1 Okwu onye ozizi, nwa Devid, onye bụ eze na Jerusalem.

2 Ihe efu, ihe niile bụ ihe efu ka onye ozizi na-ekwu. Ihe na-enweghị isi ka ihe niile bụ. Ihe niile bụ nnọọ ihe efu.
Futility of futilities he said Teacher futility of futilities everything [is] futility.
3 Olee uru mmadụ na-enweta site na ndọgbu niile ọ na-adọgbu onwe ya nʼọrụ nʼokpuru anyanwụ?
What? profit [belongs] to humankind in all toil his that he toils under the sun.
4 Otu ọgbọ laa, ọgbọ ọzọ abịa, ma ụwa na-adịgide ruo ebighị ebi.
A generation [is] going and a generation [is] coming and the earth for ever [is] continuing.
5 Anyanwụ na-awa, na-adakwa, ma mee ngwangwa laghachi ebe o si awapụta.
And it rises the sun and it goes the sun and to place its [is] panting [is] rising it there.
6 Ifufe na-efe gaa na ndịda; feekwa gburugburu gaa nʼugwu, ọ na-efegharị gburugburu ebe niile; na-efe na-enweghịkwa nsọtụ.
[it is] going To [the] south and [it is] circling to [the] north circling around - circling around [is] going the wind and on circuits its [is] returning the wind.
7 Mmiri dị nʼiyi niile na-asọbanye nʼoke osimiri ma oke osimiri ejughị eju. Emesịakwa, mmiri ndị a na-alọghachi nʼiyi ndị a, malitekwa ịsọkwa na-aga nʼosimiri.
All the rivers [are] going to the sea and the sea not it [is] full to [the] place where the rivers [are] going there they [are] returning to go.
8 Ihe niile nọ na-adọgbu onwe ha nʼọrụ; ọnụ apụghị ịkọ ụdị ike ọgwụgwụ dịnụ. Otu ọbụla anyị si lee anya, afọ adịghị eju anya anyị. Afọ adịghịkwa eju ntị anyị ịnụ ihe, na ige ntị.
All things [are] wearisome not he is able anyone to speak [them] not it is satisfied an eye by seeing and not it is filled an ear from hearing.
9 Ihe ọbụla nke dịrịla na mbụ ga-adịkwa ọzọ. Ihe ndị mmadụ mere nʼoge gara aga ka a ga-emekwa ọzọ. Ọ dịkwaghị ihe ọhụrụ ọbụla dị nʼokpuru anyanwụ.
Whatever it has been it [is] which will be and whatever (which has been done *L(abh)*) it [is] which will be done and there not [is] any new [thing] under the sun.
10 Ọ dị ihe enwere ike ikwu sị, “Lee, ihe a bụ ihe ọhụrụ”? Ọ bụ ihe dịịrị nʼoge gara aga, nʼoge ndị garalarị tupu oge anyị.
[is] there? Anything that anyone will say see this [is] new it already it has been to ancient times which it was from to before us.
11 Anaghị echeta ndị mgbe ochie, otu aka ahụ kwa, ọgbọ na-abịa abịa ndị ga-eso ha agakwaghị echeta ha.
There not [is] remembrance of the former [things] and also of the subsequent [things] that they will be not it will be of them remembrance with who will be to the later [time].
12 Mụ onwe m bụ onye nkuzi, bụrịị eze Izrel nʼime Jerusalem.
I Teacher I was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13 Ekpebiri m, were onwe m nye, iji amamihe nnyochapụta ihe m nwere ike ịmata banyere ihe niile a na-eme nʼime ụwa. Olee ụdị ibu arọ bụ nke a, nke Chineke bokwasịrị ụmụ mmadụ?
And I gave heart my to study and to discover by wisdom on all that it has been done under the heavens it - [is] a task of evil [which] he has given God to [the] children of humankind to be busy with it.
14 Enyochaala m ihe niile a na-eme nʼụwa chọpụta na ha enweghị isi. Ọ dị ka mmadụ ịchụgharị ifufe.
I have seen all the works that have been done under the sun and there! everything [is] futility and striving of wind.
15 Ihe gbagọrọ agbagọ, apụghị ime ya ka ọ dizie. Ihe na-ezughị ezu, enweghị ike ịgụta ha ọnụ.
[something] bent Not it is able to become straight and something missing not it is able to be numbered.
16 Echere m nʼime obi m sị, “Lee anya! Aghọọla m onye ukwu, bụrụ onye maara ihe karịa ndị eze niile chịrịla na Jerusalem. Enweela m amamihe nʼebe ọ dị ukwu, babigakwa ụba oke nʼihe ọmụma.”
I have spoken I with heart my saying I here! I have made great and I have increased wisdom above every [one] who he was before me over Jerusalem and heart my it has seen much wisdom and knowledge.
17 Nʼihi ya, agbalịsiri m ike ịmụta ihe dị iche nʼetiti ihe ọmụma, na ịyị ara na nzuzu. Ma ihe m chọpụtara bụ na ọ baghị uru. Ọ dị ka itufu oge ịchọ ụzọ ijide ifufe.
And I gave! heart my to know wisdom and to know madness and folly I knew that also this it [is] a striving of wind.
18 Nʼihi na mgbe amamihe na-aba ụba, mgbe ahụ ka iwe na ọnụma na-ejupụta, oke ihe ọmụma na-ewetakwa oke ihe mgbu.
For [is] in abundance of wisdom abundance of frustration so someone may increase knowledge he will increase pain.
