< Diuteronomi 19 >

1 Mgbe Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị bibiri mba ndị ahụ nwe ala ahụ ọ na-enye gị, mgbe ị chụpụrụ ha bichie nʼobodo ha nakwa ụlọ ha niile,
When Yahweh your God cuts off the nations, those whose land Yahweh your God is giving you, and when you come after them and live in their cities and houses,
2 mgbe ahụ, kewapụta obodo atọ nʼala ahụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị na-enye gị inweta, doo ha iche.
you must select three cities for yourself in the middle of your land that Yahweh your God is giving you to possess.
3 Kewaa ala ahụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị na-enye gị dịka ihe nketa ụzọ atọ ka otu obodo mgbaba dịrị nʼotu akụkụ. Wuzie ụzọ e si aga nʼobodo ndị a ka ọ dịrị onye na-agba ọsọ mfe ịgbaje nʼebe ahụ.
You must build a road and divide the borders of your land into three parts, the land that Yahweh your God is causing you to inherit, so that everyone who kills another person may flee there.
4 Nke a bụ iwu banyere onye ọbụla gburu mmadụ gbaba nʼebe ahụ maka izere ndụ. Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ esite na-amaghị ama gbuo onye agbataobi ya, bụ onye ọ na-akpọghị asị nʼoge gara aga, ọ ga-agbaba nʼobodo ahụ nʼihi ize ndụ ya.
This is the law for the one who kills another and who flees there to live—anyone who kills his neighbor unintentionally, and did not previously hate him.
5 Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ na ibe ya agaa nʼọhịa ịwa nkụ ma isi anyụike ya esite nʼosisi ya dapụ dagbuo nwoke ahụ so ya gaa ịwa nkụ, nwoke ahụ na-awa nkụ ga-agbala nʼime otu obodo ndị a ichebe ndụ ya.
For example, if a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to cut wood, and his chops with the ax to cut down a tree, and the ax head slips off of the handle and strikes his neighbor and kills him—then that man must flee to one of these cities and save his life.
6 Ma ọ bụghị otu a, onye ahụ na-agba ụgwọ ọchụ ga-esite nʼọnụma juru ya obi chụọ nwoke ahụ ọsọ, chụkwute ya, gbuo ya ma ọ bụrụ na obodo mgbaba ahụ adịrị nʼebe dị anya, ọ bụ ezie na nwoke ahụ abụghị onye kwesiri ọnwụ, ebe ọ bụ na o siteghị nʼekworo gbuo onye o gburu.
Otherwise the avenger of blood might go after the one who took a life, and in the heat of his anger overtake him, if the distance is too great, strike him and kill him, even though that man did not deserve to die, since he had not hated his neighbor in the past.
7 Ọ bụ nke a mere m ji nye unu iwu ka unu wepụtara onwe unu obodo mgbaba atọ.
Therefore I command you to select three cities for yourself.
8 Ọ bụrụ na Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị emee ka oke ala gị saa mbara dịka ọ ṅụụrụ nna nna gị ha nʼiyi na ọ ga-eme, ọ bụrụkwa na o nye gị ala niile dịka o kwere na nkwa,
If Yahweh your God enlarges your borders, as he has sworn to your ancestors to do, and gives you all the land that he promised to give to your ancestors;
9 nʼihi na i leziri anya gbasoo iwu ndị a m nyere gị taa ịhụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị nʼanya, na ije ije dịka ụzọ ya si dị, mgbe ahụ, i nwere ike họpụta obodo atọ ọzọ, nke ga-abụ obodo izere ndụ.
if you keep all these commandments to do them, which I am commanding you today—commandments to love Yahweh your God and to always walk in his ways, then you must add three more cities for yourself, besides these three.
10 Nʼụzọ dị otu a, ị ga-enwe ike gbochie ọnwụ ndị aka ha dị ọcha. Ọbara onye na-adịghị ihe o mere agaghị adịkwa gị nʼisi, nʼala ahụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị na-enye gị dịka ihe nketa.
Do this so that innocent blood is not shed in the midst of the land that Yahweh your God is giving you for as an inheritance, so that no bloodguilt may be on you.
11 Ma ọ bụrụ na nwoke ọbụla echere onye ọ kpọrọ asị nʼụzọ, gbuo ya, mesịa gbara ọsọ gaa nʼime otu obodo ndị a,
But if anyone hates his neighbor, lies in wait for him, rises up against him, and mortally wounds him so that he dies, and if he then flees into one of these cities—
then the elders of his city must send and bring him back from there, and turn him over into the hand of the responsible relative, so that he may die.
13 Emerela ya ebere. Ị ghaghị ikpochapụ site nʼIzrel ikpe ọmụma nke so iwufu ọbara ndị aka ha dị ọcha, ka ihe gaara gị nke ọma.
Your eye must not pity him; instead, you must eradicate the bloodguilt from Israel, that it may go well with you.
14 Mgbe ị batara nʼala ahụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị na-aga inye gị dịka ihe nketa, ehigharịla oke ala onye agbataobi gị nʼala ahụ enyere gị inweta.
You must not remove your neighbor's landmark that they set in place a long time ago, in your inheritance that you will inherit, in the land that Yahweh your God is giving you to possess.
15 Amala onye ọbụla ikpe mmehie nʼihi ama otu onye gbara. E kwesiri inwe ndị akaebe abụọ, maọbụ atọ tupu a maa mmadụ ikpe.
One sole witness must not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any matter that he sins; at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, must any matter be confirmed.
16 Ọ bụrụ na onye ọbụla achọọ imegide onye ọzọ site nʼịgba ama ụgha,
Suppose that an unrighteous witness rises up against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing.
17 a ga-eduru mmadụ abụọ ahụ bịa nʼihu Onyenwe anyị na nʼihu ndị nchụaja na ndị ikpe na-arụ ọrụ nʼoge ahụ.
Then both men, the ones between whom the controversy exists, must stand before Yahweh, before the priests and the judges who serve in those days.
18 Ndị ikpe ga-enyocha okwu ahụ nke ọma. Ọ bụrụ na a chọpụta na onye akaebe ahụ gbara ama ụgha,
The judges must make diligent inquiries; see, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother,
19 ọ ga-ata ahụhụ ahụ nwoke ahụ ọ gbagidere akaebe gaara ata. Nʼụzọ dị otu a, ị ga-ekpochapụ ndị ọjọọ site nʼetiti gị.
then must you do to him, as he had wished to do to his brother; and you will remove the evil from among you.
20 Ndị niile nụrụ ya ga-atụ egwu, ha agaghị emekwa ihe ọjọọ dị otu ahụ ọzọ.
Then those who remain will hear and fear, and will from then on commit no longer any such evil among you.
21 Emekwala ebere ọbụla. Ndụ laara ndụ, anya laara anya, eze laara eze, aka laara aka, ụkwụ laara ụkwụ.
Your eyes must not pity; life will pay for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
