When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, himself and his disciples.
2 Judas, onye rara ya nye matakwara ebe ahụ. Nʼihi na Jisọs na ndị na-eso ụzọ ya na-anọ nʼebe ahụ ọtụtụ oge.
Now Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus oft-times resorted thither with his disciples.
3 Ya mere, Judas duuru otu ndị agha, na ụfọdụ ndị ozi sitere nʼetiti ndịisi nchụaja na ndị Farisii bịa nʼebe ahụ. Ha chịkwa ọwaọkụ, oriọna na ngwa agha.
Judas then, having received the band [of soldiers], and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4 Ebe Jisọs maara ihe niile na-akwado ịbịakwasị ya, ọ pụtara sị ha, “Onye ka unu na-achọ?”
Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith unto them, Whom seek ye?
They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am [he]. And Judas also, which betrayed him, was standing with them.
6 Mgbe Jisọs gwara ha, “Ọ bụ m,” ha laghachiri azụ, daa nʼala.
When therefore he said unto them, I am [he], they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Ọzọ ọ jụkwara ha, “Onye ka unu na-achọ?” Ha sịrị, “Ọ bụ Jisọs onye Nazaret.”
Again therefore he asked them, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
8 Jisọs zara, “Agwara m unu na Ọ bụ m. Ọ bụrụ na unu na-achọ m, hapụnụ ndị a ka ha laa.”
Jesus answered, I told you that I am [he]: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
9 Nke a bụ iji mezuo okwu ahụ o kwuru na mbụ, “Etufughị m onye ọbụla nʼime ndị ahụ i nyere m.”
that the word might be fulfilled which he spake, Of those whom thou hast given me I lost not one.
10 Ya mere Saimọn Pita, onye ji mma agha, mịpụtara ya, gbuo ohu onyeisi nchụaja, gbupụ ntị aka nri ya. Aha ohu ahụ bụ Malkus.
Simon Peter therefore having a sword drew it, and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. Now the servant’s name was Malchus.
11 Ma Jisọs gwara Pita, “Mịghachi mma agha gị nʼọbọ ya! Ọ bụ na mụ agaghị aṅụ site nʼiko ahụ Nna m nyere m ka m ṅụọ?”
Jesus therefore said unto Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath: the cup which the Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
So the band and the chief captain, and the officers of the Jews, seized Jesus and bound him,
and led him to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was high priest that year.
14 Kaịfas bụkwa onye ahụ dụrụ ndị ndu ndị Juu ọdụ, sị na ọ ka mma ka otu onye nwụọ nʼihi mmadụ niile.
Now Caiaphas was he which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and [so did] another disciple. Now that disciple was known unto the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;
16 Ma Pita na-eguzo nʼezi nʼọnụ ụzọ. Onye ọzọ ahụ na-eso ụzọ ya, nke onyeisi nchụaja maara nke ọma, pụrụ nʼezi gwa nwaagbọghọ ahụ na-eche ọnụ ụzọ okwu, ma kpọbata Pita.
but Peter was standing at the door without. So the other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, went out and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
17 Nwaagbọghọ ahụ sịrị Pita, “Ọ bụ na ị bụghị otu nʼime ndị na-eso ụzọ nwoke a?” Pita sịrị, “Mba! Abụghị m.”
The maid therefore that kept the door saith unto Peter, Art thou also [one] of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not.
18 Ndị ohu na ndị nche kwanyere ọkụ nʼihi na oyi na-atụ. Ha guzoro nʼebe ahụ na-anya ọkụ. Pita soro ha guzo na-anyakwa ọkụ.
Now the servants and the officers were standing [there], having made a fire of coals; for it was cold; and they were warming themselves: and Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself.
The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his teaching.
20 Jisọs zara ya, “Nʼihu ọha mmadụ ka m kwuru okwu niile m kwuru. A kuziri m ihe nʼime ụlọ ekpere na nʼime ụlọnsọ ukwu ebe ndị Juu na-ezukọ. Ekwukwaghị m ihe ọbụla na nzuzo.
Jesus answered him, I have spoken openly to the world; I ever taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and in secret spake I nothing.
21 Gịnị mere i ji ajụ m? Jụọ ndị niile gere m ntị! Ha makwaara ihe niile m kwuru.”
Why askest thou me? ask them that have heard [me], what I spake unto them: behold, these know the things which I said.
22 Mgbe o kwuru nke a, otu onye nʼime ndị na-eje ozi guzo nʼakụkụ ya, mara Jisọs ụra nʼihu, sị, “Ọ bụ otu a ka ị si aza onyeisi nchụaja ajụjụ?”
And when he had said this, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
23 Jisọs zara ya, “Ọ bụrụ na ọ dị ihe ọjọọ m kwuru, gbaa ama megide okwu ọjọọ dị otu a, ma ọ bụrụ na m kwuru eziokwu, gịnị mere i ji ama m ụra.”
Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
24 Ya mere, Anas kere ya agbụ zigara ya Kaịfas onyeisi nchụaja.
Annas therefore sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.
25 Ma dịka Saimọn Pita ka guzo nʼebe ahụ na-anya ọkụ, ha sịrị ya, “Ọ bụ na ị bụghị otu onye nʼime ndị na-eso ụzọ ya?” Ma ọ gọrọ agọ sị, “Abụghị m ya.”
Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore unto him, Art thou also [one] of his disciples? He denied, and said, I am not.
26 Otu nʼime ndị ohu onyeisi nchụaja, bụ onye ikwu nwoke ahụ Pita bipụrụ ntị, sịrị, “Ọ bụ na m ahụghị gị na ya nʼime ogige ahụ?”
One of the servants of the high priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
27 Ma Pita gọkwara agọ ọzọ. Nʼotu mgbe ahụ oke ọkụkụ kwara akwa.
Peter therefore denied again: and straightway the cock crew.
They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the palace: and it was early; and they themselves entered not into the palace, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.
29 Pailet gakwuru ha nʼezi sị, “Gịnị bụ ebubo unu na-ebo nwoke a?”
Pilate therefore went out unto them, and saith, What accusation bring ye against this man?
They answered and said unto him, If this man were not an evil-doer, we should not have delivered him up unto thee.
31 Pailet sịrị, “Durunụ ya pụọ kpee ya ikpe nʼonwe unu dị ka iwu unu si dị.” Ndị Juu sịrị ya, “Ma anyị enweghị ikike igbu onye o bụla.”
Pilate therefore said unto them, Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law. The Jews said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
32 Nke a mere iji mezuo okwu ahụ Jisọs kwuru banyere ụdị ọnwụ ọ gaje ịnwụ.
that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying by what manner of death he should die.
33 Mgbe ahụ Pailet baghachiri nʼime ụlọeze ahụ, zie ozi ka a kpọọrọ ya Jisọs. Ọ jụrụ ya, “Ị bụ eze ndị Juu?”
Pilate therefore entered again into the palace, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
34 Jisọs zara, “Ị na-ajụ nke a nʼonwe gị ka ọ bụ ihe ndị ọzọ gwara gị banyere m?”
Jesus answered, Sayest thou this of thyself, or did others tell it thee concerning me?
35 Pailet zara, “Abụ m onye Juu? Ọ bụ ndị ala gị na ndịisi nchụaja unu kpọtaara m gị. Gịnị ka i mere?”
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
36 Jisọs zara, “Alaeze m abụghị nke ụwa a. A sị na alaeze m bụ nke ụwa a, ndị na-ejere m ozi gaara ịlụrụ m ọgụ iji gbochie m ịdaba nʼaka ndị Juu. Ma ugbu a, alaeze m abụghị nke ụwa a.”
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
37 Pailet sịrị ya, “Ya bụ na ị bụ eze?” Jisọs zara, “Gị onwe gị kwuru na m bụ eze. Amụrụ m nʼihi nke a, ọ bụkwa nʼihi nke a ka m ji bi a nʼụwa ịgba ama banyere eziokwu. Onye ọbụla hụrụ eziokwu nʼanya na-ege m ntị.”
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end have I been born, and to this end am I come into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
38 Pailet sịrị ya, “Gịnị bụ eziokwu?” Mgbe o kwuchara nke a, ọ pụrụ jekwuuru ndị Juu ọzọ sị ha, “Ọ dịghị ihe ọbụla m chọpụtara megidere ya.
Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find no crime in him.
39 Ma ọ bụ omenaala unu, na m ga-ahapụrụ unu otu onye mkpọrọ nʼoge Mmemme Ngabiga. Unu chọrọ ka m hapụrụ unu ‘eze ndị Juu’?”
But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
They cried out therefore again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
