< Jemis 4 >
1 Gịnị bụ ihe na-ebute ọgụ na esemokwu nʼetiti unu. Ebee ka ha siri bịa? Ọ bụghị ọchịchọ ọjọọ unu nwere nʼime onwe unu?
Where do the conflicts and quarrels that go on among you come from? Do they not come from your passions which are always making war among your bodily members?
You continually crave and do not obtain; you are killing and coveting and cannot acquire; you are fighting and at war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
3 Unu na-arịọ ma unu adịghị anata, nʼihi na unu na-arịọ nʼebumnobi ọjọọ. Unu na-arịọ ka unu mefuo ya nʼihe ụtọ nke ụwa.
You continue to ask and do not receive, because you are asking with a wrong purpose, in order to spend it upon your pleasures.
4 Ndị na-ekwesighị ntụkwasị obi! Ọ bụ na unu amaghị na unu na ụwa bụrụ enyi, unu ga-esi otu a bụrụ ndị iro Chineke? Onye ọbụla nke chọrọ ịbụ enyi nke ụwa, na-eme onwe ya onye iro nke Chineke.
You adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity to God? Whoever, then, desires to be a friend of the world, makes himself and enemy of God.
5 Unu chere na ihe e dere nʼakwụkwọ nsọ na-ekwu nʼefu mgbe ọ na-asị, “Chineke na-ekwosi ekworo ike nʼihi Mmụọ Nsọ ya nke o mere ka o biri nʼime anyị.”
Or do you suppose that it is in vain that the Scripture says, "The spirit which has its home in us yearns over us unto jealousy?"
6 Ma ọ na-enye anyị amara karịa. Ya mere, Akwụkwọ nsọ ji sị, “Chineke na-eguzo imegide ndị na-ebuli onwe ha elu, ma ọ na-enye ndị dị umeala nʼobi amara.”
But he gives more and more grace. therefore it is said, God ever resists the proud; but to the humble he gives grace continually.
7 Ya mere, nyenụ Chineke onwe unu. Guzonụ megide ekwensu, ọ ga-esi nʼebe unu nọ gbapụ.
So then ever be subject to God, Ever resist the devil and he will flee from you.
8 Bịakwutenụ Chineke nso, ya onwe ya ga-abịakwutekwa unu nso. Kwọọnụ aka unu, unu ndị mmehie, meekwanụ ka obi unu dị ọcha, unu ndị obi abụọ.
Draw near to God And he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, And purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Ruonụ ụjụ, tienụ aka nʼobi nʼọnọdụ mwute, kwaakwanụ akwa. Ka ọchị unu ghọọ ihu mgbarụ, ka iru ụjụ werekwa ọnọdụ ịṅụrị ọṅụ.
Lament and mourn, and weep aloud! Let your laughter be turned into mourning, And your joy into gloom!
10 Wedanụ onwe unu ala nʼihu Onyenwe anyị ọ ga-ebulikwa unu elu.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, And he will raise you up.
Do not be talking against each other, brothers. He who is talking against a brother and condemning his brothers is talking against the Law and condemning the Law. But if you are condemning the Law, you are not a doer of the Law, but a judge.
12 Ọ bụ naanị otu onye o nye iwu. Ọ bụkwa naanị otu onye ikpe dị. Ọ bụ naanị ya nwere ike ịzọpụta mmadụ. O nwekwara ike ịla onye ọbụla nʼiyi. Ma gị, onye ka ị na-eche na ị bụ iji na-ekpe nwanna gị ikpe?
But One is your Lawgiver and Judge - he who is able to save and to destroy. But you, who are you, to be condemning your neighbor?
13 Ugbu a geenụ ntị unu bụ ndị na-asị, “Taa maọbụ echi, anyị ga-aga ebe dị otu a, maọbụ obodo dị otu a, ịzụ ahịa na ire ahịa, anyị ga-anọkwa ebe ahụ otu afọ kpaa ego.”
Go to now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we shall journey to such a city and spend a year there, and trade and make money,"
14 Olee otu unu si mara ihe ga-eme echi? Gịnị ka unu na-eche na ndụ unu bụ? Mmadụ dị ka anwụrụ ọkụ nke a na-ahụ anya nwa oge nta, nke ikuku na-emesịa bufuo.
when all the time you do not know what will happen on the morrow. For what is your life? You are but a mist, appearing for a brief time, and then vanishing.
15 Kama ihe unu ga-ekwu bụ nke a, “Ọ bụrụ na Onyenwe anyị ekwe, anyị ga-adị ndụ, mee nke a maọbụ nke ọzọ.”
You ought instead to say, "If the Lord wills it, we shall live and do this or that."
16 Ma ihe unu na-eme bụ ịnya isi na ịkpa nganga. Ụdị ịnya isi a bụ ihe ọjọọ.
But now you are glorying in these insolent boastings of yours; all such glorying is evil.
17 Ya mere, mmadụ ọbụla maara ihe bụ ezi ihe ma jụ ime ya na-emehie.
So to him who knows how to do right and does not do it, to him it is sin.
