< Diuteronomi 1 >
1 Ndị a bụ okwu ahụ Mosis gwara Izrel niile mgbe ha nọ nʼọwụwa anyanwụ Jọdan, nʼọzara nʼAraba, ebe chere ihu nʼobodo Suf, nʼetiti Paran na Tofel na Leban, na Hazerọt, na Dizahab.
These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah opposite Suf, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
2 Site nʼugwu Horeb ruo Kadesh Banea, bụ njem abalị iri na otu ma e soro ụzọ gawara ugwu Sia.
It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.
3 Ọ bụ nʼabalị mbụ nke ọnwa iri na otu, nke afọ iri anọ ka Mosis gwara ụmụ Izrel ihe niile Onyenwe anyị nyere ya nʼiwu banyere ha.
In the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the LORD had given him in commandment to them,
4 Nke mere mgbe ọ lụgbuchara Saịhọn, eze ndị Amọrait, onye na-achị na Heshbọn, lụgbukwaa Ọg, eze ndị Bashan na Edrei, onye na-achị nʼAshtarọt.
after he had struck Sihon the king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan who lived in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.
5 Nʼọwụwa anyanwụ Jọdan, nʼala ndị Moab ka Mosis nọ kọwaara ụmụ Izrel iwu ndị a sị ha,
Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying,
6 Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị gwara anyị nʼugwu Horeb sị, “Unu anọọla ọtụtụ oge nʼugwu a.
“The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying, ‘You have lived long enough at this mountain.
7 Ugbu a bilienụ ije, baa nʼala ugwu ugwu ndị Amọrait. Gaakwanụ nʼala niile ndị agbataobi ha bụ Araba, nʼugwu niile na nʼebe dị ala ala na Negeb, nʼọnụ mmiri nke oke osimiri, garuokwanụ ala ndị Kenan na nke ndị Lebanọn, gagidekwanụ ruo nʼosimiri ukwu Yufretis.
Turn, and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the places near there: in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the South, by the seashore, in the land of the Canaanites, and in Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.
8 Lee, enyela m unu ala ahụ niile! Baanụ nʼime ya, bichiekwanụ ala ahụ Onyenwe anyị ṅụrụ iyi na ọ ga-enye nna nna unu bụ Ebraham, Aịzik, Jekọb na ụmụ ụmụ ha niile ndị ga-esote ha.”
Behold, I have set the land before you. Go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob—to give to them and to their offspring after them.’”
9 Nʼoge ahụ, agwara m unu ụmụ Izrel okwu sị, “Unu bụụrụ m oke ibu arọ, apụghịkwa m ibu unu naanị m.
I spoke to you at that time, saying, “I am not able to bear you myself alone.
10 Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu emeela ka unu mụbaa dịka kpakpando nke eluigwe.
The LORD your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are today as the stars of the sky for multitude.
11 Ka Onyenwe anyị Chineke nna nna unu ha meekwa ka unu mụbaa nʼọnụọgụgụ, puku kwụrụ puku, ya gọziekwa unu dịka o kwere na nkwa.
May the LORD, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are and bless you, as he has promised you!
12 Ma olee otu naanị m ga-esi buo ibu unu, doziekwa ise okwu unu na nsogbu unu niile?
How can I myself alone bear your problems, your burdens, and your strife?
13 Họpụtanụ ụfọdụ ndị ikom nwe amamihe, nghọta, na ndị a na-akwanyere ụgwụ, site nʼebo niile unu nʼotu nʼotu, aga m emekwa ha ndịisi unu.”
Take wise men of understanding who are respected amongst your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.”
14 Unu zara sị m, “Ihe ahụ i zubere ime dị mma.”
You answered me, and said, “The thing which you have spoken is good to do.”
15 Ya mere, a kpọọrọ m ndịisi nʼebo dị iche iche, ndị ikom maara ihe, na ndị a na-asọpụrụ, mee ka ha bụrụ ndịisi ọchịchị unu, ụfọdụ ha na-elekọta puku mmadụ, ụfọdụ narị mmadụ, ndị ọzọ na-elekọta iri mmadụ ise, ndị ọzọ mmadụ iri, ka ha bụrụ ndị ndu ebo dị iche iche.
So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and respected men, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, captains of hundreds, captains of fifties, captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes.
16 Adọrọ m ndị ikpe unu a aka na ntị nʼoge ahụ sị ha, “Nụrụnụ ikpe niile metụtara esemokwu dị nʼetiti ụmụnna unu, ma kpeenụ ikpe ọbụla na-eleghị mmadụ anya nʼihu ma ikpe ahụ ọ dị nʼetiti ụmụnna unu ndị Izrel, maọbụ nʼetiti ndị Izrel na ndị ọbịa.
I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.
17 Kpeenụ ikpe ziri ezi nye onye ukwu na onye nta. Elekwala ndị unu na-ekpe ikpe anya nʼihu, nʼihi na unu na-ekpe ikpe unu nʼọnọdụ Chineke.” Enyekwara m ha iwu sị ha wetaranụ m ikpe niile siri unu ike ka m leba ha anya.
You shall not show partiality in judgement; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgement is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”
18 Nʼoge ahụ, agwara m unu ihe niile unu na-aghaghị ime.
I commanded you at that time all the things which you should do.
19 Emesịa, dịka iwu Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị nyere si dị, anyị hapụrụ ugwu Horeb, chee ihu gawa nʼala ugwu ugwu ndị Amọrait. Ụzọ anyị si gafee ọzara ukwu ahụ dị egwu nke unu ji anya unu hụ tutu anyị erute Kadesh Banea.
We travelled from Horeb and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw, by the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.
20 Mgbe ahụ agwara m unu okwu sị, “Unu erutela nʼala ugwu ugwu ndị Amọrait, ala ahụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị na-enye anyị.
I said to you, “You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which the LORD our God gives to us.
21 Lee, Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu enyela unu ala ahụ. Gaanụ nweta ya ka ọ bụrụ nke unu dịka Onyenwe anyị Chineke nna nna unu gwara unu sị, Unu atụla egwu, ka obi unu gharakwa ịda mba.”
Behold, the LORD your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the LORD the God of your fathers has spoken to you. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”
You came near to me, everyone of you, and said, “Let’s send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”
23 Ntụpụta unu juru m afọ, nʼihi ya, esitere m nʼetiti unu họpụta mmadụ iri na abụọ, otu onye site nʼebo ọbụla.
The thing pleased me well. I took twelve of your men, one man for every tribe.
24 Ndị a pụrụ, gbagoo ala ugwu ugwu ahụ tutu bịaruo na Ndagwurugwu Eshkọl. Ha legharịrị anya nʼala ahụ.
They turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.
25 Ha ghọtara ụfọdụ nʼime mkpụrụ osisi mịrị nʼala ahụ, bulatara anyị. Ha wetakwaara anyị ozi, sị, “Ala ahụ Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị na-aga inye anyị dị mma.”
They took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, “It is a good land which the LORD our God gives to us.”
26 Ma unu jụrụ ịga nʼala ahụ, si otu a nupu isi megide iwu Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu nyere.
Yet you wouldn’t go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God.
27 Unu nọ nʼụlọ ikwu unu tamuo ntamu na-asị, “Nʼezie Onyenwe anyị ahụghị anyị nʼanya. Lee ka o si site nʼala Ijipt dupụta anyị were anyị nyefee nʼaka ndị Amọrait ka ha laa anyị nʼiyi!
You murmured in your tents, and said, “Because the LORD hated us, he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us.
28 Ebee ka anyị nwere ike ịga ugbu a? Ụmụnna anyị gara nyochaa ala ahụ emenyela anyị egwu. Ha sịrị, ‘Na ndị bi nʼala ahụ toro ogologo karịa anyị bụrụkwa ndị dị ike. Ha sịkwara na mgbidi e ji gbaa obodo ha gburugburu topuru ruo nʼeluigwe! Anyị hụkwara ụmụ Anak nʼebe ahụ.’”
Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart melt, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to the sky. Moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there!’”
29 Ma agwara m unu sị, “Ka ụjọ ghara ịtụ unu, unu atụla ndị ahụ egwu.
Then I said to you, “Don’t be terrified. Don’t be afraid of them.
30 Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu, onye na-aga nʼihu unu, ga-alụrụ unu ọgụ, dịka o si lụọra unu ọgụ nʼihu anya unu, nʼala Ijipt,
The LORD your God, who goes before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,
31 nakwa nʼime ọzara, ebe unu nọ hụ otu Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu si bulie unu elu dịka nna si ebuli nwa ya elu, nʼụzọ niile unu gbasoro tutu unu erute ebe a.”
and in the wilderness where you have seen how that the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.”
32 Ma agbanyeghị nke a, unu ekwenyeghị na Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu,
Yet in this thing you didn’t believe the LORD your God,
33 bụ onye gara nʼihu unu nʼije unu niile, ịchọpụtara unu ebe unu ga-ama ụlọ ikwu unu, onye jikwa ọkụ duo unu nʼabalị, jiri igwe ojii duo unu nʼehihie, iji zi unu ụzọ unu ga-agbaso.
who went before you on the way, to seek out a place for you to pitch your tents in: in fire by night, to show you by what way you should go, and in the cloud by day.
34 Ma otu o si dị, mgbe Onyenwe anyị nụrụ ntamu unu, iwe dị ukwuu were ya, nʼihi ntamu unu, ọ ṅụrụ iyi sị,
The LORD heard the voice of your words and was angry, and swore, saying,
35 “O nweghị otu onye nʼime ọgbọ ọjọọ a ga-anọ ndụ hụ ala ọma ahụ m ṅụrụ iyi inye nna nna unu,
“Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,
except Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He shall see it. I will give the land that he has trodden on to him and to his children, because he has wholly followed the LORD.”
37 Ọ bụkwa nʼihi unu ka Onyenwe anyị ji weso m iwe, na-asị, “Gị onwe gị kwa, ị gaghị aba nʼebe ahụ!
Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, “You also shall not go in there.
Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
Moreover your little ones, whom you said would be captured or killed, your children, who today have no knowledge of good or evil, shall go in there. I will give it to them, and they shall possess it.
40 Ma unu onwe unu, bilienụ, chigharịa gawa nʼime ọzara. Cheenụ ihu unu nʼOsimiri Uhie.”
But as for you, turn, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”
41 Mgbe ahụ, unu kwupụtara mmehie unu sị, “Anyị emehiela megide Onyenwe anyị. Anyị ga-agbago nʼala ahụ gaa lụọ ọgụ, dịka Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị nyere anyị nʼiwu.” Ya mere, onye ọbụla nʼime unu yikwasịrị ihe agha ya na-eche na ọ dị mfe ịgbago nʼobodo ndị ahụ dị nʼugwu.
Then you answered and said to me, “We have sinned against the LORD. We will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us.” Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country.
42 Ma Onyenwe anyị sịrị m, “Gwa ha, ‘Unu arịgokwala, gaa buo agha, nʼihi na agaghị m anọnyere unu. Ndị iro unu ga-emerikwa unu.’”
The LORD said to me, “Tell them, ‘Don’t go up and don’t fight; for I am not amongst you, lest you be struck before your enemies.’”
43 Ya mere, agwara m unu, ma unu aṅaghị ntị. Unu nupuru isi nʼiwu Onyenwe anyị, jiri nganga juru unu obi bilie, rigoo nʼobodo ahụ dị nʼugwu.
So I spoke to you, and you didn’t listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country.
44 Ndị Amọrị bụ ndị bi nʼugwu ahụ pụtara, ha chụsasịrị unu dịka aṅụ si eme, tidaa unu nʼala site na Sia ruo Homa.
The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you and chased you as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah.
45 Emesịa, unu lọghachiri bịa kwaa akwa nʼihu Onyenwe anyị, ma o geghị ntị nye olu akwa unu, ọ ṅakwaghị unu ntị.
You returned and wept before the LORD, but the LORD didn’t listen to your voice, nor turn his ear to you.
46 Nʼihi ya, unu nọrọ ọtụtụ oge na Kadesh.
So you stayed in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you remained.
