< Job 38 >

1 Mgbe ahụ, Onyenwe anyị sitere nʼoke ifufe gwa Job okwu sị:
Then did the Lord address Job out of the storm-wind, and said,
2 “Onye bụ onye a nke ji okwu ihe ọmụma na-adịghị na ya na-eme ka atụmatụ m ghara ịpụta ìhè?
Who is this that casteth darkness [on my] counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Ugbu a, jikere onwe gị dịka dimkpa nʼihi na enwere m ajụjụ m ga-ajụ gị nke m chọrọ ka i nye m ọsịsa ha.
Do but gird up like a mighty man thy loins: and I will ask thee, and do thou inform me.
4 “Ebee ka ị nọ mgbe m tọrọ ntọala ụwa? Gwa m ma ọ bụrụ na ị ghọtara.
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? tell it, if thou hast any understanding [of it].
5 Onye kpebiri ihe ụwa ga-aha ka ya? Nʼezie ị maara, onye setịrị ihe ọtụtụ e ji tụọ ya nʼelu ya?
Who fixed her measurements, if thou knowest it? or who stretched the measuring-line over her?
6 Nʼelu gịnị ka a tọrọ ntọala ya, onye doro nkume mbụ e ji tọọ ntọala ya?
Upon what are her foundation-pillars placed at rest? or who laid her corner-stone:
7 Mgbe kpakpando nke isi ụtụtụ zukọrọ bụọ abụ, ụmụ Chineke niile tisikwara mkpu ọṅụ ike?
When altogether sang the morning stars in gladness, and shouted for joy all the sons of God?
8 “Onye kara akara nye osimiri iwu ebe ọ ga-ejedebe mgbe o nupụtara dịka a ga-asị na o si nʼakpanwa pụta,
And who closed up with doors the sea, when, issuing forth, it came out of the deep bosom of the earth?
9 mgbe m yikwasịrị ha igwe ojii dịka uwe, werekwa ọchịchịrị meere ya akwa okike,
When I made the clouds its garment, and thick fog its swaddling-cloth,
10 mgbe m kpaara ya oke ebe ọ ga-akwụsị, tinye ibo ọnụ ụzọ na mkpọrọ e ji akpọchi ya,
And when I decreed for it my law, and set [for it] bars and doors,
11 mgbe m sịrị, ‘Ruo ebe a ka ị ga-asọrute, ị gaghị agabiga ya, nʼebe a ka a ga-akwụsị ebili mmiri mpako gị’?
And said, Thus far mayest thou come, but no farther; and here shall be stayed [thy strength] in the pride of thy waves?
12 “O nweela oge i nyere ụtụtụ iwu, maọbụ mee ka chi ọbụbọ maara ọnọdụ ya,
Didst thou ever, in all thy days, command the morning; didst thou ever assign the morning-dawn its place:
13 ka o jide akụkụ niile nke ụwa aka ma site nʼụwa yọpụ ndị mmebi iwu?
That it might lay hold of the ends of the earth, so that the wicked might be shaken out therefrom?
14 Ụwa na-ewere ụdịdị ya dịka ụrọ a kakwasịrị akara; ụdịdị ya na-egosipụta dịka uwe.
She is changed as the sealing-clay: and [all things] stand as though newly clad.
15 A na-eme ka ndị na-emebi iwu ghara inwe ìhè, meekwa ka aka e weliri elu bụrụ nke a nyajiri.
And from the wicked is their light withdrawn, and the high-raised arm is broken.
16 “I jeruola nʼisi iyi mmiri dị nʼosimiri, ka i jegharịala nʼebe miri emi nke ogbu mmiri?
Didst thou ever penetrate as far as the springs of the sea? or wander through the bottom of the deep?
17 O nweela onye gosiri gị ọnụ ụzọ ọnwụ? Ka i jirila anya gị hụ ọnụ ụzọ nke onyinyo ọnwụ?
Were the gates of death ever laid open unto thee? or canst thou see the doors of the shadow of death?
18 Ị ghọtara ịdị ukwu nke ụwa na otu o si gbasapụ? Gwa m, ma ọ bụrụ na ị maara ihe ndị a niile.
Hast thou a clear understanding of the breadth of the earth? Tell it, if thou knowest it all.
19 “Olee ụzọ e si aga ebe ìhè bi? Olee ebe ọchịchịrị bi?
Where is the way [to the spot where] the light dwelleth? and the darkness—where is its place,
20 Ị nwere ike iduru ha jee nʼebe ha bi? Ị maara ụzọ e si eje ebe obibi ha?
That thou mightest take each to its boundary, and that thou mightest mark the pathways to its house?
21 Nʼezie ị maara, nʼihi na a mụọla gị tupu e kee ihe ndị a! Ị bikwaala ọtụtụ afọ.
Thou [surely] knowest it; because thou wast then born, and the number of thy days is great!
22 “Ị banyela nʼụlọ niile ebe a na-achịkọba snoo, ka ị hụla ụlọ niile ebe a na-achịkọba mkpụrụ mmiri igwe,
Didst thou ever enter into the treasuries of the snow? or canst thou see the treasuries of the hail,
23 nke m chekwara nye oge nsogbu, nʼoge ọgụ na nʼoge agha?
Which I have reserved for the time of distress, for the day of fight and battle?
24 Kedụ ụzọ e si ejeru ebe a na-anọ ekesasị amụma egbe eluigwe, ebee ka e si ekesasị ifufe ọwụwa anyanwụ nʼelu ụwa?
Where is the way [to the spot where] the light divideth itself, [where] the east wind is scattered over the earth?
25 Onye wara ụzọ maka oke mmiri ozuzo, onye kwa waara amụma na egbe eluigwe ụzọ?
Who hath divided off watercourses for the overflowing rain, and a way for the lightning [that is followed by] thunders,
26 Si otu a mee ka mmiri zokwasị ebe mmadụ na-ebighị, ala ọzara ebe ọ dịghị onye nọ nʼime ya,
To bring rain on a land, void of men; on a wilderness wherein no son of earth [is found];
27 ka mmiri ozuzo mee ka ala kpọrọ nkụ nweta mmiri iji mee ka ahịhịa pupụta nʼime ya.
To satisfy waste and desolate lands; and to promote the growth of the tender grass?
28 Mmiri ozuzo o nwere nna? Onye mụrụ igirigi?
Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of the dew?
29 Site nʼakpanwa onye ka mkpụrụ mmiri si apụta? Onye kwa bụ nne oke oyi nke eluigwe,
Out of whose womb cometh forth the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven—who giveth birth to it?
30 nke na-eme ka mmiri kpụkọtaa dịrị ike dịka nkume, meekwa ka ihu ogbu mmiri kpụkọta?
[When] like a stone the waters are congealed, and the face of the deep is bound in fetters?
31 “Ị pụrụ ikechi agbụ niile nke Pleiades? Ị pụrụ ịtọpụ ihe nkechikọta Orion?
Canst thou bind together the chains of the Pleiades, or loosen the bands of Orion?
32 Ị pụrụ ime ka igwe kpakpando pụta nʼoge ha maọbụ dupụta anụ ndọgbu Bịa na ụmụ ya ndị ọzọ?
Canst thou bring forth the constellations of the zodiac, each in its season? or canst thou guide the Bear with its young?
33 Ị maara iwu na-achị ihe niile dị na mbara eluigwe? Ị pụrụ inye ha ike ịchị ụwa?
Knowest thou the laws of heaven? or dost thou appoint its rule on the earth?
34 “Ị pụrụ iti mkpu ruo igwe ojii si otu a mee ka idee mmiri kpuchie gị?
Canst thou lift up to the clouds thy voice, that the abundance of waters may cover thee?
35 Ị pụrụ izipụ amụma egbe eluigwe nʼụzọ ha? Ha na-asị gị, ‘Ebe a ka anyị nọ’?
Canst thou send out lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here are we?
36 Onye na-etinye amamihe nʼobi mmadụ, maọbụ na-enye oke ọkpa nghọta?
Who hath put wisdom in the dark clouds? or who hath given understanding to the bright meteors?
37 Onye nwere amamihe ịgụ igwe ojii niile dị na mbara eluigwe ọnụ? Onye kwa pụrụ ịhulata karama mmiri niile nke eluigwe niile,
Who ordaineth the skies with wisdom? or who emptieth out the bottles of heaven.
38 mgbe aja dị nʼala siri ike, mgbe ọkpụrụkpụ aja dị nʼala na-akpụkọta nʼahụ ibe ha?
When the dust is poured out as molten metal, and the clods are made to cleave fast together?
39 “Ọ bụ gị na-achụtara nne ọdụm ihe oriri, mee ka afọ ju ụmụ ọdụm
Dost thou hunt for the lioness her prey? and suppliest thou the food for the young lions,
40 mgbe ha makpuuru nʼime ọgba ha, maọbụ mgbe ha zoro onwe ha na-eche anụ nʼọhịa?
When they are couched in their lairs, rest in the thicket, lying in wait?
41 Onye na-edoziri ugolọma ihe oriri ya, mgbe ụmụ ya na-etiku Chineke mkpu agụ, mgbe ha na-akpagharị na-achọ ihe oriri?
Who provideth for the raven his provision? when his young ones cry unto God, and wander about for lack of food?
