1 Mgbe Jehoshafat, eze Juda, laghachiri nʼụlọ ya na Jerusalem nʼudo.
And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace, to Jerusalem.
2 Jehu nwa Hanani, onye ọhụ ọhụ, pụrụ gaa izute ya; ọ sịrị eze Jehoshafat, “O kwesiri ka i nyere onye ọjọọ aka? Ọ bụkwa ndị na-akpọ Onyenwe anyị asị ka ị na-ahụ nʼanya? Nʼihi nke a iwe ọkụ Onyenwe anyị adakwasịla gị.
And there came out to meet him Jehu the son of Chanani the seer, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldst thou help the wicked, and love those that hate the Lord? and because of this there is wrath over thee from before the Lord.
3 Ma otu ọ dị, achọtara ezi ihe nʼime gị, i sitela nʼala a wezuga ogidi Ashera niile, dozieekwa obi gị ịchọ Chineke.”
Nevertheless there are good things found on thee; because thou hast removed the Asheroth out of the land, and hast directed thy heart firmly to seek God.
4 Jehoshafat biri na Jerusalem. Ọ pụrụ gagharịa nʼetiti ndị ya site na Bịasheba ruo nʼobodo ugwu ugwu Ifrem, laghachikwutekwa Onyenwe anyị, bụ Chineke nke nna nna ha.
And Jehoshaphat remained at Jerusalem; but he went out again through the people from Beer-sheba' as far as the mountain of Ephraim, and caused them to return unto the Lord the God of their fathers.
5 Ọ họpụtara ndị ikpe nʼala ahụ, nʼotu nʼotu nʼobodo ndị ahụ niile e wusiri ike nke Juda.
And he appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, in city by city.
6 Ọ gwara ha si, “Lezienụ anya ihe unu na-eme nʼihi na ọ bụghị mmadụ ka unu na-ekpere ikpe kama ọ bụ Onyenwe anyị, onye na-anọnyere unu mgbe unu na-ekpebi ikpe.
And he said to the judges, Look [well] at what ye are doing; because not for man are ye to judge, but for the Lord, who is with you in pronouncing judgment.
7 Ugbu a, kwenụ ka egwu Onyenwe anyị dịrị nʼime unu. Kpeenụ ikpe ziri ezi, nʼihi na nʼebe Onyenwe anyị Chineke anyị nọ, ikpe ikpe na-ezighị ezi, maọbụ ile mmadụ anya nʼihu maọbụ iri ngarị adịghị ya.”
And now let the dread of the Lord be upon you: take heed and act; for with the Lord our God there is no injustice, nor respect for persons, nor taking of bribes.
8 Ọzọkwa, nʼime Jerusalem, Jehoshafat họpụtara ụfọdụ ndị Livayị, na ndị nchụaja, na ndịisi ezinaụlọ Izrel ka ha bụrụ ndị na-ahazi iwu nke Onyenwe anyị na-edozikwa esemokwu. Ha bikwa na Jerusalem.
But also in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat appoint some of the Levites, and the priests, and of the chiefs of the family divisions of Israel, for the [giving of] the judgment of the Lord, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.
9 O nyere ha iwu ndị a, “Jirinụ ikwesi ntụkwasị obi, na ịtụ egwu Onyenwe anyị rụọ ọrụ unu.
And he charged on them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the Lord, in faithfulness, and with an undivided heart.
And whatsoever controversy may come to you from your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, ye shall truly warn them that they incur not guilt against the Lord, and so there come wrath over you, and over your brethren: so must ye do, and ye will not incur guilt.
11 “Amaraya, onyeisi nchụaja, ga-abụ onyeisi unu nʼihe ọbụla metụtara Onyenwe anyị. Zebadaya nwa nwoke Ishmel, onyeisi nke ebo Juda ga-abụ onyeisi unu nʼihe o bụla metụtara eze. Ndị Livayị ga-abụ ndịisi ozi nʼihu unu. Bụrụkwanụ ndị dị ike, unu atụkwala ụjọ, ka Onyenwe anyị nọnyere ndị na-eme nke ọma.”
And, behold, Amaryahu the chief priest is over you for every matter of the Lord; and Zebadyahu the son of Yishma'el, the ruler for the house of Judah, for every matter of the king; and the Levites are officers before you. Be strong and act, and may the Lord be with the good.
