< Jeremaya 36 >
1 Nʼafọ anọ nke ọchịchị Jehoiakim nwa Josaya bụ eze Juda, okwu Onyenwe anyị ndị a ruru Jeremaya ntị,
This message from the Lord came to Jeremiah in the fourth year of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:
2 “Were akwụkwọ detuo okwu ahụ niile m gwarala gị banyere Izrel, na Juda, na banyere ndị mba ọzọ dị iche iche, bụ okwu ndị ahụ m bidoro ịgwa gị site nʼoge ọchịchị Josaya ruo ugbu a.
Get a scroll and write down everything I've told you condemning Israel, Judah, and all the other nations, from the time I first spoke to you during the reign of Josiah right up till now.
3 Ma eleghị anya mgbe ndị Juda nụrụ ka e kwupụtara ihe banyere ihe ọjọọ ndị ahụ m zubere, nke na-aga ịbịakwasị ha, onye ọbụla nʼime ha nʼotu nʼotu ga-esite nʼụzọ ọjọọ ya tụgharịa. Mgbe ahụ, aga m agbaghara ha ajọ omume ha na mmehie ha.”
Maybe when the people of Judah hear about all the disasters I plan to bring down on them, everyone will stop their evil ways. Then I will forgive their guilt and sin.
4 Ya mere, Jeremaya kpọrọ Baruk nwa Neraya ka ọ bịakwute ya. Mgbe Jeremaya nọ na-akpọpụta okwu ahụ niile Onyenwe anyị gwara ya, Baruk nọkwa na-edepụta ha nʼakwụkwọ.
So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah to come, and while Jeremiah dictated, Baruch wrote down on a scroll everything that the Lord had told Jeremiah.
5 Emesịa, Jeremaya gwara Baruk okwu sị ya, “Ọnọdụ nke m nọ nʼime ya ugbu a agaghị ekwe ka m site nʼebe a pụọ jeruo nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị.
Then Jeremiah gave Baruch these instructions: “I'm a prisoner here so I can't go into the Lord's Temple.
6 Nʼihi ya, gaa nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị nʼụbọchị ibu ọnụ, nọdụ nʼebe ahụ gụpụtara ndị mmadụ okwu Onyenwe anyị ndị a ị dere nʼakwụkwọ dịka m kpọpụtara ha. Gụpụtara ya ndị Juda si obodo niile bịa nʼụlọnsọ ahụ.
So you have to go to the Lord's Temple on a day when people are fasting, and read to them the Lord's messages from the scroll I dictated to you. Read them to all the people of Judah who come in from their towns.
Maybe they will come and ask the Lord for forgiveness, and all of them will stop their evil ways, for the Lord is threatening terrible anger against them.”
8 Baruk nwa Neraya mere dịka Jeremaya onye amụma si gwa ya. Ọ gụpụtara okwu Onyenwe anyị, nke dị nʼakwụkwọ ahụ, nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị.
Baruch son of Neriah did exactly what Jeremiah the prophet had told him to do. He went and read the Lord's message from the scroll in the Temple.
This is how it happened. A fast to honor the Lord was declared involving all the people of Jerusalem and everyone who had come there from the towns of Judah. This was in the ninth month of the fifth year of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah.
10 Baruk nọ nʼọnụụlọ Gemaraya nwa Shefan, bụ ode akwụkwọ, gụpụtara ndị niile nọ nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị okwu Jeremaya, nke dị nʼakwụkwọ a dị nsọ nʼọnụ ụzọ ama ọhụrụ nke ụlọnsọ ahụ.
Baruch read from the scroll what Jeremiah had dictated so that everyone could hear. He read it from the room of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe. This was in the upper Temple courtyard at the New Gate entrance.
11 Mgbe Mikaya nwa Gemaraya nwa Shefan nụrụ okwu Onyenwe anyị nke e si nʼakwụkwọ ahụ gụpụta,
When Micaiah son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, heard all the Lord's messages read from the scroll,
12 o si nʼebe ahụ pụọ, gaa nʼụlọ ode akwụkwọ dị nʼụlọeze, ebe ndịisi niile zukọrọ. Ndị a bụ ndị zukọrọ nʼebe ahụ; Elishama, ode akwụkwọ, na Delaya nwa Shemaya, na Elnatan nwa Akboa, na Gemaraya nwa Shefan, na Zedekaya nwa Hananaya, na ndịisi ọchịchị ndị ọzọ.
he went down to the royal secretary's room in the king's palace, where all the officials had gathered. Elishama the secretary, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials were there.
13 Mgbe Mikaya gwara ha ihe ọ nụrụ Baruk si nʼakwụkwọ ahụ gụpụtara ndị mmadụ,
Micaiah gave them a report of everything he'd heard Baruch read from the scroll to the people.
The officials sent Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, to summon Baruch, telling him, “Bring the scroll that you read to the people, and come here.” So Baruch went to see them taking the scroll with him.
“Please sit down and read it to us,” they said. So Baruch read it to them.
16 Mgbe ha nụchasịrị okwu dị nʼakwụkwọ ahụ, ha lerịtara onwe ha anya nʼegwu, gwa Baruk okwu sị ya, “Anyị aghaghị ime ka okwu ndị a ruo eze ntị.”
After they'd heard everything, they were frightened and looked at each other. They said to Baruch, “We've got to tell the king about all this.”
17 Ha jụrụ Baruk sị ya, “Gwa anyị i si aṅaa detuo ihe ndị a niile? Ọ bụ Jeremaya kpọpụtaara gị ihe i dere?”
Then they asked Baruch, “Now tell us, how did you come to write all this? Did Jeremiah dictate it to you?”
18 Baruk zara sị ha, “E, ọ bụ ya kpọpụtara m okwu ndị a niile m deturu. E ji m inki dee ha nʼakwụkwọ.”
“Yes, he dictated it,” Baruch replied. “I wrote down in ink on the scroll everything he told me.”
19 Mgbe ahụ, ndịisi ahụ gwara Baruk okwu sị ya, “Ọsọ, gaa ka gị na Jeremaya zoo onwe unu. Unu ekwekwala ka onye ọbụla mata ebe unu zoro onwe unu.”
The officials told Baruch, “You and Jeremiah are going to have to hide. Don't tell anyone where you are.”
Then the officials went to see the king in the courtyard. They had kept the scroll safe in Elishama the secretary's room while they gave a full report to the king.
21 Eze ziri Jehudi ka ọ gaa weta akwụkwọ ahụ. Mgbe Jehudi wetara ya site nʼọnụụlọ Elishama, ode akwụkwọ, ọ gụrụ ya nʼihu eze, na nʼihu ndịisi ọchịchị ahụ niile guzo nʼakụkụ eze.
The king sent Jehudi to fetch the scroll. He went and got it from Elishama the secretary's room. Then Jehudi read it to the king and all the officials who were there standing next to him.
22 Nʼọnwa nke itoolu ahụ, mgbe eze nọ nʼụlọ oyi ya, ọkụ na-enwukwa nʼime ite ọkụ dị nʼihu ya.
It was the ninth month and the king was sitting in front of a fire in his winter quarters.
23 Mgbe ọbụla Jehudi gụsịrị ibe akwụkwọ atọ maọbụ anọ, eze na-anara ya akwụkwọ ndị ahụ were agụba ode akwụkwọ chakasịa ha, wụnye ha nʼọkụ. O megidere otu a tutu ruo mgbe ọ wụnyechara akwụkwọ ndị ahụ niile nʼọkụ.
Whenever Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, Jehoiakim would chop them off with a scribe's knife and toss them into the fire. Eventually the whole scroll was completely burned up.
24 Eze na ndị so ya nọdụ nʼoge a na-agụpụta akwụkwọ a atụghị egwu ọbụla; ha adọwakwaghị uwe ha igosi obi ọjọọ.
Despite hearing all these messages, the king and his attendants weren't frightened and didn't tear their clothes in remorse.
Even when Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah pleaded with the king not to burn the scroll, he refused to listen to them.
26 Kama eze nyere Jerameel otu nʼime ụmụ eze, na Seraya nwa Azriel, na Shelemaya nwa Abdeel iwu ijide Baruk ode akwụkwọ, na Jeremaya onye amụma, ma Onyenwe anyị zoro ha.
In fact the king ordered Jerahmeel, one of the princes, as well as Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to go and arrest Baruch and Jeremiah. But the Lord hid them.
27 Mgbe eze suresịrị akwụkwọ ahụ na okwu niile nke Baruk dere nʼime ya ọkụ, bụ okwu nke Jeremaya kpọpụtara site nʼọnụ ya, okwu Onyenwe anyị ruru Jeremaya ntị sị ya:
After the king burned the scroll Jeremiah had dictated to Baruch, a message from the Lord came to Jeremiah:
28 “Werekwa akwụkwọ ọzọ dee okwu ndị ahụ niile e dere nʼakwụkwọ nke mbụ ahụ, nke Jehoiakim eze Juda kpọrọ ọkụ.
Get another scroll and write everything out that was on the first scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah burned.
29 Ọzọkwa, gwa Jehoiakim eze Juda sị ya, ‘otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, Ị kpọrọ akwụkwọ ndị ahụ ọkụ, kwuo sị, “Gịnị mere i ji dee nʼime ya na eze Babilọn aghaghị ịbịa bibie ala a, gbuchapụ ndị niile nọ nʼime ya, ma mmadụ ma anụmanụ?”
Regarding Jehoiakim king of Judah announce that this is what the Lord says: You have burned the scroll and asked, “Why did you write that the king of Babylon is going to come and destroy this country and kill all its people and animals?”
30 Nʼihi ya, ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru banyere Jehoiakim eze Juda; Ọ gaghị amụta onye ga-anọ nʼocheeze Devid. Ọzọ, a ga-atụfu ozu ya nʼebe igirigi nke abalị ga-adakwasị ya, ebe okpomọkụ nke ehihie ga-erute ya.
So this is what the Lord says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He won't have anyone to succeed him as king, sitting on David's throne. His body will be thrown out to lie in the heat of the day and the cold of the night.
I'm going to punish him and his descendants and officials for their sins. I will bring down on them and on the people living in Jerusalem and Judah, all the disasters I warned them about but they refused to listen.
32 Ya mere, Jeremaya weere akwụkwọ ọzọ nye Baruk ode akwụkwọ, bụ nwa Neraya, dịka Jeremaya na-akpọpụta okwu, Baruk depụtakwara nʼakwụkwọ okwu ndị ahụ niile, nke Jehoiakim eze Juda surere nʼọkụ. A tụkwasịkwara nʼelu ha ọtụtụ okwu ndị ọzọ nke dịka ha.
Jeremiah got another scroll and gave it to Baruch. Jeremiah dictated everything that was in the scroll that Jehoiakim had burned in the fire and Barcuh wrote it down. Even more messages of a similar kind were added.
