1 Ihe a ka Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị gosiri m. Otu nkata nke mkpụrụ osisi ọkọchị chara acha jupụtara.
And behold a fowler's basket.
2 Ọ sịrị m, “Emọs, gịnị ka ị na-ahụ?” A sịrị m: “Otu nkata nke mkpụrụ osisi chara acha jupụtara nʼime ya.” Mgbe ahụ, Onyenwe anyị sịrị m, “Oge ọgwụgwụ abịakwasịla ndị m, Izrel. Agaghị m ewezugakwa ntaramahụhụ dịrị ha.”
And he said, What see you, Amos? And I said, A fowler's basket. And the Lord said to me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not pass by them any more.
3 Otu a ka Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị kwupụtara, “Nʼụbọchị ahụ, abụ niile nke a na-abụ nʼime ụlọnsọ ukwu ga-aghọ iti mkpu akwa. Ọtụtụ, ọtụtụ ozu ndị nwụrụ anwụ, nʼebe niile ọbụla ka atụpụsịrị ha! Mkpọtụ ọbụla adịghịkwa!”
And the ceilings of the temple shall howl in that day, says the Lord God: [there shall be] many a fallen one in every place; I will bring silence upon [them].
4 Nụrụnụ nke a, unu ndị na-azọpịa ndị mkpa na-akpa, na-emekwa ka ụmụ ogbenye dị nʼala a gwụsịa,
Hear now this, you that oppress the poor in the morning, and drive the needy ones by tyranny from the earth,
5 na-asị, “Olee mgbe ọnwa ọhụrụ ga-agafe ka anyị ree mkpụrụ ubi, na mgbe ụbọchị izuike ga-agwụ ka anyị ree ọka wiiti?” Ka anyị jiri ihe ọtụtụ dị nta, na ibuli ọnụ ngwa ahịa elu, na aghụghọ site nʼiji ihe ọtụtụ na-ezughị ezu.
saying, When will the month pass away, and we shall sell, and the sabbath, and we shall open the treasure, to make the measure small, and to enlarge the weight, and make the balance unfair?
6 Jiri ọlaọcha zụta ụmụ ogbenye, jirikwa akpụkpọụkwụ abụọ anyị zụta ndị mkpa na-akpa, ma reekọta ọka wiiti anyị zachatara nʼala ya na ezi ọka wiiti.
That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for shoes; and we will trade in every kind of fruit.
7 Onyenwe anyị ewerela nganga Jekọb ṅụọ iyi, “Nʼezie, agaghị m echefu, ọ bụladị otu nʼime ọrụ niile ha rụrụ.”
The Lord swears against the pride of Jacob, None of your works shall ever be forgotten.
8 Ọ bụ na ala agaghị ama jijiji nʼihi nke a, ndị niile bi nʼime ya ha agaghị eru ụjụ? Ala a niile ga-etoju dịka osimiri Naịl, a ga-eme ka ọ magharịa malie elu, ma tachaa dịka iyi Ijipt.
And shall not the land be troubled for these things, and shall not every one who dwells in it mourn? whereas destruction shall come up as a river, and shall descend as the river of Egypt.
9 “Ma nʼụbọchị ahụ,” otu a ka Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị kwubiri ya, “Aga m eme ka anyanwụ daa nʼetiti ehihie, ime ka ọchịchịrị dịrị nʼetiti oke ehihie nke ụbọchị.
And it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord God, [that] the sun shall go down at noon, and the light shall be darkened on the earth by day:
10 Aghaghị m ime ka ụbọchị oke oriri unu ghọọ ụbọchị iru ụjụ; gbanwee abụ unu niile ka ha ghọọ abụ akwa. Aga m eme ka onye ọbụla nʼime unu yiri akwa mkpe, meekwa ka unu kpụchaa isi unu. Aga m eme ka ụbọchị ahụ dịrị ka ụbọchị a na-eru ụjụ, nʼihi otu mkpụrụ nwa nwoke nwụrụ anwụ. Ọgwụgwụ ya ga-adịka ụbọchị na-elu ilu ilu.
and I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head; and I will make them as the mourning of a beloved [friend], and those with them as a day of grief.
11 “Lee, ụbọchị ndị ahụ na-abịa,” otu a ka Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị kwubiri ya, “mgbe m ga-eziga oke ụnwụ nʼelu ala, ọ bụghị ụnwụ nke nri maọbụ nke akpịrị ịkpọ nkụ nke mmiri, kama ọ bụ oke ụnwụ nke ịnụ okwu niile nke Onyenwe anyị.
Behold, the days come, says the Lord, that I will send forth a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the word of the Lord.
12 Ha ga-awagharị site nʼotu osimiri ruo nʼosimiri ọzọ, sitekwa nʼugwu ruo nʼọwụwa anyanwụ; ha ga-agbagharị nʼelu na ala ịchọ okwu Onyenwe anyị, ma ha agaghị achọta ya.
And the waters shall be troubled from sea to sea, and from the north to the east shall [men] run hither and there, seeking the word of the Lord, and they shall not find [it].
13 “Nʼụbọchị ahụ, “ụmụ agbọghọ ndị mara mma ile anya, na ụmụ okorobịa ndị dị ike ga-ada mba nʼihi akpịrị ịkpọ nkụ.
In that day shall the fair virgins and the young men faint for thirst;
14 Ndị ahụ na-eji mmehie Sameria na-aṅụ iyi, ndị na-asị, ‘Dịka chi gị na-adị ndụ, gị Dan,’ nakwa, ‘Ebe ọ bụ na chi ndị Bịasheba na-adị ndụ,’ ha ga-ada, ha agakwaghị ebilite ọzọ.”
they who swear by the propitiation of Samaria, and who say, Your god, O Dan, lives; and, Your god, O Bersabee, lives; and they shall fall, and shall no more rise again.
