< 2 Ndị Eze 6 >
1 Ụmụ ndị amụma gwara Ịlaisha okwu sị, “Lee, ebe a anyị bi nʼihu gị dị oke nta karịa.
And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell before thee is too strait for us.
2 Ya mere, ka anyị gaa nʼakụkụ Jọdan gbute osisi anyị ga-eji wuo ụlọ ebe anyị ga-ebi.” Ọ sịrị ha, “Meenụ ka unu kwuru.”
Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 Ma otu onye nʼime ha rịọrọ ya sị, “Biko, nna anyị ukwu, soronụ anyị.” O kwenyere na ọ ga-eso ha.
And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 O sonyekwara ha. Mgbe ha bịaruru nʼakụkụ Jọdan, ha malitere igbutu osisi.
So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 Ma mgbe otu nʼime ha nọ na-egbutu otu osisi, anyụike ya dabara nʼime mmiri. O tiri mkpu sị, “Ewoo, onyenwe m. Ọ bụkwanụ ihe a rịọtara arịọta.”
But as one was felling a beam, the axe-head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, my master! for it was borrowed.
6 Mgbe ahụ, onye nke Chineke jụrụ ya sị, “Ebee ka ọ dabara?” Mgbe o ziri ya ebe ọ dabara, Ịlaisha gbutere osisi tụba ya nʼebe ahụ, mee ka anyụike ahụ segolite na-erugharị nʼelu mmiri.
And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither, and made the iron to swim.
7 Ọ sịrị, “Tụtụlite ya.” O setịrị aka ya wepụta ya.
And he said, Take it up to thee. So he put out his hand, and took it.
8 Nʼoge a, eze ndị Aram na ndị Izrel nọ nʼagha. Mgbe ya na ndịisi agha ya kparịtachara, ọ sịrị, “Aga m eguzobe ọmụma ụlọ ikwu m nʼebe dị otu a na nʼebe dị otu a.”
Now the king of Syria warred against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
9 Ngwangwa, onye nke Chineke zigaara eze Izrel ozi sị, “Lezie anya, unu ejekwala nso nʼebe ahụ, nʼihi na eze Aram na ndị agha ya nọ nʼebe ahụ.”
And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are coming down.
10 Nʼihi nke a, eze Izrel mere nchọpụta banyere ebe ahụ onye nke Chineke gwara ya.
And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of; and he saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 Ihe ndị a mere ka iwe wee eze ndị Aram. Ọ kpọkọtara ndịisi ọrụ ya nye ha iwu sị, “Gwanụ m, onye nʼime anyị dịnyere eze Izrel?”
And the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 Otu onye nʼime ndị ọchịagha ya sịrị, “O nweghị onye ọbụla nʼime anyị, onyenwe m bụ eze. Ọ bụ Ịlaisha, onye amụma Izrel, bụ onye na-agwa eze Izrel okwu niile i na-ekwu nʼime ebe ndina gị.”
And one of his servants said, Nay, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
And he said, Go and see where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
14 Nʼihi ya, nʼotu anyasị eze Aram zigara ọtụtụ ndị agha ya, ndị ji ịnyịnya na ụgbọ agha gbaa obodo ahụ gburugburu.
Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15 Mgbe onye na-ejere onye nke Chineke ozi biliri ọtọ nʼisi ụtụtụ pụọ, ọ hụrụ ọtụtụ ndị agha na ịnyịnya na ụgbọala, ka ha gbara obodo ha nọ gburugburu. O tiri mkpu sị, “Ewoo, onyenwe m, gịnị ka anyị ga-eme ugbu a?”
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host with horses and chariots was round about the city. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 Ma Ịlaisha zara sị ya, “Atụla egwu, nʼihi na ndị nọnyere anyị dị ọtụtụ karịa ndị nọnyeere ha.”
And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 Mgbe ahụ, Ịlaisha kpere ekpere sị, “Onyenwe anyị, biko, saghee anya ya abụọ ka ọ hụ.” Onyenwe anyị meghere anya ohu Ịlaisha, mee ka ọ hụ ịnyịnya ọkụ, na ụgbọala ọkụ jupụtara nʼugwu dị gburugburu ebe ahụ niile.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
18 Mgbe ndị iro ahụ na-abịaru ya nso, Ịlaisha kpọkuru Onyenwe anyị nʼekpere sị, “Mee ka ìsì kpuo ndị agha niile.” O mekwara ka ìsì kpuo ha, dịka Ịlaisha rịọọrọ.
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
19 Ịlaisha pụtara sị ha, “Nke a abụghị ụzọ, nke a abụkwaghị obodo unu na-achọ. Soronụ m, ka m gosi unu nwoke unu na-achọ.” O duuru ha jee Sameria.
And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. And he led them to Samaria.
20 Mgbe ha bịaruru Sameria, Ịlaisha kpere ekpere sị, “Biko, Onyenwe anyị, ugbu a meghee anya ha, ka ha hụ ụzọ.” Onyenwe anyị meghere anya ha dịka Ịlaisha kpere nʼekpere; ha matakwara na ha nọ na Sameria.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
21 Mgbe eze Izrel hụrụ ha, ọ jụrụ Ịlaisha ajụjụ sị, “Nna m, ị chọrọ ka m gbuo ha?”
And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father; shall I smite them? shall I smite them?
22 Ịlaisha zara sị ya, “Egbula ha. Ị ga-egbu ndị i ji mma agha na ụta gị dọta nʼagha? Nye ha nri na mmiri, zilaga ha ka ha lakwuru onyenwe ha.”
And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
24 Ma mgbe ụfọdụ oge gasịrị, Ben-Hadad, eze Aram, chịkọtara ndị agha ya niile pụta bịa gbaa Sameria gburugburu.
And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.
25 Nʼihi nke a, oke ụnwụ dara nʼobodo Sameria. Nri kọrọ nʼala ahụ ruo na e bidoro ire otu isi ịnyịnya ibu iri shekel ọlaọcha asatọ. E rekwara nsị nduru shekel ise.
And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore [pieces] of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five [pieces] of silver.
26 Mgbe eze Izrel na-agafe nʼelu mgbidi gbara obodo ahụ gburugburu, otu nwanyị kpọkuru ya sị ya, “Nyere m aka, onyenwe m eze.”
And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.
27 Ma eze zara sị ya, “Ọ bụrụ na Onyenwe anyị ekweghị inyere gị aka, ebee ka m ga-esi nwetara gị inyeaka? Ọ bụ site nʼebe ịzọcha ọka? Ka ọ bụ nʼebe ịzọcha mmanya vaịnị?”
And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the threshing-floor, or out of the winepress?
28 Mgbe ahụ, eze jụrụ ya sị, “Gịnị na-eme?” Ọ zara, “Nwanyị a sịrị, ‘Nye nwa gị nwoke ka anyị rie ya taa, echi anyị ga-eri nwa m nwoke.’
And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.
29 Ya mere, na anyị siri nwa m rie ya. Nʼụbọchị nke so ya asịrị m ya, ‘Wepụta nwa gị nwoke ka anyị rie ya,’ ma o zoola ya.”
So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.
30 Mgbe eze nụrụ okwu nwanyị a, ọ dọwara uwe ya. Ma dịka ọ na-agabiga nʼelu mgbidi ahụ, ndị mmadụ lere anya hụ nʼokpuru uwe, akwa mkpe dị nʼime ahụ ya.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; (now he was passing by upon the wall; ) and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.
31 Ọ sịrị, “Ka Chineke mesoo m mmeso, otu ọbụla mmeso ahụ si dị njọ, ma ọ bụrụ na isi Ịlaisha nwa Shafat anọgide nʼahụ ya taa.”
Then he said, God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
But Elisha sat in his house; and the elders sat with him; and [the king] sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold the door fast against him: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; why should I wait for the LORD any longer?
