< Daniel 9 >
1 Nʼafọ mbụ, nke Daraiọs nwa Ahasuerọs (onye agbụrụ Midia), onye e mere eze nke alaeze ndị Kaldịa,
In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans,

in the first year of his reign, I Daniel understood by the books that the number of the years, whereof the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah the prophet, for the accomplishment of the desolations of Jerusalem, was seventy years.
3 Nʼihi nke a, echere m Onyenwe anyị Chineke ihu, rịọ ya arịrịọ, site nʼekpere na arịrịọ amara, nʼibu ọnụ, na iyikwa akwa mkpe na ntụ.
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes;
4 Ekpere m ekpere nye Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke m, ma kwupụta sị, “Onyenwe anyị, onye dị ukwuu, dị oke egwu. Onye na-edebe ọgbụgba ndụ nke ịhụnanya nke ndị hụrụ ya nʼanya na-edebekwa iwu ya niile.
and I prayed unto Jehovah my God, and made my confession, and said, Alas Lord! the great and terrible God, keeping covenant and loving-kindness with them that love him, and that keep his commandments:
5 Ma anyị emehiela meekwa ihe nʼadịghị mma megide gị. Anyị emeela ajọ omume, anyị enupula isi megide gị, gbakụtakwa iwu gị niile azụ.
we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from thy commandments and from thine ordinances.
6 Anyị e geghịkwa ndị ozi gị bụ ndị amụma ntị, bụ ndị gwara ndị eze anyị, na ndị ọchịchị anyị, na nna anyị ha, ma mmadụ niile bi nʼala anyị okwu nʼaha gị.
And we have not hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 “Onyenwe anyị, ị bụ onye ezi omume, ma nʼụbọchị taa anyị bụ ndị ihere dịrị, ndị Juda, ndị Jerusalem na ndị Izrel niile, ndị nọ nso ma ndị nọ nʼebe dị anya ebe ị chụgara ha nʼihi ekwesighị ntụkwasị obi anyị nye gị.
Thine, O Lord, is the righteousness, but unto us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, in all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their unfaithfulness in which they have been unfaithful against thee.
8 Onyenwe anyị, ihere emegbuola anyị. Ihere dịrị ndị eze anyị, dịkwara ndịisi anyị na ndị nna anyị, nʼihi na anyị emeela mmehie megide gị.
O Lord, unto us is confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
9 Ma Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị ka obi ebere na mgbaghara niile dịrị, nʼihi na anyị enupurula gị isi.
With the Lord our God are mercies and pardons, for we have rebelled against him;
10 Anyị erubeghị isi nye Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị, maọbụ debe iwu ahụ o nyere anyị site nʼaka ndị ohu ha bụ ndị amụma.
and we have not hearkened unto the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us through his servants the prophets.
11 Ndị Izrel niile enupula isi nʼiwu gị, wezuga onwe ha, jụ ige gị ntị. “Ya mere, ọbụbụ ọnụ ahụ niile e dere nʼiwu Mosis, odibo nke Chineke adakwasịla anyị, nʼihi na anyị emehiela megide gị.
And all Israel have transgressed thy law, even turning aside so as not to listen unto thy voice. And the curse hath been poured out upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God: for we have sinned against him.
12 O meela ka okwu ya guzosie ike, bụ nke o kwuru megide anyị na ndị ndu anyị site nʼiwetara anyị oke mbibi a. Nke bụ na o nwebeghị mgbe ọbụla e merela ụdị ihe emere na Jerusalem nʼokpuru eluigwe.
And he hath performed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil; so that there hath not been done under the whole heaven as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13 Ọ bụ dịka e si dee ya nʼiwu Mosis, ka mbibi a niile bịakwasịrị anyị, ma anyị achọbeghị ihuọma Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị, na ichegharị site na mmehie anyị chee uche banyere eziokwu gị.
As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us; yet we besought not Jehovah our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.
14 Onyenwe anyị kpachara anya mee ka nsogbu a bịakwasị anyị. Nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị, Chineke anyị, bụ onye ezi omume nʼihe niile ọ na-eme, ma anyị jụrụ irubere ya isi.
And Jehovah hath watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for Jehovah our God is righteous in all his works which he hath done; and we have not hearkened unto his voice.
15 “Ma ugbu a, Onyenwe anyị Chineke, onye ji aka dị ike kpọpụta ndị nke ya nʼala Ijipt, i meere onwe gị aha nke na-adịgide ruo taa. Anyị mere mmehie, ma mejọọkwa.
— And now, O Lord our God, who broughtest thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a strong hand, and hast made thee a name, as it is this day, — we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
16 Onyenwe anyị, dịka ezi omume gị si dị, wezuga iwe gị na oke iwe gị nʼebe Jerusalem nọ, bụ obodo gị, na ugwu nsọ gị. Mmehie anyị na njehie nna anyị ha emeela ka Jerusalem na ndị gị bụrụ ihe ịkwa emo nye ndị gbara anyị gburugburu.
Lord, according to all thy righteousnesses, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain; for because of our sins, and because of the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people [are become] a reproach to all round about us.
And now, our God, hearken to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
18 Chineke m, tọọ ntị gị nʼala nụrụ arịrịọ m. Meghee anya gị abụọ ka ị hụrụ ọnọdụ mbibi nke obodo a na-akpọ aha gị nọ. Anyị anaghị arịọ ka i nyere anyị aka nʼihi na anyị bụ ndị ezi omume, kama anyị na-arịọ nʼihi na ebere gị dị ukwuu.
Incline thine ear, O my God, and hear; open thine eyes and behold our desolations, and the city that is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee because of our righteousnesses, but because of thy manifold mercies.
19 Onyenwe anyị nụrụ! Onyenwe anyị, gbaghara anyị! Onyenwe anyị biko, gee ntị ma zaa anyị. Nʼihi aha gị, O Chineke m, anọkwala ọdụ, nʼihi obodo gị, na ndị nke gị bụ aha gị ka a na-akpọ ha.”
Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, hearken and do! defer not, for thine own sake, O my God! for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
20 Mgbe m nọ na-ekwu okwu na-ekpe ekpere, na-ekwupụta mmehie m na mmehie ndị m Izrel, na-arịọkwa amara nʼihu Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke m maka ugwu dị nsọ nke Chineke m,
And whilst I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God;
21 ebe m ka nọ na-ekpere, Gebrel, nwoke ahụ m hụrụ nʼọhụ na mbụ, feere ọsịịsọ bịakwute m nʼoge a na-achụ aja nke uhuruchi.
whilst I was yet speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, flying swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
22 Ọ bịara sị m, “Daniel, a bịara m ugbu a inye gị uche na nghọta.
And he informed [me], and talked with me, and said, Daniel, I am now come forth to make thee skilful of understanding.
23 Na mbido oge ị malitere ịrịọ arịrịọ, ka okwu ọsịsa pụtara. Abịara m ịgwa gị ya, nʼihi na ị bụ onye a na-akwanyere ugwu nke ukwuu. Ya mere, tụgharịa uche nʼokwu a, ghọtakwa ọhụ a.
At the beginning of thy supplications the word went forth, and I am come to declare [it]; for thou art one greatly beloved. Therefore consider the word, and have understanding in the vision:
24 “Iri izu ụka asaa, ka e dere nʼiwu nye ndị gị na obodo nsọ gị iji kwụsị njehie, ime ka mmehie kwụsị, na ịchụ aja maka ikpuchi ajọ omume na iweta ezi omume nke ga-adị ruo mgbe ebighị ebi, na ịkachi ọhụ na amụma ahụ akara, nakwa ite Ebe ahụ Kachasị Nsọ mmanụ.
Seventy weeks are apportioned out upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make expiation for iniquity, and to bring in the righteousness of the ages, and to seal the vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.
25 “Ma mara, werekwa uche ghọta nke a: Site nʼoge e nyere iwu ka e wugharịa Jerusalem tutu ruo mgbe Onye ahụ e tere mmanụ, onyendu ahụ ga-abịa, ga-abụ izu ụka asaa, na izu ụka iri isii na abụọ, a ga-ewughachi ya, na okporoụzọ ya, na olulu mmiri ya, maọbụ nʼime oge nsogbu.
Know therefore and understand: From the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto Messiah, the Prince, are seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. The street and the moat shall be built again, even in troublous times.
26 Mgbe izu ụka iri isii na abụọ gasịrị, Onye ahụ e tere mmanụ ka a ga-egbu, ma o nweghị ihe ọ ga-enwe. Usuu agha nke onye ọchịchị ga-abịa bibie obodo na ụlọnsọ. Oge ikpeazụ ga-abịa dịka idee mmiri; agha ga-adịgide ruo nʼoge ọgwụgwụ, e kpebiela na ịla nʼiyi ga-adị.
And after the sixty-two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, and shall have nothing; and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with an overflow, and unto the end, war, — the desolations determined.
27 Ya na ọtụtụ ndị mmadụ ga-enwe ọgbụgba ndụ nʼotu ‘izu ụka,’ ọ bụkwa nʼọkara izu ụka ahụ, ka ọ ga-eme ka ịchụ aja na inye onyinye kwụsị. Ọ ga-emekwa ihe arụ dị egwu nʼime ụlọnsọ ahụ, ruo mgbe a ga-awụkwasị ya ọgwụgwụ ahụ bụ nke akara aka nʼahụ onye ọjọọ ahụ.”
And he shall confirm a covenant with the many [for] one week; and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and because of the protection of abominations [there shall be] a desolator, even until that the consumption and what is determined shall be poured out upon the desolate.
