< 2 Samuel 3 >
There was then long warre betweene the house of Saul and the house of Dauid: but Dauid waxed stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker.
2 A mụtaara ọtụtụ ụmụ ndị ikom nye Devid mgbe ọ nọ na Hebrọn. Ọkpara ya bụ Amnọn nke, Ahinoam bụ nwanyị Jezril mụrụ.
And vnto Dauid were children borne in Hebron: and his eldest sonne was Amnon of Ahinoam the Izreelite,
3 Nke abụọ bụ Kiliab, nke Abigel, nwunye ochie Nebal, onye Kamel mụrụ. Nke atọ bụ Absalọm, nke Maaka nwa nwanyị Talmai, bụ eze Geshua mụrụ.
And his seconde, was Chileab of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite: and the third, Absalom the sonne of Maacah the daughter of Talmai the King of Geshur,
4 Nke anọ bụ Adonaịja, nwa nwoke Hagit. Nke ise bụ Shefataya nwa Abital;
And the fourth, Adoniiah the sonne of Haggith, and the fifth, Shephatiah the sonne of Abital,
5 nke isii bụ Itream, nwa nwoke Egla nwunye Devid. Ndị a ka a mụtaara Devid na Hebrọn.
And the sixt, Ithream by Eglah Dauids wife: these were borne to Dauid in Hebron.
6 O ruo, mgbe agha na-aga nʼihu nʼetiti ụlọ Sọl na ụlọ Devid, na Abna nọ na-eme ka ọnọdụ ya sie ike nʼụlọ Sọl.
Nowe while there was warre betweene the house of Saul and the house of Dauid, Abner made all his power for the house of Saul.
7 Ma Sọl nwererịị otu iko nwanyị aha ya bụ Rizpa, nwa Aịa. Ishboshet jụrụ Abna ajụjụ sị, “Gịnị mere gị na iko nwanyị nna m ji dinaa?”
And Saul had a concubine named Rizpah, the daughter of Aiiah. And Ish-bosheth sayde to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in to my fathers concubine?
8 Iwe were Abna nke ukwuu nʼihi ihe Ishboshet kwuru. Ya mere, ọ zara, “Ọ bụ isi nkịta nke ụlọ Juda ka m bụ? Taa ka m ji obi m niile na-ejere ụlọ nna gị, bụ Sọl, na ezinaụlọ ya, na ndị enyi ya ozi. Ewerebeghị m gị nyefee nʼaka Devid. Ma lee, ugbu a i na-ebo m ebubo ajọ omume nʼihe metụtara nwanyị a.
Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I a dogges head, which against Iudah do shew mercie this day vnto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his neighbours, and haue not deliuered thee into the hande of Dauid, that thou chargest me this day with a fault concerning this woman?
9 Ka Chineke mesoo Abna mmeso, otu ọbụla mmeso ahụ si dị njọ, ma ọ bụrụ na m emereghị Devid ihe ndị ahụ niile Onyenwe anyị sitere nʼịṅụ iyi kwee nkwa inye ya.
So doe God to Abner, and more also, except, as the Lord hath sworne to Dauid, euen so I doe to him,
To remoue the kingdome from the house of Saul, that the throne of Dauid may be stablished ouer Israel, and ouer Iudah, euen from Dan to Beer-sheba.
11 Ishboshet ekwughị ihe ọbụla nʼihi na ọ na-atụ Abna egwu.
And he durst no more answere to Abner: for he feared him.
Then Abner sent messengers to Dauid on his behalfe, saying, Whose is the lande? who should also say, Make couenant with me, and beholde, mine hande shalbe with thee, to bring all Israel vnto thee.
13 Devid sịrị, “Ọ dị mma. Mụ na unu ga-agba ndụ. Ma ọ dị otu ihe m chọrọ nʼaka unu. Unu agaghị ahụ ihu m anya ma ọ bụrụ na unu eduteghị Mikal, nwa Sọl, mgbe unu ga-abịa ịhụ m.”
Who saide, Well, I will make a couenant with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, that thou see not my face except thou bring Michal Sauls daughter when thou commest to see me.
14 Devid ziri Ishboshet nwa Sọl ozi sị ya, “Dulatara m nwunye m Mikal, nʼihi na ọ bụ narị apị ndị Filistia ka m ji lụtara ya onwe m.”
Then Dauid sent messengers to Ish-bosheth Sauls sonne, saying, Deliuer me my wife Michal, which I marryed for an hundreth foreskinnes of the Philistims.
15 Na-atụfughị oge, Ishboshet nyere iwu ka e site nʼaka di ya bụ Paltiel, nwa Laish, kpọpụta ya.
And Ish-bosheth sent, and tooke her from her husband Phaltiel the sonne of Laish.
And her husband went with her, and came weeping behinde her, vnto Bahurim: then saide Abner vnto him, Go, and returne. So he returned.
17 Abna na ndị okenye Izrel kparịtara ụka. Ọ chetaara ha sị ha, “Ọ dịla anya kemgbe unu na-achọ ka Devid bụrụ eze unu.
And Abner had communication with the Elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for Dauid in times past, that he might be your King.
18 Ugbu a meenụ ya, nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị kweere Devid nkwa, ‘Site nʼaka ohu m bụ Devid ka m ga-esi zọpụta ndị m bụ Izrel site nʼaka ndị Filistia, nakwa site nʼaka ndị iro ha niile.’”
Nowe then doe it: for the Lord hath spoken of Dauid, saying, By the hand of my seruant Dauid I will saue my people Israel out of the handes of the Philistims, and out of the handes of all their enemies.
19 Abna gwakwara ndị Benjamin okwu. Emesịa, o jere Hebrọn ịgwa Devid ihe niile ndị Izrel na ndị Benjamin zubere ime.
Also Abner spake to Beniamin, and afterward Abner went to speake with Dauid in Hebron, concerning all that Israel was content with, and the whole house of Beniamin.
Mgbe ha ruru, Devid meere ha oke oriri.
So Abner came to Dauid to Hebron, hauing twentie men with him, and Dauid made a feast vnto Abner, and to the men that were with him.
21 Mgbe ahụ, Abna sịrị Devid, “Ka m gaa ngwangwa ga kpọkọtaa ndị Izrel niile, nye onyenwe m bụ eze, ka gị na ha gbaa ndụ, ka ị bụrụ eze ndị niile mkpụrụobi gị na-achọsi ike.” Ya mere Devid zilara Abna. Ọ laa nʼudo.
Then Abner sayde vnto Dauid, I will rise vp, and goe gather all Israel vnto my lorde the King, that they may make a couenant with thee, and that thou mayest reigne ouer all that thine heart desireth. Then Dauid let Abner depart, who went in peace.
And beholde, the seruants of Dauid and Ioab came from the campe, and brought a great pray with them (but Abner was not with Dauid in Hebron: for he had sent him away, and he departed in peace)
When Ioab, and all the hoste that was with him were come, men tolde Ioab, saying, Abner the sonne of Ner came to the King, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
24 Ya mere Joab jekwuuru eze sị ya, “Gịnị ka i mere? Lee, Abna bịakwutere gị. Gịnị mere i ji hapụ ya ka ọ laa? Lee ya ugbu a, ọ laala!
Then Ioab came to the King, and saide, What hast thou done? beholde, Abner came vnto thee, why hast thou sent him away, and he is departed?
25 Ị maara onye Abna nwa Nea bụ? Ọ bịara ịghọ gị aghụghọ, na inyocha njegharị gị, ịchọpụta ihe niile ị na-eme.”
Thou knowest Abner the sonne of Ner: for he came to deceiue thee, and to knowe thy outgoing and ingoing, and to knowe all that thou doest.
And when Ioab was gone out from Dauid, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him againe from the well of Siriah vnknowing to Dauid.
27 Mgbe Abna lọghachiri na Hebrọn, Joab duuru ya gaa nʼakụkụ ọnụ ụzọ ama, dịka ọ chọrọ ka ha kparịtaa ụka. Ngwangwa, ọ mịpụtara nwa mma ya, jiri ya magbuo Abna, nʼihi ịbọ ọbọ ọbara nwanne ya, bụ Asahel.
And when Abner was come againe to Hebron, Ioab tooke him aside in the gate to speake with him peaceably, and smote him vnder the fift ryb, that he dyed, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
28 Mgbe emesịrị, Devid nụrụ banyere ya, ọ sịrị, “Aka m dị ọcha, ya na nke alaeze m nʼihu Onyenwe anyị banyere ọbara Abna, nwa Nea.
And when afterwarde it came to Dauids eare, he saide, I and my kingdome are giltlesse before the Lord for euer, concerning the blood of Abner the sonne of Ner.
29 Ka ikpe ọmụma a dakwasị Joab nʼisi, nakwa ezinaụlọ nna ya niile, ka a gharakwa ịhụ nʼụlọ Joab onye na-adịghị arịa ọrịa ahụ ihe ntokasị, maọbụ ọrịa ekpenta, maọbụ onye ji mkpara eji akpa akwa, maọbụ onye ga-anwụ site na mma agha, maọbụ onye ụkọ nri adịghị akọ.”
Let the blood fall on the head of Ioab, and on all his fathers house, that the house of Ioab be neuer without some that haue running issues, or leper, or that leaneth on a staffe, or that doeth fall on the sworde, or that lacketh bread.
(So Ioab and Abishai his brother slewe Abner, because he had slaine their brother Asahel at Gibeon in battel)
31 Emesịa, Devid kpọrọ Joab na ndị niile so ya sị ha, “Dọwaanụ uwe unu, yikwasị onwe unu akwa mkpe, jegharịakwanụ nʼọnọdụ iru ụjụ nʼihi Abna.” Eze, bụ Devid nʼonwe ya so ndị bu ozu Abna nʼazụ.
And Dauid said to Ioab, and to al the people that were with him, Rent your clothes, and put on sackecloth, and mourne before Abner: and King Dauid him selfe followed the beare.
32 Ha liri Abna na Hebrọn. Eze na ndị Izrel niile kwara akwa nʼakụkụ ili ahụ nʼihi Abna.
And when they had buryed Abner in Hebron, the King lift vp his voyce, and wept beside the sepulchre of Abner, and all the people wept.
33 Eze bụrụ abụ akwa nʼihi Abna, sị, “O kwesiri ka Abna nwụọ dịka onye nzuzu?
And the King lamented ouer Abner, and sayde, Dyed Abner as a foole dyeth?
34 E kekwaghị aka gị abụọ ihe. E kekwaghị ụkwụ gị abụọ agbụ. Ị nwụrụ dịka onye ndị ajọ omume gburu.” Mmadụ niile bekwara akwa ọzọ nʼihi ya.
Thine handes were not bounde, nor thy feete tyed in fetters of brasse: but as a man falleth before wicked men, so diddest thou fall. And all the people wept againe for him.
35 Mgbe ahụ, ndị mmadụ bịakwutere Devid rịọọ ka o ritụ ihe, mgbe ìhè ụbọchị ka dị, ma Devid ṅụrụ iyi sị, “Ka Chineke mesoo m mmeso, otu ọbụla mmeso ahụ si dị njọ, ma ọ bụrụ na m edetụ achịcha maọbụ ihe ọbụla ọzọ ọnụ tutu ruo mgbe anyanwụ dara.”
Afterwarde all the people came to cause Dauid eate meate while it was yet day, but Dauid sware, saying, So doe God to me and more also, if I taste bread, or ought els till the sunne be downe.
36 Ndị mmadụ nụrụ ihe o kwuru, okwu ahụ tọkwara ha ụtọ. Nʼezie, ihe niile eze mere tọrọ ha ụtọ.
And all the people knewe it, and it pleased them: as whatsoeuer the King did, pleased all the people.
37 Nʼụbọchị ndị mmadụ niile nọ ebe ahụ ka Izrel niile matara na eze amaghị ihe banyere ọnwụ Abna, nwa Nea.
For all the people and all Israel vnderstoode that day, howe that it was not the Kings deede that Abner the sonne of Ner was slaine.
38 Devid jụrụ ndị ikom ya ajụjụ sị, “Unu ghọtakwara na onye a dara nʼIzrel taa bụ nwa eze na onye dị mkpa?
And the King said vnto his seruants, Know ye not, that there is a prince and a great man falle this day in Israel?
39 Ọ bụ ezie na m bụ onye Onyenwe anyị tere mmanụ ịbụ eze, ma o nweghị ihe m pụrụ ime ụmụ ndị ikom Zeruaya ndị a, nʼihi na ha dị ike karịa m. Ka Onyenwe anyị kwụghachi onye ọjọọ ihe ọjọọ ọ mere.”
And I am this day weake and newly anoynted King: and these men the sonnes of Zeruiah be too harde for me: the Lord rewarde the doer of euill according to his wickednesse.
