< Diuteronomi 20 >
1 Mgbe i pụrụ ibuso ndị iro gị agha, ọ bụrụ na i lee anya hụ na ndị iro gị nwere ọtụtụ ịnyịnya, ụgbọ agha na ndị agha dị ukwuu nʼọnụọgụgụ karịa gị, unu atụla egwu, nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị, onye ahụ mere ka i si nʼala Ijipt pụta nʼudo, nọnyeere gị.
When thou shalt go out to wage war against thine enemy, and shalt see the horses and chariots of a people more in number than thou, thou shalt not be afraid of them, —for, Yahweh thy God, is with thee, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
2 Tupu agha ebido, otu onye nchụaja ga-eguzo nʼihu ndị agha Izrel gwa ha okwu sị,
And it shall be, when ye are coming nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people;
3 “Geenụ ntị, unu ndị Izrel, taa, unu na-apụ ibuso ndị iro unu agha. Unu atụla egwu. Unu atụla ụjọ. Ka obi unu gharakwa ịda mba.
and shall say unto them, —Hear, O Israel, ye are coming near to-day, unto battle against your enemies, —let not your heart faint do not fear nor start nor quake because of them.
4 Nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu ga-eso unu gaa, ọ ga-alụrụ unu ọgụ imegide ndị iro unu, ọ ga-enyekwa unu mmeri.”
For Yahweh your God, is he that is going with you, —to fight for you against your enemies to save you.
5 Mgbe ahụ, ndị ọchịagha ga-esi otu a gwa ndị agha Izrel okwu sị ha, “O nwere onye ọbụla nʼime unu wuru ụlọ ọhụrụ ọ na-edobeghị nsọ nye Onyenwe anyị? Ka onye dị otu a laghachi nʼụlọ ya. Ka onye ahụ ghara ịnwụ nʼagha hapụ ụlọ ya, ka nwoke ọzọ doo ya nsọ nye Onyenwe anyị!
Then shall the officers speak unto the people saying, Who is the man that hath built a new house and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return unto his house, —lest he die in the battle, and, another man dedicate it.
And who is the man that hath planted a vineyard and hath not thrown it open? let him go and return unto his house, —lest he die in the battle, and another man, throw it open.
7 Ọ dị nwoke nwere nwaagbọghọ o kwere nkwa na ọ ga-alụ? Ya laa, gaa lụọ nwanyị! Nʼihi na ọ bụrụ na ọ nwụọ nʼagha, nwoke ọzọ ga-alụ ya.”
And who is the man that hath betrothed a wife and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, —lest he die in the battle, and, another man, take her.
Then shall the officers further speak unto the people, and say—Who is the man that is fearful and faint-hearted? let him go and return unto his house, —lest his brethren’s heart melt as well as his heart.
9 Mgbe ndịisi agha gwachara ndị agha ha okwu ndị a, ha ga-ahọpụta ndịisi ga-achịkọta usuu ndị agha.
And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people, then shall they appoint captains of hosts at the head of the people.
10 Mgbe ị bịaruru obodo ọbụla nso ibuso ya agha, ị ga-ebu ụzọ kpọọ ndị bi nʼime ya oku, maka ime udo.
When thou shalt come nigh unto a city, to fight against it, —then shalt thou proclaim unto it—peace,
11 Ọ bụrụ na ha anabata ime udo, megheere gị ọnụ ụzọ ama ha, ndị niile bi nʼime obodo ahụ ga-abụrụ gị ndị ọrụ na-agbakwara gị odibo.
and it shall be if peace, be the answer it giveth thee, and it open unto thee, then shall it be, that, all the people that are found therein, shall become thy tributaries and shall serve thee.
12 Ma ọ bụrụ na ha ekweghị ime udo, lụso gị agha, mgbe ahụ, ndị agha gị ga-agba ya gburugburu.
But if it will not make peace with thee, but will make war with thee, then shalt thou lay siege to it;
13 Mgbe Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị nyefere gị ya nʼaka, were mma agha gbuo nwoke ọbụla nọ nʼime ya.
and Yahweh thy God will deliver it into thy hand, —and thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword;
14 Ma ụmụ nwanyị niile na ụmụntakịrị niile, anụ ụlọ niile na ihe nkwata niile nke ndị obodo ahụ ka ị ga-edebere onwe gị. Ị ga-ewerekwa ihe nkwata nke Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị nyere site nʼaka ndị iro gị mee ihe dị gị mma.
but the women and the little ones and the cattle and all that shall be in the city—all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take as thy prey, —so shalt thou eat the spoil of thine enemies, whom Yahweh thy God hath delivered unto thee.
15 Iwu ndị a metụtara naanị mmeso ị ga-emeso obodo ndị tere anya. O metụtaghị obodo ndị na-adịghị nʼime mba ndị a dị nso.
Thus, shalt thou do unto all the cities that are very far away from thee, —which are not of the cities of those nations.
16 Ma otu ọ dị, nʼobodo niile ndị ahụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke na-enye gị dịka ihe nketa, o nweghị ihe ọbụla na-eku ume ị ga-ahapụ ndụ. Laa ihe niile na-eku ume nʼiyi.
But of the cities of these peoples which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee as an inheritance, shalt thou not save alive, any breathing thing.
17 Ị ghaghị ịla obodo ndị a nʼiyi: obodo ndị Het na nke ndị Amọrait, nke ndị Kenan na nke ndị Periz, nke ndị Hiv na nke ndị Jebus, dịka Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị nyere gị nʼiwu.
But thou shalt devote them to destruction—the Hittites and the Amorites the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, —as Yahweh thy God hath commanded thee:
18 Ma ọ bụghị otu a, ha ga-akụziri gị ime ihe ndị ahụ niile rụrụ arụ ha na-eme mgbe ha na-efe chi ha dị iche iche, mee ka i mehie megide Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị.
lest they teach you to do, according to all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods, —and so ye sin against Yahweh your God.
19 Mgbe ị nọchibidoro obodo ọbụla ogologo oge, na-ebu agha megide ya maka iwere ya, ebibila osisi na-amị mkpụrụ dị nʼime ya site nʼiji anyụike gbutuo ha. Nʼihi na i nwere ike rie mkpụrụ osisi ha, egbutula ha. Osisi dị nʼọhịa ha ọ bụ ndị mmadụ, na ị ga-anọchibido ha?
When thou shalt besiege a city for many days to fight against it, to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by wielding against them an axe, when of them, thou mightest eat, them, there-fore shalt thou not cut down, —for, Is the tree of the field, a man, that it should enter, because of thee into the siege?
20 Naanị osisi na-adịghị amị mkpụrụ ka ị ga-egbutu, nke a na-adịghị eri mkpụrụ ya eri. Jiri ha meere onwe gị ngwa ọgụ, dịka ubibi, na nkwasa, na ihe unu ji etitu mgbidi obodo ahụ.
Nevertheless, the tree of which thou knowest that it is, not a tree yielding food, the same, mayest thou destroy, and cut down, —and so build up a siege-work against the city which is making war with thee, until thou hast subdued it.
