1 Mgbe nke a gasịrị, nʼoge ọchịchị Ataksekses bụ eze Peshịa. Ezra bụ nwa Seraya nwa Azaraya, Azaraya nwa Hilkaya,
Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
2 bụ nwa Shalum, nwa Zadọk, nwa Ahitub,
the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,
3 nwa Amaraya, nwa Azaraya, nwa Meraiot,
the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,
4 Meraiot nwa Zerahaya; Zerahaya nwa Uzi, Uzi nwa Buki;
the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5 Buki nwa Abishua, Abishua nwa Finehaz; Finehaz nwa Elieza, Elieza nwa Erọn onyeisi nchụaja.
the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest—
6 Ezra a si Babilọn bịarute. Ọ bụ onye ọka nʼihe gbasara iwu ahụ Onyenwe anyị, Chineke Izrel nyere Mosis. Eze nyere ya ihe niile nke ọ rịọrọ, nʼihi na aka Onyenwe anyị Chineke ya dịkwasịrị nʼahụ ya.
this Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to Yahweh his God’s hand on him.
7 Ụfọdụ ndị Izrel, ndị nchụaja, ndị Livayị, ndị ọbụ abụ, ndị nche na ndị na-eje ozi nʼụlọnsọ, soro ya jee Jerusalem nʼafọ asaa nke ọchịchị eze Ataksekses.
Some of the children of Israel, including some of the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
8 Ezra bịaruru Jerusalem nʼọnwa nke ise, nke afọ asaa nke ọchịchị eze.
He came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
9 Ọ hapụrụ Babilọn nʼabalị mbụ nke ọnwa mbụ, rute Jerusalem nʼabalị mbụ nke ọnwa ise nʼihi na Chineke nọnyeere ya.
For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylon; and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him.
10 Nke a mere nʼihi na Ezra kpebiri nʼobi ya ịmụ, na idebe iwu Onyenwe anyị, na ịbụ onye ozizi nke okwu Chineke nye ụmụ Izrel.
For Ezra had set his heart to seek Yahweh’s law, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.
11 Nke a bụ ndepụta akwụkwọ ozi eze, bụ Ataksekses degaara Ezra onye nchụaja, na onye ozizi, na onye ọka nʼihe gbasara iwu na ụkpụrụ nke Onyenwe anyị nyere Izrel:
Now this is the copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of Yahweh’s commandments, and of his statutes to Israel:
12 Ataksekses, eze na-achị ndị eze ọzọ, na-edegara Ezra akwụkwọ, bụ onye nchụaja, bụrụkwa onye nkuzi okwu Chineke nke eluigwe. Ndeewo!
Artaxerxes, king of kings, To Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the perfect God of heaven. Now
13 Ugbu a, ana m enye iwu ka onye Izrel ọbụla bi nʼalaeze m, ma ndị nchụaja, na ndị Livayị, ndị wepụtara onwe ha ị soro gị gaa Jerusalem, ha nwere ike ịga.
I make a decree that all those of the people of Israel and their priests and the Levites in my realm, who intend of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with you.
14 Eze na mmadụ asaa ndị na-adụ ya ọdụ na-eziga gị Juda na Jerusalem ka ị gaa leba anya nʼiwu Chineke nke dị gị nʼaka.
Because you are sent by the king and his seven counselors to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in your hand,
15 Ọzọkwa, ịga e were onyinye ọlaedo na ọlaọcha ndị a eze na ndị ndụmọdụ ya ji afọ ofufu nye Chineke nke Izrel, onye ebe obibi ya dị na Jerusalem.
and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,
16 Tinyere ọlaedo na ọlaọcha nke i nwere ike ịnata nʼala ahụ niile nʼakụkụ niile nke Babilọn, tinyekwara onyinye ihuọma si nʼaka ndị mmadụ, na ndị nchụaja niile, maka ụlọnsọ ukwu Chineke ha dị na Jerusalem.
and all the silver and gold that you will find in all the province of Babylon, with the free will offering of the people and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem.
17 Ị ga-eji ego niile ndị a zụọ oke ehi, na ebule, na atụrụ, na onyinye mkpụrụ ọka, na onyinye ihe ọṅụṅụ, e ji achụ aja nʼebe ịchụ aja nke ụlọnsọ Chineke dị na Jerusalem.
Therefore you shall with all diligence buy with this money bulls, rams, and lambs with their meal offerings and their drink offerings, and shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
18 Ọ bụrụ na ego amapụta nʼime ya, gị na ụmụnne gị ga-eji ya mee ihe unu maara bụ uche Chineke unu.
Whatever seems good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do that according to the will of your God.
19 Ngwongwo niile e bunyere gị maka ije ozi nʼụlọnsọ Chineke, buru ha buruo nʼihu Chineke nke Jerusalem.
The vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem.
20 Ma ihe ndị ọzọ nke fọdụrụ nʼihi ụlọnsọ Chineke gị, nke kwesiri na i mere, ị nwere ike site nʼụlọakụ eze mee ha.
Whatever more will be needed for the house of your God, which you may have occasion to give, give it out of the king’s treasure house.
21 Mụ, bụ Ataksekses, na-eziga iwu a nye ndị na-elekọta ego nʼọdịda anyanwụ osimiri Yufretis sị ha, ihe ọbụla Ezra, onye nchụaja, na onye nkuzi okwu Chineke nke eluigwe chọrọ site nʼaka unu, unu nye ya.
I, even I, Artaxerxes the king, make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, requires of you, it shall be done with all diligence,
22 Ọ bụladị ruo ọlaọcha dị otu narị talenti, ya na narị akpa ọka wiiti ise, na narị galọọnụ mmanya vaịnị isii, na narị efa nke mmanụ oliv na nnu nʼọtụtụ ọbụla, dịka ọ chọrọ ya.
up to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred cors of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
23 Ihe ọbụla ọzọ, nke Chineke nke eluigwe chọrọ, ka e mee ha nʼụzọ kwesiri nye maka owuwu ụlọnsọ Chineke nke eluigwe. Nʼihi gịnị ka iwe Chineke ga-eji dakwasị eze na ụmụ ya ndị ikom?
Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
24 Ana m enyekwa iwu na ndị nchụaja niile, ndị Livayị niile, ndị ọbụ abụ niile, ndị nche niile, ndị ozi ụlọnsọ niile, na ndị ọzọ niile na-arụrụ Chineke ọrụ, agaghị atụ ụtụ ọbụla.
Also we inform you that it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll on any of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants, or laborers of this house of God.
25 “Ugbu a, Ezra, ị ga-eji amamihe Chineke gị nyere gị họpụta ndị ikpe, na ndịisi, ndị ga-achị obodo niile dị nʼọdịda anyanwụ nke osimiri Yufretis. Ọ bụrụ na ha amazighị iwu Chineke nke ọma, ị ga-akụziri ha.
You, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, who all know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn’t know them.
26 Ahụhụ ga-adịrị onye ọbụla jụrụ idebe iwu Chineke, na iwu eze, ga-abụ ọnwụ, maọbụ nchụpụ site nʼala ya gaa mba ọzọ, maọbụ ịnakọrọ ya ihe niile o nwere, maọbụ ịtụba ya nʼụlọ mkpọrọ.”
Whoever will not do the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it is to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
27 Otuto dịrị Onyenwe anyị Chineke nna nna anyị ha, onye mere ka eze kpebie ime ka ụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị dị na Jerusalem dị mma ile anya.
Blessed be Yahweh, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem;
28 Keleekwa Chineke onye nyere m ihuọma nʼihu ndị ndụmọdụ ya, na nʼihu ụmụ eze, bụ ndịisi ọchịchị dị ike. Nʼihi na aka Onyenwe anyị Chineke m nọnyeere m. Eji m obi ike chịkọta ndịisi site nʼIzrel ka ha soro m gaa.
and has extended loving kindness to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. I was strengthened according to Yahweh my God’s hand on me, and I gathered together chief men out of Israel to go up with me.
