< 2 Samuel 13 >
1 Absalọm nwa Devid nwere otu nwanne nwanyị mara mma, aha ya bụ Tama. Ma Amnọn, otu nʼime ụmụ ndị ikom Devid, hụrụ nwaagbọghọ a nʼanya.
And it happened after this that Abessalom the son of David had a very beautiful sister, and her name [was] Themar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
2 Ma ịhụnanya a Amnọn hụrụ Tama nwanne ya nwanyị mere ya ka ọ daa ọrịa, nʼihi na ọ bụ ihe rara Amnọn ahụ ịchọpụta ụzọ ya na Tama ga-esi nwee mmekọ, ebe ọ bụ na Tama bụ nwaagbọghọ na-amaghị nwoke.
And Amnon was distressed even to sickness, because of Themar his sister; for she was a virgin, and it seemed very difficult for Amnon to do anything to her.
3 Ma Amnọn nwere otu enyi dị aghụghọ, onye aha ya bụ Jonadab, nwa Shimea, nwanne Devid.
And Amnon had a friend, and his name [was] Jonadab, the son of Samaa the brother of David: and Jonadab [was] a very cunning man.
4 Otu ụbọchị, Jonadab bịakwutere Amnọn jụọ ya sị, “Gịnị mere, gị bụ nwa eze ji na-ata ahụ ụtụtụ niile? Ọ bụ na ị gaghị akọrọ m?” Amnọn gwara ya sị, “Ahụrụ m Tama nʼanya, bụ nwanne Absalọm, nwanne m nwoke.”
And he said to him, What ails you that you are thus weak? O son of the king, morning by morning? will you not tell me? and Ammon said, I love Themar the sister of my brother Abessalom.
5 Jonadab gwara ya sị, “Ọ dị mma. Lee ihe ị ga-eme. Gaa dinaa ala, dịka a ga-asị na ahụ adịghị gị. Mgbe nna gị bịara ileta gị, gwa ya okwu sị ya, ‘Achọrọ m ka nwanne m nwanyị bụ Tama bịa nye m ihe oriri. Achọrọ m ka ọ nọdụ nʼihu m sie nri ahụ, mgbe m na-ele ya anya, ka o jirikwa aka ya nye m nri ahụ.’”
And Jonadab said to him, Lie upon your bed, and make yourself sick, and your father shall come in to see you; and you shall say to him, Let, I pray you, Themar my sister come, and feed me with morsels, and let her prepare food before my eyes, that I may see and eat at her hands.
6 Amnọn mere otu a.
So Ammon lay down, and made himself sick; and the king came in to see him: and Amnon said to the king, Let, I pray you, my sister Themar come to me, and make a couple of cakes in my sight, and I will eat them at her hand.
7 Devid kwenyere, zie Tama ka ọ gaa nʼụlọ Amnọn gaa siere ya nri.
And David sent to Themar to the house, saying, Go now to your brother's house, and dress him food.
8 Tama gara nʼụlọ Amnọn, banyekwa nʼime ụlọ ebe o dinaa, ka Amnọn na-ele ya anya mgbe ọ na-agwọgharị ụtụ ọka. Emesịa, Tama gheere ya achịcha mara mma.
And Themar went to the house of her brother Amnon, and he [was] lying down: and she took the dough and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.
9 Mgbe o cheziri achịcha ahụ nʼihu Amnọn, Amnọn jụrụ iri ya. Ihe o mere mgbe ahụ bụ inye ndị na-ejere ya ozi nọ nʼebe ahụ iwu sị ha niile pụọ ngwangwa. Ha niile pụkwara.
And she took the frying pan and poured them out before him, but he would not eat. And Amnon said, Send out every man from about me. And they removed every man from about him.
10 Mgbe ahụ, Amnọn gwara Tama okwu sị, “Ugbu a, wetara m nri ahụ nʼime ụlọ ndina m, bịa jiri aka gị nye m ya.” Tama bugaara ya achịcha ahụ nʼime ụlọ ebe ihe ndina ya dị.
And Amnon said to Themar, Bring in the food into the closet, and I will eat of your hand. And Themar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them to her brother Amnon into the chamber.
11 Ma mgbe Tama guzo nʼihu ya, Amnọn jidere ya nʼike sị ya, “Bịa, soro m dinaa, nwanne m nwanyị.”
And she brought [them] to him to eat, and he caught hold of her, and said to her, Come, lie with me, my sister.
12 Tama zara sị ya, “Mba! Nwanne m nwoke. Emerụla m. Ihe dị otu a ekwesighị ime nʼala Izrel. Emela ihe ọjọọ dị otu a.
And she said to him, Nay, my brother, do not humble me, for it ought not to be so done in Israel; do not this folly.
13 Olee ihe ga-abụ ọnọdụ m? Oleekwanụ ihe ga-abụ ọnọdụ gị? Olee ebe m ga-agbala izo onwe m nʼihi ihe ihere ga-adịrị m ma i mee ihe dị otu a? Ị ga-adị ka otu nʼime ndị nzuzu ọjọọ dị nʼIzrel. Biko, gwa eze, ọ ga-ekwe ka ị lụọ m.”
And I, whither shall I remove my reproach? and you shall be as one of the fools in Israel. And now, speak, I pray you, to the king, for surely he will not keep me from you.
14 Ma Amnọn egeghị ntị. Ebe ọ bụ na ọ ka Tama ike, o jidere ya dinaa ya nʼike merụọ ya.
But Amnon would not listen to her voice; and he prevailed against her, and humbled her, and lay with her.
15 Emesịa, Amnọn kpọrọ Tama asị. Nʼezie, ọ kpọrọ ya asị ugbu a karịa ịhụnanya ọ hụrụ ya na mbụ. Ọ gwara Tama okwu sị ya, “Bilie si nʼebe a pụọ ọsịịsọ!”
Then Amnon hated her with very great hatred; for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her, for the last wickedness was greater than the first: and Amnon said to her, Rise, and be gone.
16 Ma Tama kwara akwa sị ya, “Mba! Ịjụ m otu a ka njọ karịa ihe ọjọọ i mere m.” Ma Amnọn egeghị ya ntị.
And Themar spoke to him concerning this great mischief, greater, [said she], than the other that you did me, to send me away: but Amnon would not listen to her voice.
17 Ọ kpọrọ nwokorobịa na-ejere ya ozi sị ya, “Chụpụ nwanyị a nʼezi, kpachiere m ụzọ nʼazụ.”
And he called his servant who had charge of the house, and said to him, Put now this [woman] out from me, and shut the door after her.
18 Onyeozi ya chụpụrụ ya nʼezi, kpachie ụzọ nʼazụ ya. Uwe mwụda nwere aka ogologo ka Tama yi, nʼihi na ọ bụ ụdị nke ụmụ ndị inyom eze na-amaghị nwoke na-eyi.
And she had on her a variegated robe, for so were the king's daughters that were virgins attired in their apparel: and his servant led her forth, and shut the door after her.
19 Tama dọwara uwe mwụda ahụ o yi nʼahụ, werekwa ntụ kpokwasị onwe ya nʼisi, buru aka ya nʼisi na-eti mkpu akwa dịka ọ na-ala.
And Themar took ashes, and put them on her head; and she tore the variegated garment that was upon her: and she laid her hands on her head, and went crying continually.
20 Nwanne ya nwoke, Absalọm jụrụ ya sị, “Amnọn, nwanne gị nwoke, o dinakwuuru gị? Ma ugbu a, nwanne m, gba nkịtị, nwanne gị nwoke ka ọ bụ. Etinyela ihe a mere nʼobi.” Tama nọrọ dịka onye mmadụ niile jụrụ ajụ nʼụlọ nwanne ya nwoke, bụ Absalọm.
And Abessalom her brother said to her, Has your brother Amnon been with you? now then, my sister, be silent, for he is your brother: be not careful to mention this matter. So Themar lived as a widow in the house of her brother Abessalom.
21 Mgbe eze Devid nụrụ ihe ndị a niile, iwe were ya nke ukwuu.
And king David heard of all these things, and was very angry; but he did not grieve the spirit of his son Amnon, because be loved him, for he was his firstborn.
22 Absalọm agwaghị Amnọn okwu ọbụla, maọbụ nke dị mma, maọbụ okwu ọjọọ. Ma ọ kpọrọ Amnọn asị nke ukwuu nʼihi ọnọdụ iweda nʼala o wedara nwanne ya Tama, mee ya ihe ihere.
And Abessalom spoke not to Amnon, good or bad, because Abessalom hated Amnon, on account of his humbling his sister Themar.
23 Mgbe afọ abụọ gasịrị, mgbe ndị na-akpụchara Absalọm ajị ụmụ atụrụ ya nọ na Baal-Hazọ, nʼoke ala Ifrem, ọ kpọkọtara ụmụ ndị ikom eze niile ka ha bịa nʼebe ahụ.
And it came to pass at the end of two whole years, that they were shearing [sheep] for Abessalom in Belasor near Ephraim: and Abessalom invited all the king's sons.
24 Absalọm jekwuuru eze sị ya, “Ndị na-akpụcha ajị ụmụ atụrụ ohu gị bịara. Eze na ndịisi ozi ya, ha ga-abịa sonyere m?”
And Abessalom came to the king, and said, Behold, your servant has a sheep-shearing; let now the king and his servants go with your servant.
And the king said to Abessalom, Nay, my son, let us not all go, and let us not be burdensome to you. And he pressed him; but he would not go, but blessed him.
26 Mgbe ahụ, Absalọm rịọrọ nna ya sị, “Ọ dị mma, ọ bụrụ na ị gaghị abịa, ị ga-emekwa ka nwanna m nwoke Amnọn, na ụmụ eze ndị ọzọ bịa?” Eze jụrụ ya sị, “Nʼihi gịnị ka Amnọn ga-eji soro gị gaa?”
And Abessalom said to him, And if not, let I pray you, my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, Why should he go with you?
27 Ma Absalọm rụgidere ya, ya mere o zipụrụ Amnọn na ụmụ eze ndị ọzọ ka ha soro ya gaa.
And Abessalom pressed him, and he sent with him Amnon and all the king's sons; and Abessalom made a banquet like the banquet of the king.
28 Mgbe ahụ, Absalọm nyere ndị na-ejere ya ozi iwu banyere Amnọn sị, “Cherenụ ruo mgbe mmanya bidoro igbu ya, mgbe m sịkwara unu tigbuo ya, unu atụla egwu, tigbuonụ ya. Ọ bụ m na-ekwu ihe ga-eme nʼebe a. Nweenụ obi ike, meekwanụ ya.”
And Abessalom charged his servants, saying, Mark when the heart of Amnon shall be merry with wine, and I shall say to you, Strike Amnon, and kill him: fear not; for is it not I that command you? Be courageous, and be valiant.
29 Mgbe oge ruru, ndị ozi Absalọm tigburu Amnọn. Mgbe ahụ, ụmụ eze niile biliri makwasị nʼịnyịnya ha gbalaga.
And the servants of Abessalom did to Amnon as Abessalom commanded them: and all the sons of the king rose up, and they mounted every man his mule, and fled.
30 Mgbe ha ka nọ nʼụzọ na-agbaga Jerusalem, ozi eruolarị Devid ntị sị, “Absalọm egbuchaala ụmụ eze niile, ọ dịkwaghị otu onye nʼime ha fọdụrụ ndụ!”
And it came to pass, when they were in the way, that a report came to David, saying, Abessalom has slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.
31 Eze biliri ọtọ, dọwaa uwe ya, daa nʼala, gbatịa onwe ya nʼihi obi ọjọọ. Ndị na-ejere ya ozi dọwakwara uwe ha nʼihi egwu na obi ọjọọ.
Then the king arose, and tore his garments, and lay upon the ground: and all his servants that were standing round him tore their garments.
32 Ma Jonadab, nwa Shimea, nwanne Devid, sịrị, “Onyenwe m, echekwala na e gburu ụmụ ndị ikom eze niile, kama ọ bụ naanị Amnọn! Nke a bụ ihe Absalọm jikere ime site mgbe Amnọn wakporo nwanne ya nwanyị bụ Tama, dina ya.
And Jonadab the son of Samaa brother of David, answered and said, Let not my Lord the king say that he has slain all the young men the sons of the king, for Amnon only of them all is dead; for he was appointed [to death] by the mouth of Abessalom from the day that he humbled his sister Themar.
33 Ma ugbu a, ka onyenwe m bụ eze ghara itinye akụkọ banyere ọnwụ ụmụ ndị ikom eze niile, nʼobi ya. Ọ bụ naanị Amnọn nwụrụ.”
And now let not my lord the king take the matter to heart, saying, All the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only of them is dead.
34 Ma Absalọm gbara ọsọ gbalaga. Ọ dịghị anya nwoke na-anọ nʼelu mgbidi Jerusalem na-eche nche, lepụrụ anya hụ ndị mmadụ ka ha si nʼụzọ dị nʼakụkụ ugwu nta na-abịa. Nwoke ahụ gara gwa eze sị ya, “Ahụrụ m ndị si nʼakụkụ Horonaim, nʼakụkụ ugwu na-abịa.”
And Abessalom escaped: and the young man the watchman, lifted up his eyes, and looked; and, behold, much people went in the way behind him from the side of the mountain in the descent: and the watchman came and told the king, and said, I have seen men by the way of Oronen, by the side of the mountain.
35 Jonadab gwara eze sị, “Lee, ọ bụ ụmụ ndị ikom eze na-alọta dịka m kwuru.”
And Jonadab said to the king, Behold, the king's sons are present: according to the word of your servant, so has it happened.
36 Mgbe ha lọbatara, ha bidoro ịkwa akwa nke ukwuu. Eze na ndị na-ejere ya ozi sokwa kwaa akwa.
And it came to pass when he had finished speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voices and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept with a very great weeping.
37 Absalọm gbara ọsọ gbakwuru Talmai nwa Amihud, eze Geshua. Ma eze Devid ruru ụjụ nke ukwuu maka ọnwụ Amnọn.
But Abessalom fled, and went to Tholmi son of Emiud the king of Gedsur to the land of Chamaachad: and king David mourned for his son continually.
38 Mgbe Absalọm gbara ọsọ gbaga Geshua, ọ nọrọ nʼebe ahụ afọ atọ.
So Abessalom fled, and departed to Gedsur, and was there three years.
39 Ọ gụrụ eze bụ Devid agụụ ịgakwuru Absalọm, nʼihi ọ kasịela obi maka ọnwụ Amnọn.
And king David ceased to go out after Abessalom, for he was comforted concerning Amnon, touching his death.
