< Job 5 >

1 “Kpọọ oku ma ị chọọ, ma onyekwanụ ga-aza gị? Ole ndị dị nsọ ị ga-agbakwuru?
Call if you want, but who is going to answer you? Which angel are you going to turn to?
2 Oke iwe na-egbu onye nzuzu, ekworo na-egbu onye na-enweghị uche.
Surely anger slays the fool and jealousy kills the simple.
3 Mụ onwe m ahụla onye nzuzu ka ọ na-agba mgbọrọgwụ, mana mberede, abụrụ ụlọ ya ọnụ.
I have seen a fool growing strong, but I immediately cursed his house.
4 Ụmụ ya na-anọpụ anya site nʼebe nchebe dị, a na-azọpịa ha nʼọnụ ụzọ ama, ọ dịkwaghị onye na-anapụta ha.
His sons are never safe; they are crushed in court with no one to defend them.
5 Onye agụụ na-agụ na-eripịa ihe o wetara nʼubi; ọ na-ewere ihe ubi ndị a ọ bụladị site nʼetiti ogwu; akụnụba ya ka onye akpịrị na-akpọ nkụ ga-achụso.
The hungry eat everything he has harvested, taking even that protected by a thorn hedge, while others look to steal his wealth.
6 Nʼihi na ọnọdụ ọjọọ adịghị esite nʼala pupụta, ma ọ bụkwanụ nsogbu adịghịkwa esite nʼala walite.
For evil doesn't come from the dust; neither does trouble grow from the earth.
7 Kama, a mụrụ mmadụ nye nsogbu, dịka ire ọkụ si esite nʼọkụ a kwanyere na-amali elu.
But human beings are born for trouble just as certainly as sparks from a fire fly upwards.
8 “Ma ọ bụrụ na m bụ gị, m ga-ekpesara Chineke; ya ka m ga-akọsara ihe niile.
If it were me, I would go to God and put my case before him.
9 Nʼihi na Chineke na-arụ ọrụ ịtụnanya karịrị nghọta, ọrụ ebube nke a na-apụghị ịgụta ọnụ.
He is the one who does amazing, incredible things; miracles that can't be counted!
10 Ọ bụ ya na-enye elu ụwa mmiri ozuzo, ma na-ezigakwa mmiri nʼubi niile.
He gives rain to the earth and sends water to the fields.
11 Ọ na-ebuli ndị dị ala elu, na-emekwa ka ndị na-eru ụjụ nọ nʼebe a na-echebe ha.
He exalts the humble, and rescues those who mourn.
12 Ọ na-emebi nzube niile nke ndị aghụghọ, ka aka ha ghara imezu ihe ha zubere.
He frustrates the plans of the cunning so that they are unsuccessful.
13 Ọ na-ejide ndị oke amamihe nʼaghụghọ ha niile, mee ka atụmatụ ndị aghụghọ bụrụ ihe e kpochapụrụ.
He traps the wise in their own clever thinking, and the schemes of twisted people are cut short.
14 Ọchịchịrị na-abịakwasị ha nʼoge ehihie, nʼetiti ehihie ha na-asọ ìsì dịka ndị nọ nʼọchịchịrị nke abalị;
In the daytime they're in the dark, and they stumble around at noon like it's night.
15 Ọ na-azọpụta ndị mkpa na-akpa, site na mma agha dị ha nʼọnụ, ọ na-anapụtakwa ha site nʼaka ndị dị ike.
But God is the one who saves from their cutting remarks, and the poor from the actions of the powerful.
16 Ya mere, ndị ogbenye na-enwe olileanya, ikpe ezighị ezi na-emechikwa ọnụ ya.
As a result those who are helpless have hope, and the wicked have to shut their mouths!
17 “Ngọzị na-adịrị mmadụ ahụ Chineke na-adọ aka na ntị; ya mere, ajụla ịdọ aka na ntị nke Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile.
See how happy is the person God corrects—so don't despise the Almighty's discipline.
18 Nʼihi na ọ na-etihịa mmadụ ahụ ma na-ekechikwa ọnya ha; Ọ na-eti mmadụ ihe, ma aka ya na-agwọkwa.
For he causes pain but he provides relief; he wounds but his hands heal.
19 Ọ ga-anapụta gị site nʼụzọ nsogbu isii, mee ka ihe ọjọọ hapụ irute gị na nsogbu nke asaa.
He will save you from many disasters; a multitude of evils will not affect you.
20 Ọ ga-echebe gị ka ị hapụ ịnwụ nʼoge ụnwụ; chebekwa gị ka mma agha hapụ ịmetụ gị nʼoge agha.
In times of famine he will rescue you from death, and in times of war he will save you from the power of the sword.
21 Ị ga-abụ onye a na-echebe site na nkwutọ nke ire ndị ga-ekwutọ gị. Ị gaghị atụkwa egwu mgbe mbibi bịara.
You will be protected from sharp-tongued slander; and when violence comes you will not be afraid.
22 Ị ga-achị ọchị nʼoge ụnwụ na nʼoge mbibi, ị gaghị atụkwa egwu ajọ anụ ọhịa dị iche iche.
You will laugh at violence and famine; you won't be afraid of wild animals—
23 Nʼihi na gị na nkume niile dị nʼọhịa ga-agba ndụ, gị na anụ ọhịa ga-anọkwa nʼudo.
for you will be at peace with the stones of the field and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
24 Ị ga-amata na ụlọ ikwu gị dị nʼudo; ị ga-agụkọ ihe niile i nwere chọpụta na o nweghị nke na-efu efu.
You will be certain that your home is safe, for you will go to where you live and find nothing missing.
25 Ị ga-amata na ụmụ gị ga-adị ọtụtụ, matakwa na ụmụ ụmụ gị dị ukwuu nʼọnụọgụgụ dịka ahịhịa dị nʼala.
You will also be sure that you will have many children; your descendants will be like the grass of the earth.
26 Ị ga-aba nʼili gị mgbe i mere nnọọ ezigbo agadi, dịka ọka a ghọrọ mgbe oge ya ruru.
You will live to a ripe old age like a sheaf of grain when it is harvested.
27 “Anyị enyochaala ihe a, hụ na ọ bụ eziokwu. Ya mere nụrụ ya, ma jiri ya rụọ ọrụ na ndụ gị.”
Look, we've examined it, and it's true! Listen to what I'm saying and apply it to yourself!”
