1 Na mmalite oge ahụ, Jehoiakim nwa Josaya eze Juda bidoro ịchị ndị Juda, Onyenwe anyị mere ka okwu ya rute Jeremaya ntị.
In the beginning of the reign of king Sedekias, there came this word concerning Aelam.
2 Ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, “Guzo nʼogige ụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị. Nọdụ nʼebe ahụ gwa ndị niile si nʼobodo Juda bịa ịkpọ isiala nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị okwu. Gwa ha ihe ahụ niile m nyere gị nʼiwu. Mee ka ihe ndị ahụ niile m nyere gị nʼiwu rute ha ntị, na-afọdụghị otu.
FOR EGYPT, AGAINST THE POWER OF PHARAO NECHAO KING OF EGYPT, who was by the river Euphrates in Charmis, whom Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon struck in the fourth year of Joakim king of Juda.
3 Ma eleghị anya ha ga-anụ, si na mmehie ha chegharịa. Mgbe ahụ, mụ onwe m ga-eme ka ihe ọjọọ ahụ m na-ezube na ọ ga-abịakwasị ha ghara ịbịakwasị ha.
Take up arms and spears, and draw near to battle;
4 Gwa ha sị, ‘Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru: Ọ bụrụ na unu ajụ ige m ntị, jụkwa ịgbaso iwu m, nke m nyere unu.
and harness the horses: mount, you horsemen, and stand ready in your helmets; advance the spears, and put on your breastplates.
5 Ọ bụrụkwa na unu ajụ ige ntị nʼokwu ndị ohu m bụ ndị amụma ahụ m ziteere unu site nʼoge ruo nʼoge (ndị unu nọgidekwara jụ ige ntị),
Why do they fear, and turn back? even because their mighty men shall be slain: they have utterly fled, and being hemmed in they have not rallied, says the Lord.
6 mgbe ahụ, aga m eme ka ụlọnsọ a dịrị ka Shaịlo. Aga m emekwa ka obodo a bụrụ obodo a bụrụ ọnụ nʼetiti mba niile dị nʼụwa.’”
Let not the swift flee, and let not the mighty man escape to the north: the [forces] at Euphrates are become feeble, and they have fallen.
7 Ndị nchụaja, na ndị amụma, na ndị mmadụ ndị ọzọ nọ nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị nụrụ mgbe Jeremaya kwuru okwu ndị a niile.
Who is this [that] shall come up as a river, and as rivers roll [their] waves?
8 Mgbe Jeremaya kwusiri okwu ndị ahụ Onyenwe anyị sị ya kwuo, ndị nchụaja ahụ, na ndị mmadụ ndị ọzọ, na ndị amụma ahụ niile, jidere ya sị ya, “Ị ghaghị ịnwụ!
The waters of Egypt shall come up like a river: and he said, I will go up, and will cover the earth, and will destroy the dwellers in it.
9 Gịnị mere i ji buo amụma na ụlọnsọ a ga-adị ka Shaịlo? Gịnịkwa mere i ji akwado na obodo a ga-aghọ mkpọmkpọ ebe, nke onye ọbụla na-agaghị ebikwa nʼime ya?” Nʼoge ahụ, ndị mmadụ ahụ niile gbara Jeremaya gburugburu nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị.
Mount you the horses, prepare the chariots; go forth, you warriors of the Ethiopians, and Libyans armed with shields; and mount, you Lydians, bend the bow.
10 Mgbe ndịisi ọchịchị Juda nụrụ ihe ndị a na-eme, ha sitere nʼụlọeze bilie pụọ, jee nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị. Mgbe ha ruru nʼebe ahụ, ha weere ọnọdụ nʼọnụ ụzọ ama ọhụrụ nke dị nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị.
And that day [shall be] to the Lord our God a day of vengeance, to take vengeance on his enemies: and the sword of the Lord shall devour, and be glutted, and be drunken with their blood: for the Lord [has] a sacrifice from the land of the north at the river Euphrates.
11 Mgbe ahụ, ndị nchụaja na ndị amụma gwara ndịisi ọchịchị ahụ okwu sị ha: “O kwesiri ka a maa nwoke a ikpe ọnwụ, nʼihi na o buru amụma megide obodo a. Unu onwe unu ji ntị unu nụrụ ihe o kwuru.”
Go up to Galaad, and take balm for the virgin daughter of Egypt: in vain have you multiplied your medicines; there is no help in you.
12 Mgbe ahụ, Jeremaya gwara ndịisi ọchịchị ahụ na mmadụ niile nọ nʼebe ahụ okwu sị ha, “Ọ bụ Onyenwe anyị zitere m ibu amụma megide ụlọnsọ a na obodo a. Okwu niile m kwuru, nke unu nụrụ, bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị ziri m ikwu.
The nations have heard your voice, and the land has been filled with your cry: for the warriors have fainted fighting one against another, [and] both are fallen together.
13 Ma ọ bụrụ na unu emee ka ụzọ unu na omume unu zie ezi, ọ bụrụ na unu erube isi nye Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu, mgbe ahụ, Onyenwe anyị ga-eme ka ihe ọjọọ ahụ o zubere na ọ ga-abịakwasị unu ghara ịbịakwasị unu.
THE WORDS WHICH THE LORD SPOKE by Jeremias, concerning the coming of the king of Babylon to strike the land of Egypt.
14 Ma nʼebe mụ onwe m nọ, lee adị m unu nʼaka, jirinụ m mee ihe ọbụla ziri unu ezi nʼanya nke dịkwa mma nʼanya unu.
Proclaim [it] at Magdol, and declare [it] at Memphis: say you, Stand up, and prepare; for the sword has devoured your yew tree.
15 Ma ghọtakwanụ nke ọma, na ọ bụrụ na unu emee ka m nwụọ, unu ga-eweta ikpe ọmụma nke igbu onye aka ya dị ọcha nʼisi unu. Ikpe ọmụma ga-adịkwara obodo a na ndị bi nʼime ya, nʼihi na eziokwu, Onyenwe anyị zitere m ikwupụta na ntị unu okwu ndị a niile.”
Therefore has Apis fled from you? your choice calf has not remained; for the Lord has utterly weakened him.
16 Mgbe ahụ, ndịisi ọchịchị na ndị mmadụ ahụ niile gwara ndị nchụaja na ndị amụma okwu sị ha, “O kwesighị ka a maa nwoke a ikpe ọnwụ nʼihi na ọ gwara anyị okwu site nʼaha Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị.”
And your multitude has fainted and fallen; and each one said to his neighbor, Let us arise, and return into our country to our people, from the Grecian sword.
17 Ụfọdụ nʼime ndị okenye nọ nʼebe ahụ pụtara nʼihu ọha mmadụ ahụ gwa ha okwu sị,
Call you the name of Pharao Nechao king of Egypt, Saon esbeie moed.
18 “Maịka onye Moreshet buru amụma nʼoge Hezekaya, bụ eze Juda. Ọ gwara ndị Juda niile, sị ha, ‘Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwuru: “‘A ga-akọgharị Zayọn dịka ala ubi. Jerusalem ga-aghọ ebe e kpokọtara nkume na ngwongwo ụlọ dakpọrọ adakpọ, ugwu nke ụlọnsọ ukwu ahụ ga-aghọ ebe dị elu nke oke ọhịa tochiri.’
[As] I live, says the Lord God, he shall come as Itabyrion among the mountains, and as Carmel that is on the sea.
19 “Hezekaya bụ eze Juda, na ndị Juda niile, ha mere ya ka ọ nwụọ? Hezekaya ọ tụghị egwu Onyenwe anyị, rịọọ amara na ihuọma ya? Ọ bụ na Onyenwe anyị atụgharịghị uche, mee ka ihe ọjọọ o kwuru megide ya gharakwa imezu? Ma anyị na-achọ iwetara onwe anyị ihe ọjọọ nke oke mbibi.”
O daughter of Egypt dwelling [at home], prepare you stuff for removing: for Memphis shall be utterly desolate, and shall be called Woe, because there are no inhabitants in it.
20 (Ụraya nwa Shemaya, onye si Kiriat Jearim pụta, bụkwa onye ọzọ buru amụma site nʼaha Onyenwe anyị. Amụma o buru megide obodo a na ala a bụkwa ụdị amụma nke Jeremaya na-ebu.
Egypt is a fair heifer, [but] destruction from the north is come upon her.
21 Mgbe Jehoiakim bụ eze na ndịisi ọchịchị nụrụ amụma Ụraya na-ebu, ha gbalịrị ijide ya gbuo ya, ma Ụraya nụrụ ihe ha zubere ime. Ya mere, Ụraya nụrụ ya gbapụ ọsọ gbalaa Ijipt nʼihi egwu.
Also her hired [soldiers] in the midst of her are as fatted calves fed in her; for they also have turned, and fled with one accord: they stood not, for the day of destruction was come upon them, and the time of their retribution.
22 Ma eze bụ Jehoiakim, zipụrụ Elnatan nwa Akboa na ụfọdụ ndị ikom ọzọ ka ha gaa Ijipt jide Ụraya.
Their voice is as [that] of a hissing serpent, for they go upon the sand; they shall come upon Egypt with axes, as men that cut wood.
23 Ha si nʼIjipt kpọlata Ụraya, duru ya gaa nʼihu Jehoiakim bụ eze, onye nyere iwu ka e jiri mma agha gbuo ya. A tụnyere ozu ya nʼebe a na-eli ndị mmadụ efu nʼala ahụ.)
They shall cut down her forest, says the Lord, for [their number] can’t at all be conjectured, for it exceeds the locust in multitude, and they are innumerable.
24 Ma otu ọ dị, Ahikam nwa Shefan, dịnyeere Jeremaya, nʼihi ya a raraghị Jeremaya nye nʼaka ndị mmadụ ka ha gbuo ya.
The daughter of Egypt is confounded; she is delivered into the hands of a people from the north.
Behold, I [will] avenge Ammon her son upon Pharao, and upon them that trust in him.
But fear not you, my servant Jacob, neither be you alarmed, Israel: for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be at ease, and sleep, and there shall be no one to trouble him.
Fear not you, my servant Jacob, says the Lord; for I am with you: she [that was] without fear and in luxury, has been delivered up: for I will make a full end of every nation among whom I have thrust you forth; but I will not cause you to fail: yet will I chastise you in the way of judgment, and will not hold you entirely guiltless.
