1 Nke a bụ amụma megide Damaskọs, isi obodo Siria. “Lee, Damaskọs agaghị adịkwa! Ọ gaghị abụkwa obodo ọzọ, kama ọ ga-aghọ mkpọmkpọ ebe, nke zedara ezeda.
The doom of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is deprived of being a city, and it shall become decaying ruins.
2 Ọ dịkwaghị onye ga-ebi nʼime nʼobodo niile nke Aroea, ọ ga-adịrị igwe atụrụ na ehi dị iche iche, ndị ga-amakpu, ọ dịkwaghị onye ga-eme ka egwu tụọ ha nʼebe ahụ.
Forsaken are the cities of 'Aro'er: they shall be [given up] to flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
3 Ebe e wusiri ike nke Ifrem agaghị adịkwa, ya na ike alaeze nke sị Damaskọs, ndị fọdụrụ nke Aram ga-adị ka ebube nke ndị Izrel,” otu a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwubiri ya.
And there shall cease the fortress from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: like the glory of the children of Israel shall they be, saith the Lord of hosts.
4 “Nʼụbọchị ahụ, a ga-eme ka nsọpụrụ Jekọb nwere bụrụ ihe e wedara nʼala. Abụba dịkwa ya nʼahụ ga-atalata.
And it shall come to pass on that day, that the glory of Jacob shall vanish, and the fatness of his flesh shall become lean.
5 Ọ ga-adị ka ubi e si nʼime ya wee ihe mkpụrụ site nʼọka guzoro ọtọ, na-achịkọta mkpụrụ nʼogwe aka ha dịka mgbe mmadụ na-atụtụkọta mkpụrụ site nʼigbo ọka nʼime Ndagwurugwu Refaim.
And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the standing-corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as when one gleaneth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
6 Ma ọ bụ ole na ole nʼime mkpụrụ ahụ ga-afọdụkwa, dịka mgbe a kuchasịrị osisi oliv, hapụ mkpụrụ abụọ maọbụ atọ, nke dị nʼalaka kachasị elu, maọbụ mkpụrụ anọ maọbụ ise a hapụrụ nʼọnụ ọnụ alaka nke ahụ mịrị mkpụrụ.” Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị, Chineke Izrel kwubiri ya.
And there shall be left on it gleaning-fruit, as one shaketh an olive-tree, two or three berries on the top of the uppermost bough, four or five on the outmost branches of a fruitful tree, saith the Lord the God of Israel.
7 Nʼụbọchị ahụ, ha ga-echeta onye kere ha, nweekwa nsọpụrụ nʼebe Onye nsọ nke Izrel nọ.
On that day shall a man turn his regard up to his Maker, and his eyes shall look toward the Holy One of Israel.
8 Nʼụbọchị ahụ, ha agaghị elekwasịkwa chi ha dị iche iche anya ka ha nyere ha aka. Ha agakwaghị efe ihe ndị ahụ ha ji aka ha mee. Ha agakwaghị asọpụrụ chi nwanyị ha bụ Ashera, maọbụ ebe ịchụ aja ụda na-esi isi ụtọ nke mkpịsịaka kpụrụ.
And he shall not turn his regard to the altars, the work of his hands; and he shall not look at what his fingers have made, both the groves and the sun-images.
9 Nʼụbọchị ahụ, obodo ha niile e wusiri ike, nke ha hapụrụ nʼihi ndị Izrel, ga-adị ka ebe ahapụrụ ahapụ nye oke ọhịa na ahịhịa nke ọhịa. Ebe niile ga-abụ nnọọ mkpọmkpọ ebe.
On that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken ruin in a forest, and on a mountain-peak, which they left because of the children of Israel: and the land shall be desolate.
10 Nʼihi na ị chezọla Chineke onye na-azọpụta gị. I chetaghị Nkume ahụ, nke bụ ebe mgbaba gị. Ya mere, ọ masịkwa gị kụọ ihe ọkụkụ dị iche iche nke dị ụtọ, maọbụ manye alaka osisi vaịnị ị si nʼala ọzọ bubata,
Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and the rock of thy strength thou hast not remembered; therefore wouldst thou plant luxuriant plantings, and wouldst set out the shoots of the stranger therein.
11 ọ bụrụkwa na i mee ka ha too nʼụbọchị ahụ ị kụnyere ha nʼala, maọbụ na ha mara ifuru nʼụtụtụ ụbọchị ahụ ị kụnyere ha nʼala, ị gaghị aghọta mkpụrụ ọ mịrị, nʼihi na ọ bụ naanị ọrịa na ihe mgbu ka ha ga-ewetara gị.
[Already] on the day that thou plantedst thou causedst to grow, and in the morning thou madest thy seed to blossom; but now fleeth the harvest on the day of disease and of incurable pain.
12 Ahaa, lee ụzụ nke ọtụtụ mmadụ na-eme, nke yiri mkpọtụ oke osimiri. Ọ bụ mkpọtụ nke mba dị iche iche; ha na-eme mkpọtụ dị ka nnugharị nke ọtụtụ osimiri.
Woe to the raging of many people, who rage like the raging of the seas; and to the noise of nations, that make a noise like the roar of mighty waters!
The nations will make a noise like the roaring of many waters; but He will rebuke it, and it shall flee afar off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and as thistle-down before the tempest.
14 Nʼanyasị, ha na-eme ka oke egwu dịrị, tutu ruo ụtụtụ, ha adịghịkwa. Nke a bụ ihe nketa dịịrị ndị ahụ na-apụnara anyị ihe anyị nwere nʼike. E, ọ bụ ihe nza ruru ndị ahụ ji ike na-anakọrọ anyị ihe anyị nwere.
At eveningtide, behold, there is trouble; before yet it is morning it is no more. This is the portion of our spoilers, and the lot of those that plunder us.
