< Jemis 3 >
1 Ụmụnna m, ka ọtụtụ nʼime unu hapụ ịgbalị ịbụ ndị ozizi, nʼihi na unu maara na anyị bụ ndị ozizi ka a ga-ekpe ikpe nʼọnọdụ sikarịrị ike.
MY brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
2 Nʼihi na anyị niile na-asọ ngọngọ site nʼọtụtụ ụzọ. Ma onye ọbụla nke na-adịghị emehie site nʼikwuhie ọnụ bụ onye tozuru oke na onye pụrụ ijide anụ ahụ ya niile aka.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3 Ọ bụrụ na anyị e tinye mkpụmkpụ igwe e ji ekechi ọnụ ịnyịnya ibu nʼọnụ ya, ka o rubere anyị isi, anyị na-eduru ya gaa ebe anyị chọrọ.
Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Otu a kwa, ọ bụladị ụgbọ mmiri buru ibu nke ikuku dị ike na-ebugharị nʼosimiri, ka onye na-anya ụgbọ mmiri pụrụ ime ka ọ gaa ebe ọ chọrọ site nʼịtụgharịa ụmara ntakịrị e ji anya ụgbọ.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Otu a ka ọ dịkwa ire anyị. Ọ bụ akụkụ anụ ahụ anyị dị nta, ma ọ na-anya isi banyere ọtụtụ ihe. Tulee otu oke ọhịa si dị ukwuu, bụ nke icheku ọkụ dịkarịsịrị nta na-eme ka o nwuru ọkụ.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 Ire anyị bụ ọkụ. E debere ire nʼetiti akụkụ anụ ahụ ndị ọzọ dịka ụwa ajọ omume. Ọ na-emerụ ahụ niile, na-amụnye ọkụ nʼusoro ndụ mmadụ. Ya onwe ya bụkwa ihe ọkụ ala mmụọ na-amụnye ọkụ. (Geenna )
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (Geenna )
7 Mmadụ enweela ike zụọ, na-agbalịkwa ịzụ anụmanụ dị iche iche, na nnụnụ, na anụ na-akpụ akpụ, na anụ bi na mmiri;
For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 ma mmadụ ọbụla adịghị nke nwere ike ịzụ ire. Ọ bụ ihe dị oke njọ na-adịghị ekwe nchịkọta, ma jupụtakwa na nsi na-ebute ọnwụ.
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Ụmụnna m, nke a abụghị ihe ziri ezi.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Ọ bụ ihe pụrụ ime na mmiri dị mma ịṅụ aṅụ na mmiri nnu ga-esite nʼotu isi iyi ahụ na-asọpụta?
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Ụmụnna m, osisi fiig ọ pụrụ ịmị oliv, ka osisi grepu ọ pụrụ ịmịpụta fiig? Nʼụzọ dị otu a, anyị makwaara na mmiri nnu apụghịkwa ịsọpụta mmiri dị mma ọṅụṅụ.
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 Ma ọ bụrụ na obi unu ejupụta nʼihe ilu na ekworo na ịchọ naanị ihe nke onwe unu, mgbe ahụ, unu ekwesighị ịnya isi sị otu a na-agọnarị eziokwu.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 Ụdị amamihe dị otu ahụ esiteghị nʼeluigwe bịa. Ọ bụ amamihe nke ụwa. Ọ bụghị nke mmụọ nsọ. Ọ bụ nke mmụọ ọjọọ.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 Ma ndị ahụ bụ ndị na-eme udo bụ ndị na-agha mkpụrụ udo. Ha ga-aghọta mkpụrụ ezi omume.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
