m ala ahụ nʼaka ha.”
And the Lord said, Iudah shall goe vp: behold, I haue giuen the land into his hande.
3 Ndị Juda gwara ụmụ nwanne ha ndị ebo Simiọn sị, “Soronụ anyị banye nʼala ahụ anyị ketara site nʼife nza, ka anyị ga lụso ndị Kenan agha. Anyị ga-esokwara unu banye nʼala nke unu.” Ya mere, ndị ebo Simiọn soro ha gaa.
And Iudah said vnto Simeon his brother, Come vp with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites: and I likewise will goe with thee into thy lot: so Simeon went with him.
4 Mgbe Juda busoro ha agha, Onyenwe anyị nyefere ndị Kenan, na ndị Periz nʼaka ha, mee ka ha gbuo puku ndị agha iri nʼime obodo Bezek.
Then Iudah went vp, and the Lord deliuered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands, and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
5 Nʼebe ahụ ka ha zutere Adoni-Bezek, buso ya agha, tigbukwaa ndị Kenan na ndị Periz.
And they founde Adoni-bezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and slewe the Canaanites, and the Perizzites.
6 Ma Adoni-Bezek gbapụrụ ọsọ zoo onwe ya, ma ha chụgidere ya, jide ya, gbupụ ya isi mkpụrụ aka ya abụọ na isi mkpụrụ ụkwụ ya abụọ.
But Adoni-bezek fled, and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off the thumbes of his hands and of his feete.
7 Mgbe ahụ, Adoni-Bezek sịrị, “Iri ndị eze asaa ka m mesoro ụdị mmeso a unu mesoro m, ọ bụkwa nri si na tebul m dapụ ka ha riri. Ugbu a Chineke akwụghachila m ụgwọ ọrụ ọjọọ m.” Ha kpụụrụ ya gaa Jerusalem, ebe ọ nọ nwụọ.
And Adoni-bezek said, Seuentie Kings hauing the thumbes of their hands and of their feete cut off, gathered bread vnder my table: as I haue done, so God hath rewarded me. so they brought him to Ierusalem, and there he died.
8 Ndị Juda busoro obodo Jerusalem agha, were mma agha gbuchapụ mmadụ niile bi nʼime ya, ma gbaakwa obodo ahụ niile ọkụ.
(Nowe the children of Iudah had fought against Ierusalem, and had taken it and smitten it with the edge of the sworde, and had set the citie on fire.)
9 Mgbe nke a gasịrị, ndị agha Juda busoro ndị Kenan bi na ndịda ala ugwu ugwu ahụ, bụ Negev, ya na akụkụ ọdịda anyanwụ nʼebe dị ala ala.
Afterwarde also the children of Iudah went downe to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountaine, and towarde the South, and in the lowe countrey.
10 Ha jekwuru ndị Kenan bi nʼobodo Hebrọn (nke a na-akpọ Kiriat Aaba na mbụ) merie Sheshai, na Ahiman, na Talmai.
And Iudah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron, which Hebron beforetime was called Kiriath-arba: and they slewe Sheshai, and Ahiman and Talmai.
11 Site nʼebe ahụ, ha jekwuru ndị bi na Debịa (nke a na-akpọ Kiriat Sefa, nʼoge mbụ).
And from thence hee went to the inhabitantes of Debir, and the name of Debir in olde time was Kiriath-sepher.
12 Kaleb sịrị, “Nwoke ọbụla ga-aga busoo Kiriat Sefa agha ma merie ya ka m ga-akpọnye Aksa bụ nwa m nwanyị ka ọ bụrụ nwunye ya.”
And Caleb saide, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and taketh it, euen to him wil I giue Achsah my daughter to wife.
13 Otniel nwa Kenaz, nwanne nta Kaleb, lụgburu obodo ahụ nʼagha. Nʼihi nke a, Kaleb kpọnyere ya Aksa, bụ nwa ya nwanyị ka ọ bụrụ nwunye ya.
And Othniel the sonne of Kenaz Calebs yonger brother tooke it, to whome hee gaue Achsah his daughter to wife.
14 Otu ụbọchị, mgbe Aksa bịakwutere Otniel, ọ kwagidere ya ka ọ rịọọ ala ubi site nʼaka nna ya. Mgbe Aksa si nʼelu ịnyịnya ibu ya rịdata, Kaleb jụrụ ya sị, “Gịnị ka ị chọrọ ka m mere gị?”
And when shee came to him, shee mooued him to aske of her father a field, and shee lighted off her asse, and Caleb saide vnto her, What wilt thou?
15 Ọ zaghachiri, “Nyem onyinye pụrụ iche. Ebe ọ bụ na i nyela m ala Negev, biko nyekwa m isi mmiri ụfọdụ.” Nʼihi nke a, Kaleb nyere ya isi mmiri mgbago na isi mmiri nke ndịda.
And shee answered him, Giue mee a blessing: for thou hast giuen me a South countrey, giue me also springs of water: and Caleb gaue her the springs aboue and the springs beneath.
16 Ụmụnna nwunye Mosis, onye Ken, si nʼobodo nkwụ nkwụ soro ndị Juda, gaa biri nʼetiti ndị ahụ bi nʼọzara Juda, na Negev, nke dị nso nʼArad.
And the childre of Keni Moses father in law went vp out of the citie of the palme trees with the children of Iudah, into the wildernesse of Iudah, that lieth in the South of Arad, and went and dwelt among the people.
17 Ndị ikom Juda sooro ndị ikom Simiọn, ụmụnna ha, lụso ndị Kenan bi na Zefat agha, bibie obodo ahụ kpamkpam. Nʼihi nke a, a gụgharịrị obodo ahụ, kpọọ ya Homa.
But Iudah went with Simeon his brother, and they slewe the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and vtterly destroied it, and called the name of the citie Hormah.
18 Ndị agha Juda lụgbukwara obodo Gaza, na Ashkelọn, na Ekrọn, tinyere ala niile gbara ha gburugburu.
Also Iudah tooke Azzah with the coasts thereof, and Askelon with the coasts thereof, and Ekron with the coastes thereof.
19 Onyenwe anyị nọnyeekwara ndị Juda mee ka ha kpochapụ ndị niile bi nʼobodo niile dị nʼala ugwu ugwu ahụ. Ma ha enweghị ike ịchụpụ ndị bi nʼala ndagwurugwu ahụ, nʼihi na ndị ahụ nwere ụgbọ agha igwe dị iche iche.
And the Lord was with Iudah, and he possessed the mountaines: for he could not driue out the inhabitantes of the valleis, because they had charrets of yron.
20 E nyekwara Kaleb obodo Hebrọn, dịka Mosis kwere ya na nkwa. Kaleb chụpụrụ ụmụ Anak atọ site nʼala ahụ.
And they gaue Hebron vnto Caleb, as Moses had saide, and hee expelled thence the three sonnes of Anak.
21 Ndị ebo Benjamin enweghị ike chụpụ ndị Jebus bi na Jerusalem. Nʼihi nke a, ha soro ụmụ Benjamin biri ruo taa.
But the children of Beniamin did not cast out the Iebusites, that inhabited Ierusalem: therefore the Iebusites dwell with the children of Beniamin in Ierusalem vnto this day.
22 Ma ndị sitere nʼebo Josef busoro obodo Betel agha. Onyenwe anyị nọnyeere ha.
They also that were of the house of Ioseph, went vp to Beth-el, and the Lord was with them,
23 Mgbe ha zipuru ndị ikom ịga nyochapụta obodo Betel, nke a na-akpọ Luz,
And the house of Ioseph caused to viewe Beth-el (and the name of the citie beforetime was Luz)
24 ndị nnyopụta ahụ hụrụ otu nwoke sị nʼobodo ahụ na-apụta. Ha gwara ya okwu sị ya, “Zi anyị ụzọ anyị ga-esi banye nʼime obodo a, anyị ga-ahụ na e mesoro gị mmeso dị mma.”
And the spies sawe a man come out of the citie, and they saide vnto him, Shewe vs, we praie thee, the way into the citie, and we will shewe thee mercie.
25 Ya mere, nwoke ahụ gosiri ha ụzọ, ha ji mma agha gbuo mmadụ niile bi nʼime obodo ahụ, ma ha hapụrụ nwoke ahụ na ezinaụlọ ya ndụ.
And when hee had shewed them the waie into the citie, they smote the citie with the edge of the sworde, but they let the man and all his housholde depart.
26 Emesịa, nwoke ahụ kpọọrọ ezinaụlọ ya gaa biri nʼala ndị Het wuoro onwe ya otu obodo nʼebe ahụ. Ọ kpọrọ aha obodo ahụ Luz, nke bụkwa aha obodo ahụ ruo taa.
Then the man went into the lande of the Hittites, and built a citie, and called the name thereof Luz, which is the name thereof vnto this daie.
27 Manase achụpụghị ndị Bet-Shan na obodo nta ya ndị ọzọ, maọbụ Teanak na obodo nta ya ndị ọzọ, maọbụ Doa, maọbụ Ibleam, maọbụ Megido, tinyere obodo nta niile ndị ọzọ gbara ha gburugburu. Nʼihi na ndị Kenan bigidere nʼebe ahụ.
Neither did Manasseh destroie Bethshean with her townes, nor Taanach with her townes, nor the inhabitantes of Dor with her townes, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam with her townes, neither the inhabitants of Megiddo with her townes: but the Canaanites dwelled still in that lande.
28 Mgbe ụmụ Izrel dịrị ike karịa, ha manyere ndị Kenan ị rụrụ ha ọrụ, ma ha achụpụghị ha site nʼala ahụ.
Neuerthelesse when Israel was strong, they put the Canaanites to tribute, and expelled them not wholly.
29 Ifrem enwekwaghị ike chụpụ ndị Kenan bi na Gaza. Ndị Kenan gara nʼihu biri nʼetiti ha nʼebe ahụ.
Likewise Ephraim expelled not the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
30 Otu a kwa, ebo Zebụlọn achụpụghị ndị Kenan bi nʼala Kitrọn, maọbụ na Nahalol, kama ha mere ha ndị ohu na-arụ ọrụ ike.
Neither did Zebulun expell the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol, but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
31 Ọzọkwa, ndị ebo Asha achụpụghị ndị niile bi nʼAkọ, na Saịdọn, na Ahlab, na Akzib, na Helba, na Afik, maọbụ Rehob.
Neither did Asher cast out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob,
32 Ndị Asha binyere nʼetiti ndị Kenan bụ ndị bi nʼala ahụ, nʼihi na ha achụpụghị ha.
But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites the inhabitantes of the lande: for they did not driue them out.
33 Ndị ebo Naftalị achụpụghịkwa ndị bi na Bet-Shemesh, maọbụ ndị bi na Bet-Anat. Kama ndị Naftalị binyere ndị Kenan bi nʼala ahụ. Ma ndị bi na Bet-Shemesh, na Bet-Anat ghọrọ ndị ohu ndị Naftalị.
Neither did Naphtali driue out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but dwelt among the Canaanites the inhabitants of the lande: neuerthelesse the inhabitantes of Beth-shemesh, and of Beth-anath became tributaries vnto them.
34 Ma banyere ndị ebo Dan, ndị Amọrait chụpụrụ ha chụba ha nʼelu ugwu. Ha ekwenyeghị ka ha rịdata na ndịda ugwu ahụ.
And the Amorites droue the children of Dan into the mountaine: so that they suffered them not to come downe to the valley.
35 Ma ndị Amọrait nọgidesịrị ike nʼugwu Heres, na Aijalon, na Shaalbim, ma mgbe ike ebo Josef bara ụba, ha meriri ha, mee ha ndị ohu ha.
And the Ammonites dwelt still in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and when the hand of Iosephs familie preuailed, they became tributaries:
36 Oke ala ụmụ ndị Amọrait malitere na mgbago Akrabim ruo, ma gafeekwa ebe a na-akpọ Sela.
And the coast of the Amorites was from Maaleh-akrabbim, euen from Selah and vpward.
