< Job 15 >
1 Mgbe ahụ, Elifaz onye Teman zara sị:
Then answered Eliphaz the Themanite, and said,
2 “Onye maara ihe ọ ga-eji okwu na-abaghị uru zaghachi? Ọ ga-emeju afọ ya nʼifufe na-ekpo ọkụ nke si nʼọwụwa anyanwụ?
Should a wise man utter windy knowledge, and fill his inward parts with the east wind?
3 Ọ ga-eji okwu na-abaghị uru rụọ ụka, maọbụ kwuo okwu na-enweghị isi?
Should he reason with a speech which availeth nothing? and with words in which there is no profit?
4 Ma ị na-eleda ezi omume anya na-egbochikwa ịsọpụrụ Chineke.
Yea, thou truly makest void the fear [of God], and diminishest devotion before God.
5 Mmehie gị na-eme ka ọnụ gị kwuo okwu ngwangwa; ọ bụkwa ire ndị aghụghọ ka i nwere.
For thy iniquity teacheth thy mouth, so that thou choosest the language of the crafty.
6 Ọnụ gị na-ama gị ikpe, ọ bụghị mụ onwe m, egbugbere ọnụ gị na-ekwu okwu megide gị.
Thy own mouth must condemn thee, but not I: yea, thy own lips will testify against thee.
7 “Ị bụ mmadụ mbụ a mụrụ? A mụọla gị tupu e kee ugwu niile?
Wast thou born as the first man? or wast thou brought forth before the hills?
8 Ọ getụla ntị nʼizu nzuzo nke Chineke? Amamihe niile ọ bụ nʼime gị ka ha juru?
Hast thou listened to the secret counsel of God? and is wisdom therefore of little esteem with thee?
9 Gịnị ka ị maara nke anyị na-amaghị? Ụdị nghọta dị aṅaa ka i nwere nke anyị na-enweghị?
What knowest thou, that we do not know? what understandest thou, which is not with us?
10 Ndịisi awọ na ndị kara nka nọ nʼetiti anyị, ndị ikom mere agadi karịa nna mụrụ gị.
Both the grayheaded and the very aged are among us, — richer than thy father in days.
11 Ọ ga-abụ na nkasiobi Chineke bụrụ gị ihe nta, ka ọ bụ okwu dị nro nke ọ gwara gị?
Are the divine consolations too little for thee? and the word that was so mild with thee?
12 Gịnị mere obi gị ji duhie gị, gịnị mekwara anya gị abụọ ji chagharịa,
Whither doth thy heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes gaze at?
13 nke mere iwe gị jiri dị ọkụ megide Chineke, meekwa ka okwu ọjọọ ndị a niile si nʼọnụ gị pụta?
That thou shouldst turn against God thy spirit, and utter [such] words out of thy mouth?
14 “Gịnị ka mmadụ efu bụ, ọ ga-eji dị ọcha nʼobi, gịnị ka mmadụ nwanyị mụrụ bụ, na ha nwere ike ị bụ ndị ezi omume?
What is man, that he should be pure? and that he who is born of woman should be declared righteous?
15 Ọ bụrụ na Chineke atụkwasịghị ndị nsọ ya obi, ọ bụrụkwa na eluigwe adịghị ọcha nʼanya ya,
Behold, in his holy ones he putteth no trust; and the heavens are not pure in his eyes:
16 ọ ga-esi aṅaa tụkwasị mmadụ efu onye rụrụ arụ obi, bụ onye na-aṅụ ajọ omume dịka mmiri.
How much more then the abominable and corrupt, the man who drinketh like water wrong-doing?
17 “Gee m ntị ka m kọwaara gị; kwerekwa ka m gwa gị ihe m hụrụ,
I will instruct thee, hear me; and what I have seen will I relate;
18 bụ ihe ndị amamihe kwuru, ndị na-ezobeghị ihe ha natara nʼaka nna nna ha,
Which wise men have ever told, and have not concealed, as they obtained it from their fathers;
19 bụ ndị e nyefere ala ndị a nʼaka ha mgbe ọ dịghị onye ọbịa gabigara nʼetiti ha.
Unto whom alone the earth was given, and into whose midst no stranger ever entered.
20 Ụbọchị ndụ ya niile, onye ajọ omume na-ata ahụhụ mmekpa ahụ, bụ nke e debere ogologo afọ nye nwoke ahụ na-eme ihe ike.
All his days is the wicked plagued with pain, and the number of years which are laid by for the tyrant.
21 Ụzụ na-eweta oke egwu na-eju ya ntị, mgbe ọ dị ka ihe niile na-aga nke ọma, ndị na-apụnara mmadụ ihe na-abịakwasị ya.
A sound of terrors is in his ears: during peace will the waster come over him.
22 O nweghị olileanya ịgbanarị ọchịchịrị; mma agha nọ na-echere ya.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is looked for by the sword.
23 Ọ na-akpagharị na-achọ ebe nri dịka udele; ọ makwara na ụbọchị ọchịchịrị nọ nso.
He wandereth abroad for bread, [saying, ] Where is it? he knoweth that there is ready at his hand the day of darkness.
24 Ahụhụ na mkpagbu na-eme ka ọ tụọ oke egwu, nsogbu na-abịakwasị ya dịka eze nke nọ na njikere ibuso ndị iro ya agha.
Distress and anguish terrify him: they assail him with might, as a king prepared for the battle.
25 Nʼihi na ọ na-atụ Chineke aka nʼihu, dokwaa onwe ya imegide Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile.
Because he had stretched out against God his hand, and strengthened himself against the Almighty;
26 O ji ikwesi olu ike, dịka ọta siri ike, na-emegide Chineke.
[And] he had run against him, with an [extended] neck, with the thick roundings of his bucklers;
27 “Ọ bụ ezie na abụba kpuchiri ihu ya, abụba nke dị nʼukwu ya na-eme ka anụ ahụ nupụtakwa,
Because he had covered his face with his fat, and had made thick folds of fat on his flanks;
28 ọ ga-ebi nʼobodo e bibiri ebibi, nʼụlọ nke mmadụ na-ekwesighị ibi nʼime ha, ụlọ nke na-adakasị adakasị.
And he dwelt in abandoned cities, in houses which none inhabited, which were destined to be ruinous heaps.
29 Ma ọ gaghị aga nʼihu ị bụ ọgaranya, akụ ya agaghị adịgidekwa. Ihe o nwere agakwaghị agbasapụ nʼala niile ahụ.
[Yet] will he not remain rich, neither will his wealth endure, nor will he attain their perfection on earth.
30 Ọ gaghị agbanarị ọchịchịrị, ire ọkụ ga-eme ka ome ya kpọnwụọ, iku ume nke ọnụ Chineke ga-ebufu ya.
He will never depart out of darkness: the flame shall dry up his shoots, and he will depart by the breath of God's mouth.
31 Ka onye dị otu a hapụ ịghọgbu onwe ya site nʼịtụkwasị uche nʼihe efu, nʼihi na ọ dịghị ụgwọ ọrụ ọbụla ọ ga-enweta.
Let him that goeth astray not trust in vanity; for vanity will be what he obtaineth thereby.
32 Tụpụ oge ya eruo, ọ ga-anata ụgwọ ọrụ ya nʼuju, ọzọ, alaka ya ga-akpọnwụ
Even before his time will it be overfull, and his branches will not be green.
33 Ọ ga-adị ka osisi vaịnị nke mkpụrụ ya dapụsịrị na-achaghị acha, dịka osisi oliv nke akwụkwọ ya kpọnwụrụ akpọnwụ.
He will shake off like the vine his unripe grapes, and cast off like the olive his blossoms.
34 Nʼihi na ndị na-amaghị Chineke ga-adị ka nwanyị aga, ọkụ ga-erepịa ụlọ ikwu niile nke ndị hụrụ iri ngarị nʼanya.
For the assembly of hypocrites will remain desolate, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
35 Ha na-atụrụ ihe ọjọọ dịka ime, ma mụọkwa ajọọ omume; naanị aghụghọ ka akpanwa ha na-arụpụta.”
They conceive trouble, and bring forth wrong-doing, and their body prepareth deceit.
