1 O nwere otu nwoke onyeisi ndị Juu nke so nʼotu ndị Farisii aha ya bụ Nikọdimọs.
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jewish people.
This man came to him at night, and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him."
3 Jisọs zara sị ya, “Nʼezie, nʼezie agwa m unu, ọ bụrụ na amụghị mmadụ ọzọ, ọ pụghị ịhụ alaeze Chineke anya.”
Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."
4 Nikọdimọs sịrị ya, “Olee otu a ga-esi mụgharịa mmadụ mgbe o mere okenye? Ọ ga-aba nʼafọ nne ya nke ugboro abụọ?”
Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 Ihe e si nʼanụ ahụ mụọ bụ anụ ahụ, ma ihe a mụrụ site na Mmụọ bụ mmụọ.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Do not be surprised that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'
Otu a ka ọ dịkwara onye ọbụla a mụrụ site na Mmụọ.”
The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
9 Nikọdimọs zara sị ya, “Olee otu ihe ndị a ga-esi mee?”
Nicodemus answered and said to him, "How can these things be?"
10 Jisọs zara sị ya, “Ị bụ onye ozizi ndị Izrel, ma ị ghọtaghị ihe ndị a?
Jesus answered him, "Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not understand these things?
11 Nʼezie, nʼezie agwa m unu. Anyị na-ekwu banyere ihe anyị maara, na-akọwapụtakwa ihe anyị hụrụ, ma unu onwe unu adịghị anabata akaebe anyị.
Truly, truly, I tell you, we speak that which we know, and testify of that which we have seen, but you do not accept our testimony.
12 Ekwuola m banyere ihe dị nʼụwa ma unu ekweghị ya, oleekwanụ otu unu ga-esi kwere, ma ọ bụrụ na mụ agwa unu banyere ihe ndị dị nʼeluigwe?
If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13 O nwebeghị onye ọbụla rigooro nʼeluigwe ewezuga Nwa nke Mmadụ bụ onye siri nʼeluigwe rịdata.
And no one has ascended into heaven, but he who descended out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven.
14 Dị ka Mosis weliri agwọ elu nʼime ọzara, otu a ka a ga-ewelikwa Nwa nke Mmadụ elu.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have life without end. (aiōnios )
16 Nʼihi na Chineke hụrụ ụwa nʼanya, nke a mere o jiri nye Ọkpara ọ mụrụ naanị ya, ka onye ọbụla kweere na ya ghara ịla nʼiyi, kama ka o nwee ndụ ebighị ebi. (aiōnios )
For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have life without end.
For God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
18 Ikpe amaghị onye ọbụla kwere na ya, ma onye ọbụla na-ekweghị aghọọlarị onye ikpe mara, nʼihi na o kweghị nʼaha Ọkpara Chineke mụrụ naanị ya.
The one who believes in him is not judged, but the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
19 Nke a bụ mkpebi ikpe ahụ; na Ìhè abịala nʼụwa, ma ụmụ mmadụ hụrụ ọchịchịrị nʼanya kama ìhè ahụ, nʼihi na ọrụ ha jọrọ njọ.
This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their works were evil.
20 Nʼihi na onye ọbụla na-eme ihe ọjọọ kpọrọ ìhè ahụ asị, ọ dịghị abịakwute ìhè ahụ, ka a ghara ime ka ọrụ ya pụta ìhè.
For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, so that his works will not be exposed.
21 Ma ndị na-ebi ndụ nʼeziokwu na-abịakwute ìhè ahụ, ka e nwee ike hụta ya nke ọma, na ihe niile ha na-eme sitere na ike Chineke.
But the one who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God."
22 Emesịa, Jisọs na ndị na-eso ụzọ ya banyere nʼime obodo Judịa, ebe ọ nọtụrụ nwa oge, meekwa baptizim.
After these things, Jesus came with his disciples into the land of Judea. He stayed there with them, and was baptizing.
23 Nʼotu aka ahụ, Jọn nọkwa nʼọnụ mmiri Enọn dị nso na Salim na-eme baptizim nʼihi na mmiri buru ibu nʼebe ahụ, ndị mmadụ gakwara nʼihu na-abịakwute ya, ọ na-emekwa ha baptizim.
Now John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. They came, and were baptized.
24 E tinyebeghị Jọn nʼụlọ mkpọrọ mgbe ahụ.
For John was not yet thrown into prison.
25 Nʼoge a, ịrụrịta ụka malitere nʼetiti ndị na-eso ụzọ Jọn na otu onye Juu banyere mmemme ịdị ọcha.
Now a dispute arose between John's disciples with a Jew about purification.
And they came to John, and said to him, "Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, look, he is baptizing, and everyone is coming to him."
27 Jọn zaghachiri sị, “Ihe mmadụ nwere ike ịnata bụ naanị ihe ahụ e nyere ya site nʼeluigwe.
John answered, "No one can receive anything, unless it has been given to him from heaven.
28 Unu onwe unu ga-agbara m akaebe na m sịrị, na abụghị m Kraịst ahụ, kama e zitere m ka m buru ụzọ bịa.
You yourselves bear me witness that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent before him.'
29 Nwanyị a na-alụ ọhụrụ bụ nke di ya. Enyi onye na-alụ nwunye ọhụrụ na-eche ma na-egekwa ntị ịnụ olu ya, ọṅụ na-ejupụtakwa ya obi mgbe ọ nụrụ olu onye ahụ na-alụ nwunye ọhụrụ. Ya mere, ọṅụ m e zuola oke ugbu a.
He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine is now complete.
30 Ọ ghaghị ịdị elu, ma mụ onwe m aghaghị ịdịkwa ala.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 “Onye ahụ si nʼelu bịa dị elu karịa ihe niile, onye ahụ si nʼụwa bụkwa nke ụwa ma na-ekwukwa okwu dị ka onye si nʼụwa. Onye ahụ si nʼeluigwe dị elu karịa ihe niile.
He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.
What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness.
33 Onye ọbụla nabatara akaebe ya ji nke a mere akara, na Chineke bụ eziokwu.
He who has received his witness has set his seal to this, that God is true.
34 Nʼihi na onye Chineke zitere na-ekwu okwu Chineke. Nʼihi na ọ na-enye Mmụọ ya nʼuju.
For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for he does not give the Spirit by measure.
35 Nna hụrụ Ọkpara ya nʼanya, o tinyekwala ihe niile nʼaka ya.
The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.
36 Onye ọbụla kwere nʼỌkpara ahụ nwere ndụ ebighị ebi, ma onye ọbụla jụrụ Ọkpara ahụ agaghị ahụ ndụ nʼihi na iwe Chineke ga-adịrị ya.” (aiōnios )
Whoever believes in the Son has everlasting life, but whoever refuses to believe in the Son won't see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." (aiōnios )
