Let us fear therefore, lest haply, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.
For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us, even as also they: but the word of hearing did not profit them, because they were not united by faith with them that heard.
For we which have believed do enter into that rest; even as he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 Nʼihi nʼotu ebe, o nweela ihe o kwuru banyere ụbọchị nke asaa site nʼokwu ndị a: “Chineke zuru ike site nʼọrụ ya niile, nʼụbọchị nke asaa.”
For he hath said somewhere of the seventh [day] on this wise, And God rested on the seventh day from all his works;
5 Ma nʼebe a kwa, e kwuru, “Ha agaghị abanye nʼebe izuike m ma ọlị.”
and in this [place] again, They shall not enter into my rest.
6 Ebe ọ bụ na ohere dịịrị ụfọdụ mmadụ ịbanye nʼime ya, ma ndị ahụ buru ụzọ nata oziọma ahụ abanyeghị nʼihi nnupu isi.
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some should enter thereinto, and they to whom the good tidings were before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,
7 O wepụtara ụbọchị ọzọ nke ọ kpọrọ Taa, o sitere nʼọnụ Devid kwuo okwu ahụ e kwurula ihe banyere nʼoge gara aga sị, “Taa, ọ bụrụ na unu anụ olu ya, unu emela ka obi unu sie ike.”
he again defineth a certain day, saying in David, after so long a time, Today, as it hath been before said, Today if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.
8 Nʼihi na a sị na Joshua nyere ha ezumike, ọ gaghị ekwu banyere ụbọchị ọzọ.
For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.
9 Otu ụbọchị izuike fọdụrụ nye ndị nke Chineke.
There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God.
For he that is entered into his rest hath himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
11 Ya mere, ka anyị mee ka ike anyị ha, ka anyị banye nʼebe izuike ahụ, ka ọ hapụ ịdịkwa onye ọbụla nke na-agaghị aba nʼihi ịṅomi ekweghị ekwe ha.
Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.
For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Ọ dịghị ihe ọbụla nʼime ihe niile e kere eke pụrụ izo onwe ya site nʼebe Chineke nọ. Ihe niile ghere oghe, ma gbarakwa ọtọ nʼihu anya ya. Ọ bụ nʼihu ya ka anyị niile ga-aza ajụjụ banyere ndụ anyị niile.
And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 Ebe ọ bụ na anyị nwere onyeisi nchụaja dị ukwuu, onye nke gaferela nʼeluigwe, Jisọs Ọkpara Chineke, ka anyị jidesienụ okwukwe anyị ike.
Having then a great high priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15 Nʼihi na anyị nwere onyeisi nchụaja nke nwere ike ịghọta adịghị ike anyị. A nwara ya ọnwụnwa nʼụzọ niile dị ka a na-anwa anyị taa. Ma, o meghị mmehie nʼụzọ ọbụla mgbe a nwara ya.
For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.
16 Ya mere, ka anyị bịaruo ocheeze amara ahụ nso na-atụghị egwu, ka anyị si otu a nata ebere, ma chọtakwa amara nke ga-enyere anyị aka nʼoge mkpa.
Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help [us] in time of need.
