< 1 Samuel 2 >
1 Mgbe ahụ Hana kpere ekpere sị: “Obi m na-aṅụrị ọṅụ nʼime Onyenwe anyị; nʼime Onyenwe anyị ka e buliri mpi m elu. Ọnụ m na-anya isi megide ndị iro m, nʼihi na-enwere m mmasị na nzọpụta gị.
Hannah prayed, and said, “My heart exults in the LORD! My horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.
2 “O nweghị onye dị nsọ dịka Onyenwe anyị; o nweghị onye dị karịa gị, o nweghị nkume ọzọ yiri Chineke anyị.
There is no one as holy as the LORD, for there is no one besides you, nor is there any rock like our God.
“Don’t keep talking so exceedingly proudly. Don’t let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the LORD is a God of knowledge. By him actions are weighed.
4 “Ụta ndị na-ebu agha agbajiela ma ndị ahụ dara mba ka e nyere ike.
“The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength.
5 Ndị na-eriju afọ e meela onwe ha ndị ọrụ ngo maka nri, ma ndị na-adịghị eriju afọ na mbụ aghọọla ndị agụụ adịghị agụkwa. Nwanyị aga amụtala ụmụ asaa ma nwanyị ahụ mụrụ ọtụtụ ụmụ adịghị amụtakwa.
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread. Those who were hungry are satisfied. Yes, the barren has borne seven. She who has many children languishes.
6 “Onyenwe anyị na-eweta ọnwụ, ya na-emekwa ka a dị ndụ, ọ bụ ya na-eme ka mmadụ daa nʼụra ọnwụ, na-emekwa ka ha dị ndụ ọzọ. (Sheol )
“The LORD kills and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol and brings up. (Sheol )
The LORD makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up.
8 Ọ na-esite na ntụ welite onye ogbenye na-ebuli ndị mkpa na-akpa site nʼikpo ntụ. Ọ na-eme ka ha soro ụmụ eze nọdụ, na-emekwa ka ha keta ocheeze nsọpụrụ. “Nʼihi na ntọala ụwa bụ nke Onyenwe anyị nʼelu ya ka ọ dọkwasịrị ụwa.
He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill to make them sit with princes and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s. He has set the world on them.
He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness; for no man will prevail by strength.
10 Ndị ahụ na-ebuli onwe ha imegide Onyenwe anyị ka a ga-etipịa. Onye kachasị ihe niile elu ga-ebigbọ site nʼeluigwe megide ha. Onyenwe anyị ga-ekpe nsọtụ niile nke ụwa ikpe. “Ọ ga-enye eze ya ike bulikwaa ịdị ike nke onye ya e tere mmanụ.”
Those who strive with the LORD shall be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them in the sky. “The LORD will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
11 Mgbe ahụ, Elkena na Hana laghachiri Rema, ma ha hapụrụ Samuel nʼebe ahụ. Nwata ahụ ghọrọ onyeozi Onyenwe anyị, nʼihi na ọ nọ na-enyere Elayị onye nchụaja aka.
Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. The child served the LORD before Eli the priest.
Now the sons of Eli were wicked men. They didn’t know the LORD.
13 Dịka mmeso ndị nchụaja nʼebe ndị mmadụ si dị: mgbe onye ọbụla bịara ịchụ aja, onyeozi onye nchụaja na-abịa mgbe a na-esi anụ, jiri ndụdụ nwere eze atọ nʼaka ya.
The custom of the priests with the people was that when anyone offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant came while the meat was boiling, with a fork of three teeth in his hand;
and he stabbed it into the pan, or kettle, or cauldron, or pot. The priest took all that the fork brought up for himself. They did this to all the Israelites who came there to Shiloh.
15 Mgbe ụfọdụ, tupu e suree abụba anụ nʼebe ịchụ aja, ndị ozi onye nchụaja na-abịa gwa onye wetara anụ ịchụ aja sị ya, “Nye onye nchụaja anụ ndụ nke ọ ga-ahụ nʼọkụ, nʼihi na ọ chọghị iri anụ e siri esi, kama anụ ndụ ka ọ chọrọ.”
Yes, before they burnt the fat, the priest’s servant came, and said to the man who sacrificed, “Give meat to roast for the priest; for he will not accept boiled meat from you, but raw.”
16 Ọ bụrụ na onye ji anụ ahụ bịa ịchụ aja agwa onyeozi ahụ okwu sị, “Chere ka anyị buru ụzọ suo abụba ndị a ọkụ tupu i were ihe ị chọrọ,” onyeozi ahụ na-aza sị, “Nye m anụ ahụ ugbu a, ọ bụrụ na i nyeghị m ya aga m eji ike were ya.”
If the man said to him, “Let the fat be burnt first, and then take as much as your soul desires;” then he would say, “No, but you shall give it to me now; and if not, I will take it by force.”
17 Mmehie ụmụ okorobịa ndị a na-eme dị ukwuu nʼanya Onyenwe anyị, nʼihi na ha na-eleda onyinye a na-ewetara Onyenwe anyị anya.
The sin of the young men was very great before the LORD; for the men despised the LORD’s offering.
18 Nʼoge a, Samuel na-agakwa ozi ya nʼihu Onyenwe anyị. Ọ bụ ezie na ọ bụ naanị nwantakịrị, ọ na-eyi akwa ọcha efọọd dịka ndị nchụaja.
But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, clothed with a linen ephod.
Moreover his mother made him a little robe, and brought it to him from year to year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
20 Tupu ha alaa, Elayị na-agọzi Elkena na Hana sị, “Ka Onyenwe anyị nye gị ụmụ ọzọ, ndị ga-anọchi anya onye a ị rịọrọ maka ya, nke i nyeghachiri Onyenwe anyị.”
Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, “May The LORD give you offspring from this woman for the petition which was asked of the LORD.” Then they went to their own home.
21 Onyenwe anyị gosiri Hana amara. Ọ tụrụ ime mụta ụmụ ndị ikom atọ, na ụmụ ndị inyom abụọ. Ma Samuel tokwara nʼije ozi ya nʼihu Onyenwe anyị.
The LORD visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before the LORD.
22 Nʼoge a, Elayị abụrụla nnọọ agadi. Ọ nọkwa na-anụ ihe ọjọọ niile ụmụ ya ndị ikom na-eme ndị Izrel niile, ya na otu ha si edinakwuru ụmụ nwanyị na-eje ozi nʼọnụ ụzọ ebe ịchụ aja ụlọ nzute.
Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did to all Israel, and how that they slept with the women who served at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
23 Ya mere, Elayị gwara ụmụ ya sị, “Anụla m site nʼọnụ ndị Onyenwe anyị, banyere ihe ọjọọ niile dị iche iche unu na-eme. Gịnị mere unu ji na-eme ihe ọjọọ dị otu a?
He said to them, “Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all these people.
24 Ọ bụghị akụkọ ọma ka m na-anụ site nʼọnụ ndị Onyenwe anyị banyere unu.
No, my sons; for it is not a good report that I hear! You make the LORD’s people disobey.
If one man sins against another, God will judge him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who will intercede for him?” Notwithstanding, they didn’t listen to the voice of their father, because the LORD intended to kill them.
26 Nwata ahụ bụ Samuel na-eto, na-agba dimkpa, bụrụkwa onye ihe ya dị Onyenwe anyị na mmadụ mma.
The child Samuel grew on, and increased in favour both with the LORD and also with men.
27 Otu onye nke Chineke bịara gwa Elayị okwu sị ya, “Ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru: Ọ bụ na m ezipụtaghị ike m nʼụzọ pụtara ihe mgbe nna nna gị ha bụ ohu nʼala Ijipt nʼokpuru Fero?
A man of God came to Eli and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Did I reveal myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh’s house?
28 Ahọpụtara m nna nna unu ochie site nʼetiti ebo niile nke Izrel mee ya ka ọ bụrụ onye nchụaja m, ka ọ chụọ aja nʼebe ịchụ aja m, isure ihe nsure ọkụ na-esi isi ụtọ, na iyi uwe efọọd ndị nchụaja nʼihu m. Enyere m ezinaụlọ nna nna gị onyinye niile Izrel ji chụọ aja nsure ọkụ.
Didn’t I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? Didn’t I give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire?
29 Gịnị mere unu ji na-elelị aja a na-achụrụ m, na onyinye a na-ewetara m nʼusoro dịka m si nye ya nʼiwu anya? Gịnị mere i ji na-asọpụrụ ụmụ gị karịa m, ime onwe unu ka unu gbaa abụba site nʼidebere onwe unu akụkụ kachasị mma nke onyinye niile ụmụ Izrel, ndị m, na-ewetara m.
Why do you kick at my sacrifice and at my offering, which I have commanded in my habitation, and honour your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel my people?’
30 “Nʼihi ya, otu a ka Onyenwe anyị, Chineke Izrel, kwupụtara, sị, ‘Ekwere m nkwa na ndị ezinaụlọ gị na nke nna gị ga-eje ozi nʼihu m ruo mgbe ebighị ebi,’ ma ugbu a, otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwubiri ya, ‘Ọ gaghị adịkwa otu a nʼebe m nọ! Nʼihi na ndị na-asọpụrụ m ka m ga-asọpụrụ, ma ndị niile na-eleda m anya, ka a ga-akpọ ihe efu.
“Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father should walk before me forever.’ But now the LORD says, ‘Far be it from me; for those who honour me I will honour, and those who despise me will be cursed.
31 Oge na-abịa mgbe m ga-ebipụ ike gị na ike ezinaụlọ nna gị, wezuga ha ka nwoke ọbụla nʼezinaụlọ gị hapụ ito ghọọ agadi.
Behold, the days come that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father’s house, that there will not be an old man in your house.
32 Ị ga-ahụ mkpagbu nʼebe obibi m; a ga-emere Izrel ihe ọma nke ga-eme ka i nwee anya ụfụ, ma ọ dịghị onye ga-eme agadi nʼezinaụlọ gị.
You will see the affliction of my habitation, in all the wealth which I will give Israel. There shall not be an old man in your house forever.
33 Onye ọbụla nʼime unu nke m na-ebipụghị site nʼebe ịchụ aja m ga-adị ndụ naanị nʼọnọdụ anya mmiri akwa nke ga-ekpuchi ya anya, na iru ụjụ nke obi. Ụmụ ụmụ gị niile ga-anwụ tupu ha eruo agadi.
The man of yours whom I don’t cut off from my altar will consume your eyes and grieve your heart. All the increase of your house will die in the flower of their age.
34 “‘Ihe ga-adakwasị ụmụ gị ndị ikom, bụ Hofni na Finehaz, ga-abụrụ gị ihe ama. Ha abụọ ga-anwụ nʼotu ụbọchị.
This will be the sign to you that will come on your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they will both die.
O ga-eje ozi nʼihu Onye m e tere mmanụ oge niile.
I will raise up a faithful priest for myself who will do according to that which is in my heart and in my mind. I will build him a sure house. He will walk before my anointed forever.
It will happen that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and will say, “Please put me into one of the priests’ offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.”’”
