1 Devid chere nʼime onwe ya sị, “Otu ụbọchị Sọl ga-enweta m, bibie m. Ihe ka mma m ga-eme bụ ịgbaga nʼala ndị Filistia. Nke a ga-eme ka Sọl kwụsị ịchọgharị m ebe ọbụla nʼIzrel. Aga m esikwa otu a, nwere onwe m site nʼaka ya.”
And Dauid said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: is it not better for me that I saue my selfe in the lande of the Philistims, and that Saul may haue no hope of me to seeke me any more in all the coastes of Israel, and so escape out of his hand?
2 Ya mere, Devid na narị ndị ikom isii ya, na ezinaụlọ ha, biliri jekwuru Akish nwa Maok, eze ndị Gat.
Dauid therefore arose, and he, and the sixe hundreth men that were with him, went vnto Achish the sonne of Maoch King of Gath.
3 Devid na ndị agha ya sooro Akish biri na Gat. Onye ọbụla du ezinaụlọ ya. Devid nʼonwe ya du ndị inyom abụọ ya: Ahinoam onye Jezril, na Abigel onye Kamel, nwunye ochie Nebal.
And Dauid dwelt with Achish at Gath, he, and his men, euery man with his housholde, Dauid with his two wiues, Ahinoam the Izreelite, and Abigail Nabals wife the Carmelite.
4 Ọ dịghị anya, Sọl nụrụ na Devid agbalaala Gat, nʼihi ya ọ kwụsịrị ịchụso ya.
And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was fled to Gath: so he sought no more for him.
5 Devid gwara Akish sị ya, “Ọ bụrụ na m anatala amara nʼebe ị nọ, ọ ga-adị mma ka enye m otu obodo nʼime obodo nke ala a, ka m biri. Nʼihi gịnị ka ohu gị ga-eji soro gị biri nʼobodo eze?”
And Dauid saide vnto Achish, If I haue nowe founde peace in thine eyes, let them giue me a place in some other citie of the countrey, that I may dwell there: for why should thy seruant dwel in ye head citie of the kingdome with thee?
6 Akish nyere ya Ziklag, nʼihi ya, Ziklag bụ obodo ndị eze Juda ruo taa.
Then Achish gaue him Ziklag that same day: therefore Ziklag pertaineth vnto the kings of Iudah vnto this day.
7 Devid biri nʼoke ala ndị Filistia otu afọ na ọnwa anọ.
And the time that Dauid dwelt in the countrey of the Philistims, was foure moneths and certaine dayes.
8 Devid na ndị ikom ya nọgidere oge ahụ niile na-emegide ndị Geshua, ndị Gizi na ndị Amalek. (Site na mgbe ochie ndị a bi nʼala ahụ gbatịrị ruo Shua na Ijipt)
Then Dauid and his men went vp, and inuaded the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites: for they inhabited the lande from the beginning, from the way, as thou goest to Shur, euen vnto the lande of Egypt.
9 Mgbe ọbụla Devid wakporo akụkụ ọbụla, ọ dịghị ahapụ nwoke maọbụ nwanyị ndụ. Ma ọ na-akpụrụ atụrụ ha, na ehi ha, na ịnyịnya ibu ha, na ịnyịnya kamel ha, nakwa uwe ha. Emesịa, ọ na-alọghachikwuru Akish.
And Dauid smote the lande, and left neither man nor woman aliue, and tooke sheepe, and oxen, and asses, and camels, and apparell, and returned and came to Achish.
10 Ọ bụrụ na Akish ajụọ Devid ajụjụ sị, “Ndị ole ka unu busoro agha taa?” Devid ga-aza sị, “Ọ bụ ndị bi na ndịda Juda”, maọbụ “ndị ndịda Jerahmel”, maọbụ “ndị ndịda Ken.”
And Achish said, Where haue ye bene a rouing this day? And Dauid answered, Against the South of Iudah, and against the South of the Ierahmeelites, and against the South of ye Kenites.
11 Ma ọ dịghị nwoke maọbụ nwanyị onye ọ hapụrụ ndụ, nke a ga-akpọta na Gat, nʼihi na o chere nʼobi ya sị, “Ha nwere ike ịbịa kwuo megide anyị, sị, ‘Otu a ka Devid mere.’” Otu a ka ọ na-emekwa ọtụtụ oge ahụ niile o bi nʼetiti ndị Filistia.
And Dauid saued neither man nor woman aliue, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest they should tel on vs, and say, So did Dauid, and so will be his maner all the while that he dwelleth in the countrey of the Philistims.
12 Akish kwenyere Devid, kwuo nʼobi ya sị, “Devid abụrụla ihe a kpọrọ asị nʼebe ndị nke ya bụ ndị Izrel nọ. Ọ ga-abụkwara m ohu ruo mgbe niile.”
And Achish beleeued Dauid, saying, He hath made his people of Israel vtterly to abhorre him: therefore he shalbe my seruant for euer.
