< 1 Samuel 25 >

And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
2 Otu nwoke dị, onye obodo Maon, onye ikwu Kaleb, nke nwere akụnụba. O nwere igwe atụrụ dị puku atọ, na otu puku ewu, ndị ọ nọ nʼubi nʼoge a na-akpụchapụ ajị ha nʼobodo Kamel.
And [there was] a man in Maon, whose possessions [were] in Carmel; and the man [was] very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
3 Aha nwoke a bụ Nebal. Nwoke a nwere omume ọjọọ; ọ kwara obi nʼazụ, afọ takwara ya mmiri.
Now the name of the man [was] Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and [she was] a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man [was] churlish and evil in his doings; and he [was] of the house of Caleb.
And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep.
5 o zipụrụ ndị ikom iri sị ha. “Jekwurunụ Nebal nʼobodo Kamel, jụọ ya otu ihe si aga nʼaha m.
And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:
6 Sịnụ ya, ndụ gị, ndụ ogologo, udo na ahụ ike nye gị na ezinaụlọ gị, udo na ahụ ike nye ihe niile i nwere.
And thus shall ye say to him that liveth [in prosperity], Peace [be] both to thee, and peace [be] to thine house, and peace [be] unto all that thou hast.
7 “‘Anụla m na ị na-akpacha ajị igwe ewu na atụrụ gị. Oge ndị ọzụzụ atụrụ gị nọ nʼetiti anyị, anyị emejọghị ha, o nweghị ihe ọbụla funarịrị ha oge ahụ niile ha nọrọ nʼobodo Kamel.
And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.
8 Jụọkwa ndị ikom gị, ha ga-agwa gị ma ihe m kwuru ọ bụ eziokwu. Ya mere gosi ụmụ okorobịa ndị a ihuọma, ebe ọ bụ na ha na-abịakwute gị nʼoge mmemme. Biko, nyetụ ndị ohu gị ndị a, na mụ bụ Devid nwa gị, ihe ọbụla aka gị ruru.’”
Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.
9 Ụmụ okorobịa Devid zipụrụ bịarutere zie Nebal ozi Devid ziri ha. Ha nọgidekwara chere ka onye ha ọsịsa.
And when David’s young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.
Onye bụkwa nwa Jesi a? Ọtụtụ ndị ohu dị taa bụ ndị na-esi nʼaka nna ha ukwu na-agbapụ.
And Nabal answered David’s servants, and said, Who [is] David? and who [is] the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.
11 M ga-ewere achịcha m, na mmiri m, na anụ m gburu nʼihi ndị na-akpachara m ajị anụ nye ndị m na-amaghị ebe ha sị pụta?”
Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give [it] unto men, whom I know not whence they [be]?
So David’s young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.
13 Devid sịrị ndị ikom ya, “Onye ọbụla nyara mma agha!” Ha mere ihe o kwuru. Devid nʼonwe ya nyanyekwara mma agha nke ya. Ihe dị ka narị ndị ikom anọ sooro Devid pụọ, ebe narị mmadụ abụọ ndị ọzọ nọdụrụ na-eche ụlọ ha nche.
And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.
14 Ma otu nʼime ndị ikom Nebal gara kọọrọ Abigel, nwunye Nebal sị ya, “Lee, Devid esitela nʼọzara zite ndị ozi ka ha nye onyenwe anyị ekele ya, ma ọ kparịrị ha, baakwara ha mba.
But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.
But the men [were] very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:
16 Ehihie na abalị, ha bụụrụ anyị mgbidi, ichebe anyị na atụrụ anyị, mgbe ha na-akpa nri nʼakụkụ ebe ha nọ.
They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.
Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he [is such] a son of Belial, that [a man] cannot speak to him.
18 Abigel mere ngwangwa chịkọta narị ogbe achịcha abụọ, karama akpụkpọ mmanya abụọ, atụrụ ise e doziri edozi, otu bushel ọka e ghere eghe, otu narị ụyọkọ mkpụrụ vaịnị a mịkpọrọ amịkpọ na narị achịcha fiig abụọ, bukwasị ihe ndị a niile nʼelu ịnyịnya ibu.
Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched [corn], and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid [them] on asses.
19 Ọ sịrị ụmụ okorobịa na-ejere ya ozi, “Na-aganụ nʼihu, ana m abịa nʼazụ.” Ma ọ gwaghị di ya Nebal ihe ọ na-aga ime.
And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal.
20 Mgbe ọ nọ nʼelu ịnyịnya ibu na-agbada ụzọ nke ugwu ahụ ọ hụrụ Devid na ndị agha ya ka ha na-abịa. O zutere ha
And it was [so, as] she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.
21 ma Devid nọrịị na-ekwu na-asị, “Ọ bụ nʼefu ka anyị nyeere nwoke a aka. Anyị chebere igwe ewu na atụrụ ya nʼọzara; ọ dịkwaghị otu furu efu, ọ dịkwaghị otu nke e zuru ezu, ma o jirila ajọ omume kwụghachi m ihe ọma m meere ya.
Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this [fellow] hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that [pertained] unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
22 Ka Chineke mesoo Devid mmeso, otu ọbụla mmeso ahụ si dị njọ, ma ọ bụrụ na m ahapụ otu mkpụrụ nwoke ndụ nʼetiti ihe niile o nwere na-eku ume, mgbe chi echi bọrọ.”
So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that [pertain] to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
23 Mgbe Abigel hụrụ Devid, o mere ngwangwa si nʼelu ịnyịnya ibu ya rịda, kpuo ihu nʼala, kpọọ isiala nye Devid.
And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground,
24 Ọ dara nʼala nʼụkwụ ya, sị, “Ka ajọ omume ahụ dịkwasị nʼisi ohu gị, onyenwe m. Biko, kwere ka ohu gị gwa gị okwu, gekwaa ntị nʼihe ohu gị nwere ikwu.
And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, [upon] me [let this] iniquity [be: ] and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid.
25 Nebal bụ nwoke nwere obi ọjọọ, biko ka onyenwe m ghara ịgụ ihe ọbụla o kwuru nʼihe. Ọ bụ onye nzuzu, dịka aha ya na-egosi. Aha ya pụtara nzuzu, nzuzu na-esokwa ya. Ma ahụghị m ndị ozi ahụ i zitere, nʼezie ohu gị ahụghị ndị ikom onyenwe m zitere.
Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, [even] Nabal: for as his name [is], so [is] he; Nabal [is] his name, and folly [is] with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.
26 Ugbu a, onyenwe m, dịka Onyenwe anyị na-adị ndụ ma gị onwe gị na-adịkwa ndụ, ebe ọ bụ na Onyenwe anyị gbochiri gị ka ị ghara ịba nʼikpe ọmụma nke igbu mmadụ, na iji aka gị bọrọ onwe gị ọbọ, ka ndụ ndị iro gị na ndị niile na-achọ ime onyenwe m ihe ọjọọ, dịka Nebal.
Now therefore, my lord, [as] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to [shed] blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
27 Ma kwerekwa ka onyinye a, nke ohu gị nwanyị wetaara nna m ukwu, bụrụ nke a ga-enye ndị ikom na-eso gị.
And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.
28 “Biko, gbaghara njehie ohu gị nwanyị, nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị aghaghị imere onyenwe m alaeze nke ga-adịgide, nʼihi na ọ bụ agha Onyenwe anyị ka ị na-alụ, agaghị ahụta ajọ omume nʼime gị ogologo ụbọchị ndụ gị niile.
I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee [all] thy days.
29 Ọ bụ ezie na mmadụ pụrụ ị na-achụ gị ịnapụ gị ndụ gị, ma ndụ onyenwe m ga-abụ ihe Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị ga-ekechi na ngwungwu ndị dị ndụ. Ma ndụ ndị iro gị ka ọ ga-atụfu dịka nkume esi nʼakpa e ji efe ebe.
Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, [as out] of the middle of a sling.
30 Mgbe Onyenwe anyị mezuru nye onyenwe m ihe ọma niile nke o kwere na nkwa, meekwa ya onyendu ndị Izrel,
And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;
That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.
32 Devid zara Abigel sị ya, “Otuto dịrị Onyenwe anyị, Chineke nke Izrel onye zitere gị taa ka ị bịa zute m.
And David said to Abigail, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:
33 Ka ngọzị dịrị gị nʼihi ezi uche gị, na nʼihi na i gbochiri m iwufu ọbara taa, gbochiekwa m iji aka m bọrọ onwe m ọbọ.
And blessed [be] thy advice, and blessed [be] thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to [shed] blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.
34 Ma ọ bụghị otu a, dịka Onyenwe anyị Chineke nke Izrel na-adị ndụ, bụ onye jidere m site nʼimerụ gị ahụ, ọ bụrụ na ị pụtaghị ngwa izute m, ọ dịghị otu nwoke gaara adị ndụ nʼụlọ Nebal nʼìhè ụtụtụ echi.”
For in very deed, [as] the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
35 Devid naara ya ihe ndị ahụ niile o wetara sị ya, “Laghachi nʼụlọ gị nʼudo. Anụla m ihe i kwuru ma meekwa ihe ị rịọrọ.”
So David received of her hand [that] which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.
36 Mgbe Abigel batara nʼụlọ, o jekwuru Nebal ebe ọ nọ nʼoriri ọ kpọrọ, oriri dịka oriri a na-enwe nʼụlọeze. Ọ ṅụọkwala mmanya ṅụbigakwa ya oke; nʼihi ya ọ gwaghị ya ihe ọbụla tutu ruo nʼụtụtụ.
And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal’s heart [was] merry within him, for he [was] very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.
37 Nʼụtụtụ, mgbe mmanya pụrụ Nebal nʼanya, nwunye ya gwara ya ihe ndị a niile. Nke a mere ka obi ya nwụọ, ka ọ tọgbọrọ dịka nkume.
But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became [as] a stone.
38 Mgbe abalị iri gafere, Onyenwe anyị tiri Nebal ihe otiti, nke mere ka ọ nwụọ.
And it came to pass about ten days [after], that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.
39 Mgbe Devid nụrụ na Nebal anwụọla, ọ sịrị, “Otuto dịrị Onyenwe anyị, onye kpechitere m okwu m megide Nebal nʼihi nlelị anya o leliri m. O gbochiela ohu ya site nʼime ihe ezighị ezi, ma kwụghachi Nebal ụgwọ mmehie ya.” Mgbe ahụ Devid zigara ndị ozi ka ha gaa jụọ Abigel ma ọ ga-ekwe ị ghọọ nwunye ya.
And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed [be] the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
40 Ndị ozi Devid bịakwutere Abigel na Kamel zie ya ozi sị, “Devid zitere anyị bịakwute gị ịlụta gị ka ị ghọọ nwunye ya.”
And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake unto her, saying, David sent us unto thee, to take thee to him to wife.
41 Abigel kpuru ihu nʼala sị ya, “Lee ohu gị nwanyị, ejikeere m ijere gị ozi, na ịsacha ụkwụ ndị na-ejere onyenwe m ozi.”
And she arose, and bowed herself on [her] face to the earth, and said, Behold, [let] thine handmaid [be] a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.
42 Abigel mere ngwangwa jikere, kpọrọ ụmụ agbọghọ ise na-ejere ya ozi, nọkwasị nʼelu ịnyịnya ibu, soro ndị ahụ Devid zitere lakwuru Devid. Otu a ka Abigel sị ghọọ nwunye Devid.
And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.
43 Devid lụkwara nwanyị ọzọ aha ya bụ Ahinoam, onye Jezril. Ha abụọ bụkwa ndị nwunye ya.
David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.
44 Nʼoge a, Sọl ewerela nwa ya nwanyị Mikal, onye bụ nwunye Devid kpọnye Palti, nwa Laish, onye obodo Galim, dịka nwunye.
But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which [was] of Gallim.
