< Emọs 7 >

1 Ihe a ka Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị mere ka m hụ. Lee, ọ na-akwado igwe igurube nke ga-abịa bibie ihe ubi niile ga-etopụta mgbe e burula ụzọ wee ihe ubi nke mbụ nke a na-enye eze, dịka ihe ruuru ya.
This is what the Lord God let me see: and I saw that, when the growth of the late grass was starting, he made locusts; it was the late growth after the king's cutting was done.
2 Mgbe ha tachara ahịhịa niile dị nʼala ahụ, etiri m mkpu: “Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị biko arịọọ m gị, gbaghara. Jekọb ọ ga-esi aṅa guzosie ike? Lee, ọ dịkarịrị nta.”
And it came about that after they had taken all the grass of the land, I said, O Lord God, have mercy: how will Jacob be able to keep his place? for he is small.
3 Onyenwe anyị chegharịrị banyere ihe ndị a. Onyenwe anyị kwuru sị, “Ihe dị otu a agaghị emekwa.”
The Lord, changing his purpose about this, said, It will not be.
4 Ihe a ka Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị gosiri m: Lee, Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị na-akpọku ọkụ iji ya kpee ikpe. Ọkụ ahụ repịara ogbu mmiri, repịakwa ala ahụ niile.
This is what the Lord let me see: and I saw that the Lord God sent for a great fire to be the instrument of his punishment; and, after burning up the great deep, it was about to put an end to the Lord's heritage.
5 Mgbe ahụ, asịrị m, “Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị biko, arịọọ m gị kwụsị! Olee otu Jekọb ga-esi guzosie ike? Lee na ọ dịkarịrị nta!”
Then said I, O Lord God, let there be an end: how will Jacob be able to keep his place? for he is small.
6 Onyenwe anyị chegharịrị banyere ihe ndị a. Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị kwuru, “Ihe dị otu a agaghị emekwa.”
The Lord, changing his purpose about this, said, And this will not be.
7 Nke a ka o gosiri m, lee, Onyenwe anyị na-eguzo nʼakụkụ mgbidi nke e ji ihe ịtụ mgbidi tụọ nke ọma, o jikwa ihe ịtụ mgbidi nʼaka ya.
This is what he let me see: and I saw the Lord stationed by a wall made straight by a weighted line, and he had a weighted line in his hand.
8 Onyenwe anyị sịrị m, “Emọs, gịnị ka ị na-ahụ?” Asịrị m, “Ihe ịtụ mgbidi.” Mgbe ahụ, Onyenwe anyị kwuru, “Lee, mụ onwe m na-edo ihe ịtụ mgbidi nʼetiti ndị m bụ Izrel, agaghịkwa m esi ebe ha nọ gafee.
And the Lord said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A weighted line. Then the Lord said, See, I will let down a weighted line among my people Israel; never again will my eyes be shut to their sin:
9 “Ebe niile e wuliri elu nke Aịzik aghaghị ịbụ ebe e mebiri emebi, ebe nsọ niile nke Izrel aghaghị ịbụ ebe tọgbọrọ nʼefu, aghakwaghị m iweli mma agha m elu iji megide ụlọ Jeroboam.”
And the high places of Isaac will be unpeopled, and the holy places of Israel will be made waste; and I will come up against the family of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 Mgbe ahụ, Amazaya onye nchụaja nọ na Betel zigaara Jeroboam bụ eze Izrel ozi na-asị, “Emọs na-akwalị izu nzuzo ka ọ megide gị nʼetiti ụlọ Izrel, ala apụghị ibu okwu niile sị ya nʼọnụ apụta.
Then Amaziah, the priest of Beth-el, sent to Jeroboam, king of Israel, saying, Amos has made designs against you among the people of Israel: the land is troubled by his words.
11 Nke bụ ihe Emọs nọ na-asị, “‘Jeroboam aghaghị ịnwụ site na mma agha, Izrel aghakwaghị isite nʼala amụrụ ha jee biri nʼala ọzọ, dịka ndị a dọtara nʼagha.’”
For Amos has said, Jeroboam will be put to the sword, and Israel will certainly be taken away as a prisoner out of his land.
12 Mgbe ahụ, Amazaya gwara Emọs, “Gị onye ọhụ ụzọ, gbara ọsọ gbalaa ala Juda. Jee nʼebe ahụ, rie achịcha nke sitere nʼibu amụma gị, nọrọkwa nʼebe ahụ buo amụma gị.
And Amaziah said to Amos, O seer, go in flight into the land of Judah, and there get your living by working as a prophet:
13 Ebula amụma ọzọ na Betel, nʼihi na ọ bụ ebe nsọ nke eze, ọ bụkwa ụlọnsọ ukwu nke alaeze ya.”
But be a prophet no longer at Beth-el: for it is the holy place of the king, and the king's house.
14 Mgbe ahụ, Emọs zaghachiri Amazaya, “Ọ dịghị mgbe m bụ onye amụma, abụkwaghị m nwa onye amụma, kama abụ m onye na-elekọta igwe ewu na atụrụ, na onye ọrụ na-azụ osisi sikamọ.
Then Amos in answer said to Amaziah, I am no prophet, or one of the sons of the prophets; I am a herdman and one who takes care of sycamore-trees:
15 Ma Onyenwe anyị sitere nʼebe ịzụ igwe ewu na atụrụ kpọpụta m, Onyenwe anyị sịrị m: ‘Gaa buoro ndị m Izrel amụma.’
And the Lord took me from the flock, and the Lord said to me, Go, be a prophet to my people Israel.
16 Nʼihi ya, ugbu a nụrụ okwu Onyenwe anyị, ma unu na-asị, “‘Ebula amụma megide Izrel, ekwukwala okwu megide ụlọ Aịzik.’
Now then, give ear to the word of the Lord: You say, Be no prophet to Israel, and say not a word against the people of Isaac.
17 “Ya mere, otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, “‘Nwunye gị ga-aghọ nwanyị na-agba akwụna nʼime obodo. Ụmụ gị ndị nwoke na ndị nwanyị ka a ga-eji mma agha gbuo. A ga-atụ ala gị nʼihe ọtụtụ, kewasịa ya nye ndị ọzọ, ma gị onwe gị ga-anwụ nʼala rụrụ arụ. A ghakwaghị ịdọta Izrel nʼagha mee ka ha gaa biri nʼala ndị mba ọzọ.’”
So this is what the Lord has said: Your wife will be a loose woman in the town, and your sons and your daughters will be put to the sword, and your land will be cut up into parts by a line; and you yourself will come to your end in an unclean land, and Israel will certainly be taken away a prisoner out of his land.
