Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.
And he worked evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made.
3 Otu ọ dị, ọ nọgidere na mmehie Jeroboam nwa Nebat, onye mere ka Izrel baa nʼime mmehie ife arụsị. Joram esiteghị na ha wezuga onwe ya.
Nevertheless he joined to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
And Mesha king of Moab was a sheep master, and rendered to the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.
5 Ma mgbe Ehab eze Izrel nwụrụ, eze Moab nupuru isi megide eze Izrel, jụkwa ịnọ nʼokpuru ya ọzọ.
But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.
7 O zigara Jehoshafat eze Juda ozi sị ya, “Eze Moab enupula isi megide m. Ị ga-abịa soro m ịga buso ndị Moab agha?” Ọ zaghachiri, “Aga m eso gị gaa. Mụ na gị bụ otu, ndị m bụ ndị gị, ịnyịnya m bụkwa ịnyịnya gị.”
And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: will you go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as you are, my people as your people, and my horses as your horses.
8 “Ma olee ụzọ anyị ga-esi gaa ibu agha ahụ?” Joram zara, “Anyị ga-esi ụzọ ọzara Edọm.”
And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.
So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days’ journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.
10 Mgbe ahụ, eze Izrel tiri mkpu sị, “Gịnị ka anyị ga-eme? Ọ ga-abụ na Onyenwe anyị kpọpụtara anyị bụ eze atọ ndị a, nʼebe a, inyefe anyị nʼaka ndị Moab, ka ha merie anyị?”
And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!
11 Ma Jehoshafat, eze Juda, jụrụ ajụjụ sị, “Ọ bụ na o nweghị onye amụma Onyenwe anyị nọ nʼebe a, onye anyị ga-esi nʼaka ya jụta Onyenwe anyị ase, site na ya?” Otu onyeisi agha ndị Izrel sị ha, “Ịlaisha, nwa Shafat, onye jeere Ịlaịja ozi, nọ nʼebe a.”
But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may inquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.
And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
Eze Izrel zara sị ya, “Mba, nʼihi na ọ bụ Onyenwe anyị kpọpụtara anyị bụ eze atọ nʼebe a, ka o were anyị nyefee nʼaka ndị Moab.”
And Elisha said to the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? get you to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said to him, No: for the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
14 Ịlaisha sịrị, “Ebe Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile na-adị ndụ, bụ onye m na-efe, a si na ọ bụghị nsọpụrụ m nwere nʼebe Jehoshafat eze Juda nọ, agaraghị m atụpụrụ gị ọnụ maọbụ lee gị anya nʼihu.
And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.
15 Ma ugbu a, kpọtaranụ m onye na-akpọ ụbọ.” Mgbe ọkpọ ụbọ ahụ malitere ịkpọ ụbọ ya, aka Onyenwe anyị bịakwasịrị Ịlaisha.
But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came on him.
16 Ọ sịrị, “Ihe a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, aga m eme ka ndagwurugwu a jupụta nʼolulu mmiri.
And he said, Thus says the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.
17 Nʼihi na otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, Unu agaghị ahụ ifufe maọbụ mmiri ozuzo, ma ndagwurugwu a ga-ejupụta na mmiri, unu onwe unu ga-aṅụ, na ehi unu, na anụmanụ ndị ọzọ unu ga-aṅụkwa mmiri.
For thus says the LORD, You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that you may drink, both you, and your cattle, and your beasts.
18 Ma nke a bụ ihe dị nta nʼebe Onyenwe anyị nọ, nʼihi na ọ ga-enyefekwa ndị Moab nʼaka unu.
And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.
19 Unu ga-etigbu obodo ọbụla e wusiri ike, na obodo ukwu niile. Unu ga-egbudakwa ezi osisi ha na-amị mkpụrụ, kpọchie isi mmiri ha niile, werekwa nkume mebikwaa ezi ala ubi ha niile.”
And you shall smite every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.
20 O ruo, nʼụtụtụ, nʼoge e ji achụ aja nsure ọkụ ụtụtụ, lee na mmiri sitere ụzọ Edọm sọọrọ bịa nʼebe ahụ ha gwuru olulu na ndagwurugwu ala ahụ sọjuo ala ahụ niile.
And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armor, and upward, and stood in the border.
22 Mgbe chi bọrọ nʼisi ụtụtụ, anyanwụ wara mụkwasị mmiri ahụ. Site nʼebe ha nọ, ndị Moab lepụrụ anya hụ mmiri ahụ ka ọ na-acha ọbara ọbara.
And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:
23 Mgbe ahụ, ha sịrịtara onwe ha, “Leenụ ọbara! Ọ ga-abụ na ndị agha eze atọ ndị a etigbuola onwe ha. Pụtanụ, unu ndị Moab, ka anyị gaa kwakọrọ ihe nkwata na-agha!”
And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.
And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country.
25 Ha tidara obodo ndị Moab niile, tinye nkume nʼala ubi ọma ndị Moab niile. Ha kpọchiri isi mmiri niile, gbudasịakwa ezi osisi niile na-amị mkpụrụ nʼala ahụ. Nʼikpeazụ, ọ bụ naanị otu obodo ndị Moab fọdụrụ, isi obodo a na-akpọ Kia Hareset. Ndị ji ụdọ na-ama nkume gbara obodo a gburugburu, bido ibuso ya agha.
And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; however, the slingers went about it, and smote it.
26 Mgbe eze Moab hụrụ na agha ahụ anaghị agaziri ya nke ọma, ọ chịịrị narị ndị agha asaa, ndị ji mma agha ebu agha, gbalịa isi nʼetiti ndị agha Izrel tikapụta, na ncherita ihu ebe eze Edọm nọ, ma ha enweghị ike.
And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even to the king of Edom: but they could not.
27 Ya mere, o weere ọkpara ya, onye gaara abụ eze nʼọnọdụ ya, gbuo ya, dịka aja nʼelu mgbidi gbara obodo ahụ gburugburu nye chi Moab. Iwe dị ukwuu dị nʼụbọchị ahụ megide Izrel. Ha kwụsịrị ibu agha, laghachi nʼobodo nke aka ha.
Then he took his oldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
