1 Ya mere, ndị enyi m, ebe anyị nwere nkwa ndị a niile, ka anyị debe onwe anyị ọcha nʼime ihe niile ọbụla nke na-emerụ ahụ anyị na mmụọ anyị. Ka anyị mezuo ịdị nsọ nʼịtụ egwu Chineke.
Having therefore, my beloved, these promises, let us purify ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 Megheenụ obi unu nabata anyị, nʼihi na o nweghị onye ọbụla nʼetiti unu anyị mere ihe ọjọọ. O nwekwaghị onye anyị duhiere. Ọ dịkwaghị onye ọbụla anyị rigburu.
Receive us---we have injured no man, we have corrupted no one, we have over-reached no one.
3 Anaghị m ekwu ihe ndị a ka m maa unu ikpe, dịka m kwuburu na mbụ, na anyị bu unu nʼobi anyị, ịdịkọ ndụ, maọbụ ịnwụkọkwa ọnwụ nʼotu.
I speak not this to condemn you: for I said before that ye are so much in our hearts that we could live and die with you.
4 Nkwuwa okwu m ji gwa unu okwu dị ukwuu; ịnya isi m nʼihi unu dịkwa ukwuu. Abụ m onye a gbara ume nʼebe ọ dị ukwu, nʼime ọnọdụ ahụhụ anyị niile, ana m aṅụrịbiga ọṅụ oke.
I use much freedom of speech to you, and I boast much of you: I am filled with comfort, and superabound in joy above all our affliction.
For when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
6 Ma otu ọ dị, Chineke, onye na-agba ndị ike gwụrụ ume, gbara anyị ume site nʼọbịbịa Taịtọs.
But God, who comforteth those that are brought low, comforted us by the coming of Titus:
7 Ọ bụkwaghị naanị nʼihi na ọbịbịa ọ bịara nyere anyị obi ụtọ, kama akụkọ o ji bịa, gbasara otu unu si gbaa ya ume, gwakwa anyị otu unu si na-ele anya ịhụ m, na otu unu si na-eru ụjụ nʼihi ihe niile mere, na otu unu si guzosie ike nʼukwu m, na ụdị ịhụnanya unu nwere nʼebe m nọ, obi tọrọ m ụtọ nke ukwuu.
and not only by his coming, but especially by the consolation wherewith he was comforted on your account, acquainting us with your earnest desire towards us, your grief, and your zeal for me; so that I rejoiced greatly.
For though I grieved you by my letter, I do not repent, though I did repent; for I perceive that that epistle grieved you, though it was but for a little while.
However, now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance; for ye were grieved after a godly manner, so that ye received no damage from us.
10 Nʼihi na iru ụjụ otu Chineke chọrọ na-eweta nchegharị nke na-eduba mmadụ na nzọpụta, bụ nchegharị nke a na-apụghị ịkwa ụta banyere ya.
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Unu egosila na aka unu dị ọcha nʼokwu ndị a niile.
For behold this very thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly manner, what diligence it wrought in you! yea, what apology, what indignation, what fear, what earnest desire, what zeal, what revenge! by all which ye have shewn yourselves to be clear in the affair.
12 Ọ bụ ezie na m deere unu akwụkwọ ahụ, ma edeghị m ya nʼihi onye ahụ mehiere, maọbụ nʼihi onye ahụ e mehiere megide. Kama edere m ya ime ka Chineke gosi unu otu ihe gbasara anyị si na-anụ unu ọkụ nʼobi.
Wherefore if I wrote in such a manner to you, it was not merely on his account who had done the wrong, nor for his sake who had been injured; but that our care for you in the sight of God might be manifested among you.
13 Nʼụzọ niile ndị a, anyị bụ ndị a gbara ume site nʼịhụnanya unu nwere nʼebe anyị nọ. A gbara anyị ume karịa site na ịhụ ọṅụ Taịtọs nʼihi nnabata unu nabatara, na otu unu si mee ka mmụọ ya zuru ike mgbe ọ bịakwutere unu.
We were therefore comforted by your consolation; and rejoiced the more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all;
14 Nʼihi na tupu ọ hapụ anyị bịakwute unu, anyara m isi nʼihu ya banyere unu; ugbu a, obi dị m ụtọ nke ukwuu nʼihi na unu emeghị ka ihere mee m. Anyị ekwuola eziokwu nye unu. Ugbu a, ịnya isi m nʼebe Taịtọs nọ egosila na anyị bụ ndị eziokwu.
and because if I boasted of any thing to him concerning you, I was not ashamed; but as we have spoken all things to you in truth, so likewise our boasting of you to Titus was truth.
15 Ugbu a, ịhụnanya o nwere nʼebe unu nọ na-aba ụba nke ukwuu, nʼihi ncheta ọ na-echeta otu unu niile si jiri ọṅụ gee ya ntị na otu unu si jiri ịtụ egwu na ahụ ịma jijiji nabata ya.
And his bowels are exceedingly moved towards you, when he calls to mind the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.
16 Nke a na-enyekwa m obi ụtọ nʼihi na enwere m ntụkwasị obi nʼebe unu nọ nʼime ihe niile.
I rejoice therefore that in every thing I have confidence in you.
