< Job 3 >

1 Nʼikpeazụ, onye kwuru okwu bụ Job nʼonwe ya. O kwuru okwu bụọ ụbọchị a mụrụ ya ọnụ.
After this Job opened his mouth, and cursed his day,
2 Job sịrị:
saying,
3 “Ka ụbọchị ahụ amụrụ m bụrụ ụbọchị lara nʼiyi; ya na abalị ahụ e kwuru sị, ‘Atụrụ ime nwa nwoke.’
Let the day perish in which I was born, and that night in which they said, Behold a boy!
4 Ụbọchị ahụ, ka ọ ghọọ ọchịchịrị: ka Chineke site nʼelu ghara ịjụ ase ya; ka ìhè gharakwa ịmụkwasị ya.
Let that night be darkness, and let not the Lord regard it from above, neither let light come upon it.
5 Ka ọchịchịrị na onyinyo ọnwụ gbara ụbọchị ahụ dịka ụbọchị nke aka ya, ka igwe ojii kpuchigidekwa ya, ka ọchịchịrị kpuchie ya nʼebe ọ dị ukwuu.
But let darkness and the shadow of death seize it; let blackness come upon it;
6 Abalị ahụ, ka oke ọchịchịrị kpuchie ya, ka a kachapụ ya, ka ọ hapụ ịbụkwa ụbọchị a ga-agụkọ ya na ụbọchị ndị ọzọ nʼafọ, ka ọ ghara dịka otu ụbọchị nke na-adị nʼọnwa.
let that day and night be cursed, let darkness carry them away; let it not come into the days of the year, neither let it be numbered with the days of the months.
7 Ka abalị ụbọchị ahụ bụrụ ụbọchị tọgbọrọ nʼefu, ka a ghara ịnụ mkpu ọṅụ ọbụla nʼime ya.
But let that night be pain, and let not mirth come upon it, nor joy.
8 Ka ndị ahụ na-abụ ụbọchị ọnụ bụọ ụbọchị ahụ ọnụ, bụ ndị ahụ jikeere ịkpọte Leviatan.
But let him that curses that day curse it, [even] he that is ready to attack the great whale.
9 Ka kpakpando ụtụtụ ya gbaa ọchịchịrị, ka o lee anya ìhè na-efu, ka ọ ghara ihu mgbubere anya nke chi ọbụbọ,
Let the stars of that night be darkened; let it remain [dark], and not come into light; and let it not see the morning star arise:
10 nʼihi na o mechighị akpanwa nne m, i zonarịkwa anya m nsogbu.
because it shut not up the gates of my mother's womb, for [so] it would have removed sorrow from my eyes.
11 “Gịnị mere m ji hapụ ịnwụ mgbe ahụ nne m mụpụtara m, kubie ume mgbe m si nʼime akpanwa pụta?
For why died I not in the belly? and [why] did I not come forth from the womb and die immediately?
12 Gịnị mere ikpere ji dịrị ịnabata m? Gịnị mere ara ji dịrị i ji zụọ m?
and why did the knees support me? and why did I suck the breasts?
13 Nʼihi na ugbu a, agara m idina nʼudo; agaara m anọ nʼụra na izuike,
Now I should have lain down and been quiet, I should have slept and been at rest,
14 mụ na ndị eze na ndị ọchịchị nke ụwa, ndị rụkwaara onwe ha ebe obibi dị iche iche nke tọgbọọrọ nʼefu ugbu a,
with kings [and] councillors of the earth, who gloried in [their] swords;
15 mụ na ụmụ ndị ikom eze, ndị nwere ọlaedo, ndị jikwa ọlaọcha kpojuo ụlọ ha.
or with rulers, whose gold was abundant, who filled their houses with silver:
16 Ọ bụ gịnị mere e zofughị m nʼala dịka nwantakịrị a mụkworo amụkwo, dịka nwa ọhụrụ nke na-ahụghị ìhè nke ụbọchị anya?
or [I should have been] as an untimely birth proceeding from his mother's womb, or as infants who never saw light.
17 Nʼebe ahụ ka ndị na-emebi iwu na-akwụsị iweta ọgbaaghara, nʼebe ahụ ka ndị ike gwụrụ na-ezu ike.
There the ungodly have burnt out the fury of rage; there the wearied in body rest.
18 Ebe ahụ ka ndị nọ nʼagbụ na-enwere onwe ha, ha adịghị anụkwa ịba mba nke ndị na-eji aka ike achị ha.
And the men of old time have together ceased to hear the exactor's voice.
19 Ebe ahụ ka ndị ukwu na ndị nta nọ; ebe ahụ kwa ka ohu na-enwere onwe ya kpamkpam site nʼaka onye nwe ya.
The small and great are there, and the servant that feared his lord.
20 “Nʼihi gịnị ka e ji enye ndị nọ nʼọnọdụ nhụju anya ìhè? Gịnị bụ uru ndụ nye onye mkpụrụobi ya jupụtara nʼihe ilu?
For why is light given to those who are in bitterness, and life to those souls which are in griefs?
21 Gịnị bụ uru ya nye ndị na-echere ọnwụ ma ọ dịghị abịa, ee, ndị na-achọsi ọnwụ ike karịa akụ e zoro ezo,
who desire death, and obtain it not, digging [for it] as [for] treasures;
22 ndị jupụtara nʼọṅụ, na-aṅụrị ọṅụ mgbe ha rịdaruru nʼili?
and would be very joyful if they should gain it?
23 Gịnị mere e ji enye mmadụ ndụ; bụ onye ahụ ụzọ ya zoro ezo, onye Chineke mechibidoro ụzọ?
Death [is] rest to [such] a man, for God has hedged him in.
24 Nʼihi na ịma ọsụ aghọọla ihe oriri m kwa ụbọchị; ịsụ ude m na-awụpụtakwa dịka mmiri.
For my groaning comes before my food, and I weep being beset with terror.
25 Ihe m tụrụ egwu ya abịakwasịla m, ihe m tụrụ ụjọ ya bụ ihe bịakwasịrị m.
For the terror of which I meditated has come upon me, and that which I had feared has befallen me.
26 Enweghị m udo, anọkwaghị m jụụ, enweghị m izuike, naanị ọgbaaghara.”
I was not at peace, nor quiet, nor had I rest; yet wrath came upon me.
