1 Tupu oge Mmemme Ngabiga eruo, Jisọs amatala na oge ọ ga-ahapụ ụwa lakwuru Nna ya eruola. Ọ hụrụ ndị nke ya nọ nʼụwa nʼanya, hụkwa ha nʼanya ruo ọgwụgwụ.
Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
2 Mgbe a na-eri nri anyasị, ekwensu etinyelarị ya nʼime obi Judas Iskarịọt, nwa Saimọn ka ọ rara ya nye.
And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s [son], to betray him,
[Jesus], knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and goeth unto God,
4 Ya mere, o sitere nʼoche ọ nọkwasịrị bilie ọtọ, yipụ uwe nke elu ya, chiri akwa mmiri e ji ehicha ahụ kee nʼukwu ya.
riseth from supper, and layeth aside his garments; and he took a towel, and girded himself.
Then he poureth water into the bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Ọ bịakwutere Saimọn Pita, onye sịrị ya, “Onyenwe m, ị ga-asa m ụkwụ?”
So he cometh to Simon Peter. He saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Ma Jisọs zara sị ya, “Ị ghọtaghị ihe m na-eme ugbu a, ma emesịa ị ga-aghọta ya.”
Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt understand hereafter.
Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. (aiōn g165)
9 Saimọn Pita sịrị ya, “Onyenwe m, ọ bụghị naanị ụkwụ m ka ị ga-asa, kama saakwa aka m na isi m.”
Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
Jesus saith to him, He that is bathed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
For he knew him that should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Unu na-akpọ m Onyenwe unu na Nna unu ukwu, unu mere nke ọma nʼihi na nke a ka m bụ.
Ye call me, Master, and, Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 Ebe ọ bụ na mụ onwe m, bụ Nna unu ukwu na Onyenwe unu sachara unu ụkwụ, unu kwesikwara ịsachakwa ụkwụ ibe unu.
If I then, the Lord and the Master, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 Nke a bụ ihe nṅomi m nyere unu, meenụ dị ka mụ onwe m mere unu.
For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you.
16 Nʼezie, nʼezie, ohu adịghị adị ukwuu karịa nna ya ukwu, maọbụ onye e ziri ozi a karịa onye ziri ya ozi.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord; neither one that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 Ọ bụrụ na unu a mara ihe ndị a, ngọzị ga-adịrị unu ma unu mee ha.
If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.
18 “Anaghị m ekwu maka unu niile, amaara m ndị m họpụtara. Ma nke a bụ imezu ihe e dere nʼakwụkwọ nsọ, ‘Onye mụ na ya na-erikọ nri ebiliela megide m.’
I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth my bread lifted up his heel against me.
19 “Ana m agwa unu ugbu a tupu ihe ndị a emee, ka unu kwere na mụ bụ ya mgbe ọ ga-emezu.
From henceforth I tell you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am [he].
20 Nʼezie, nʼezie, agwa m unu, onye ọbụla nabatara onye m zitere nabatara m. Onye ọbụla nabatara m nabatakwara onye zitere m.”
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
21 Mgbe Jisọs kwusiri ihe ndị a, o nweghị udo nʼime mmụọ ya. Ọ gbara ama sị, “Nʼezie, nʼezie, a sị m unu, na otu onye nʼime unu ga-arara m nye.”
When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in the spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
The disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
There was at the table reclining in Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24 Saimọn Pita fufeere ya isi, ka ọ, Jụọ ya onye ọ na-ekwu maka ya.
Simon Peter therefore beckoneth to him, and saith unto him, Tell [us] who it is of whom he speaketh.
25 Ebe ọ dabere Jisọs nso, ọ sịrị ya, “Onyenwe anyị, onye ka ọ bụ?”
He leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
26 Jisọs zara, “Ọ bụ onye ahụ m ga-enye iberibe achịcha a mgbe m sunyere ya nʼime efere nri.” Mgbe o sunyesịrị achịcha ahụ nʼime efere ahụ, o nyere ya Judas nwa Saimọn Iskarịọt.
Jesus therefore answereth, He it is, for whom I shall dip the sop, and give it him. So when he had dipped the sop, he taketh and giveth it to Judas, [the son] of Simon Iscariot.
27 Mgbe ọ narasịrị iberibe achịcha ahụ, ekwensu bara nʼime ya. Jisọs sịrị ya, “Ihe ọbụla ị chọrọ ime, mee ya ngwangwa.”
And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saith unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
28 Ma ọ dịghị onye ọbụla so nọrọ nʼoche nri ghọtara ihe mere o ji gwa ya otu a.
Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.
29 Nʼihi na ụfọdụ na-eche, ebe Judas ji akpa ego ha, Jisọs na-asị ya ka ọ gaa zụta ihe ndị dị mkpa maka mmemme, maọbụ ka ọ gaa nye ndị ogbenye ihe.
For some thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus said unto him, Buy what things we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
30 Mgbe ọ natachara iberibe achịcha ahụ, ọ pụrụ na-atụfughị oge, ọchịchịrị agbaala.
He then having received the sop went out straightway: and it was night.
31 Mgbe ọ pụrụ, Jisọs sịrị, “Ugbu a ka a na-enye Nwa nke Mmadụ otuto, a na-enyekwa Chineke otuto nʼime ya.
When therefore he was gone out, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him;
and God shall glorify him in himself, and straightway shall he glorify him.
33 “Ụmụntakịrị m, enwere m oge ntakịrị nke mụ na unu ga-anọ. Unu ga-achọ m, ma dị ka m gwara ndị Juu ka m na-agwa unu ugbu a. Ebe m na-aga unu enweghị ike ịbịa ya.
Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say unto you.
34 “Ana m enye unu iwu ọhụrụ: Hụrịtanụ onwe unu nʼanya. Dị ka m hụrụ unu nʼanya, otu a ka unu ga-esi hụrịta onwe unu nʼanya.
A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 Ọ bụrụ na unu ahụrịta onwe unu nʼanya, otu a ka mmadụ niile ga-esi mata na unu bụ ndị na-eso ụzọ m.”
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Jisọs zaghachiri ya, “Ebe m na-aga, i nweghị ike iso m gaa ya ugbu a. Ma ị ga-abịa ma emesịa.”
Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow afterwards.
37 Pita sịrị ya, “Onyenwe anyị, gịnị mere na m apụghị isoro gị ugbu a? Aga m atọgbọ ndụ m nʼihi gị.”
Peter saith unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee even now? I will lay down my life for thee.
38 Jisọs zaghachiri, “I jikeere ịtọgbọ ndụ gị nʼihi m? Nʼezie, nʼezie, asị m gị, tupu oke ọkụkụ akwaa akwa, ị ga-agọnarị m ugboro atọ.”
Jesus answereth, Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
