< 2 Samuel 24 >

1 Ọzọkwa, Onyenwe anyị were iwe dị ọkụ megide Izrel. Ọ kpaliri Devid imegide ha, sị, “Gaa gụọ Izrel na Juda ọnụ.”
And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
2 Ya mere, eze gwara Joab na ndịisi ọchịagha ya ha so, “Jegharịa nʼebo niile nke Izrel, site na Dan ruo Bịasheba, gụkọtaa ndị tozuru ije agha nʼIzrel niile ka m nwee ike mata ole ọnụọgụgụ ha dị.”
For the king said to Joab the captain of the host, who was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.
3 Joab zaghachiri eze, “Ka Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke gị, mee ka ndị agha mụbaa, otu onye narị ụzọ, otu onye narị ụzọ karịa. Ka anya onyenwe m, bụ eze, hụkwa ya. Ma nʼihi gịnị ka onyenwe m bụ eze ji chọọ ime ihe dị otu a?”
And Joab said to the king, Now the LORD thy God add to the people, as many as they may be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?
4 Ma okwu eze dị ike karịa nke Joab na nke ndị ọchịagha ahụ. Ya mere, ha hapụrụ ihu eze pụọ ịgụ ndị agha Izrel ọnụ.
But the king’s word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
5 Mgbe ha gabigachara Jọdan, ha manyere ụlọ ikwu ha na nso Aroea, nʼaka nri obodo ahụ dị nʼetiti ndagwurugwu Gad na-eru Jeza,
And they passed over Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:
6 ha gara Gilead ruokwa nʼala Taatim Hodshi, bịarukwaa Dan Jaan, jee gburugburu jeruo Saịdọn.
Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon,
7 Ha jere ruokwa nʼebe e wusiri ike nke Taịa, na obodo niile nke ndị Hiv, na nke ndị Kenan. Nʼikpeazụ, ha gaara ruo Bịasheba nʼime ndịda Juda.
And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba.
8 Mgbe ha jegharịchara nʼala ahụ niile; ha lọghachitere na Jerusalem na ngwụcha ọnwa nke itoolu na iri abalị abụọ ya.
So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
9 Joab nyere eze ngụkọta ọnụọgụgụ nke ndị agha Izrel. NʼIzrel, ha dị narị puku asatọ, bụ ndị ikom ndị tozuru iji mma agha buo agha, na Juda ha dị narị puku ise.
And Joab presented the sum of the number of the people to the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10 Ma obi Devid bidoro ịta ya ụta mgbe ọ gụchara ndị ikom na-alụ agha ọnụ. Ọ sịrị Onyenwe anyị, “Emehiela m nke ukwuu nʼihi ihe m mere. Ma ugbu a, Onyenwe anyị biko, arịọ m gị, wezuga ikpe ọmụma nke dịịrị ohu gị; nʼihi na emeela m ihe nzuzu dị ukwuu.”
And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said to the LORD, I have sinned greatly in what I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
11 Nʼụtụtụ echi ya, tupu Devid na-eteta nʼụra, okwu Onyenwe anyị eruola Gad onye amụma, bụ onye ọhụ ụzọ Devid, sị,
For when David had risen in the morning, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,
12 “Gaa gwa Devid, ‘Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị na-ekwu: Ụzọ ihe atọ ka m na-eche gị nʼihu. Họrọ otu nʼime ha nke m ga-eme ka ọ bịakwasị gị.’”
Go and say to David, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it to thee.
13 Ya mere, Gad jekwuuru Devid sị ya, “Ọ bụ ka oke ụnwụ ịda nʼala gị afọ atọ? Ka ọ bụ na ị ga-agbalaga site nʼihu ndị iro gị ọnwa atọ, ka ha na-achụ gị ọsọ? Ka ọ bụ ka ajọ ọrịa na-efe efe daa nʼala gị mkpụrụ ụbọchị atọ? Ugbu a, chee echiche, kpebie ọsịsa ị chọrọ ka m weghachiri onye ahụ zitere m.”
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said to him, Shall seven years of famine come upon thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thy enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days’ pestilence in thy land? now consider, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
14 Devid sịrị Gad, “Anọ m nʼoke nsogbu, ọ ka mma ka anyị daba nʼaka Onyenwe anyị karịa ịdaba nʼaka mmadụ, nʼihi na obi ebere ya bara ụba.”
And David said to Gad, I am in deep distress: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
15 Nʼihi ya, Onyenwe anyị zitere ajọ ọrịa na-efe efe nʼala Izrel, site nʼụtụtụ ahụ ruo oge akara aka. Ọ bụ iri puku mmadụ asaa nwụrụ site na Dan ruo Bịasheba.
So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.
16 Mgbe mmụọ ozi ahụ setịpụrụ aka ya ibibi Jerusalem, o wutere Onyenwe anyị nʼihi oke mbibi ahụ. Ọ sịrị mmụọ ozi ahụ nke na-eweta nhụju anya nye ndị mmadụ, “O zuola. Seghachi aka gị.” Mgbe ahụ, mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị nọ nʼebe ịzọcha ọka Arauna onye Jebus.
And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thy hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
And David spoke to the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.
18 Nʼụbọchị ahụ, Gad bịara nʼụlọ Devid gwa ya sị, “Gaa, wuore Onyenwe anyị ebe ịchụ aja nʼebe ịzọcha ọka Arauna, onye Jebus.”
And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, Go up, rear an altar to the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.
19 Ya mere, Devid rubere isi gaa mee dịka iwu Onyenwe anyị nyere site nʼọnụ Gad.
And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.
20 Mgbe Arauna weliri anya hụ eze na ndị ọrụ ya ka ha na-abịa nʼebe ọ nọ, ọ pụtara kpọọ isiala nye eze. Kpudokwa ihu ya nʼala.
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.
21 Arauna sịrị, “Gịnị mere onyenwe m, bụ eze ji bịakwute ohu ya?” Devid zaghachiri, “Abịara m ịzụrụ ebe ịzọcha ọka gị, ka m nwee ike wuore Onyenwe anyị ebe ịchụ aja; ka akwụsị ọrịa a na-efe efe dakwasịrị ndị mmadụ.”
And Araunah said, Why is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar to the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
22 Arauna sịrị Devid, “Ka onyenwe m, bụ eze were ihe ọbụla ọ chọrọ, werekwa chụọ aja. Lee ehi maka iji chụọ aja nsure ọkụ, leekwa ihe igwe ịzọcha ọka niile, na osisi ndị ahụ niile a na-anyanye ehi nʼolu, ka ha bụrụ nkụ.
And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good to him: behold, here are oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.
23 Eze, ihe ndị a niile ka mụ bụ Arauna na-enye eze, ka Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị nabatakwa gị.”
All these things did Araunah, as a king, give to the king. And Araunah said to the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.
24 Ma eze zaghachiri Arauna, “Ee, aghaghị m ịkwụzu gị ụgwụ ya, nʼihi na agaghị m achụrụ Onyenwe anyị, bụ Chineke m aja nsure ọkụ nke na-agaghị efu m ihe ọbụla.” Ya mere, Devid zụrụ ebe ịzọcha ọka ahụ na ehi ahụ niile, kwụọ Arauna iri shekel ọlaọcha ise, nʼihi ha.
And the king said to Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25 Devid wuru ebe ịchụrụ Onyenwe anyị aja nʼebe ahụ. Chụọkwa aja nsure ọkụ na aja udo. Mgbe ahụ, Onyenwe anyị zara ekpere o kpere nʼihi ala ahụ. Nrịa nrịa ahụ na-efe efe nke dakwasịrị Izrel kwụsịkwara.
And David built there an altar to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
