< 1 Samuel 15 >

1 Samuel sịrị Sọl, “Mụ ka Onyenwe anyị zitere ite gị mmanụ ka ị bụrụ eze ndị ya, bụ Izrel. Ya mere, gee ntị nʼozi sitere nʼaka Onyenwe anyị bịa.
Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint you to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken you unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
2 Ihe a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwuru. ‘Aga m ata ndị Amalek ahụhụ nʼihi ihe ọjọọ niile ha mere Izrel, mgbe ha nọchiri ha nʼụzọ oge ha si Ijipt pụta.
Thus says the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
3 Ugbu a, gaa buso ndị Amalek agha. Gbuchapụ ihe niile ha nwere. Enwekwala ọmịiko nʼahụ ha. Gbuo ndị ikom niile, ndị inyom niile, ụmụntakịrị niile na ụmụ na-aṅụ ara, igwe ehi na atụrụ, ịnyịnya kamel na ịnyịnya ibu ha niile.’”
Now go and strike Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and nursing infant, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
5 Sọl duuru ndị agha ya gaa zoo nʼakụkụ iyi tara ata dị nso nʼobodo ndị Amalek.
And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.
And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for all of you showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
7 Sọl busoro ndị Amalek agha site na Havila ruo Shua, nke dị nʼọwụwa anyanwụ Ijipt.
And Saul stroke the Amalekites from Havilah until you come to Shur, that is opposite to Egypt.
And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
10 Mgbe ahụ, okwu Onyenwe anyị rutere Samuel ntị,
Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,
11 “Ọ na-ewute m na m mere Sọl ka ọ bụrụ eze, nʼihi na o nupuru isi site nʼokwu m, jụ ime ihe m nyere ya nʼiwu.” O wutere Samuel nke ukwuu mgbe ọ nụrụ ihe Onyenwe anyị kwuru. Ya mere, o tikuru Onyenwe anyị mkpu akwa abalị ahụ niile.
It repents me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.
12 Nʼisi ụtụtụ echi ya, Samuel pụrụ gawa ịchọ Sọl. Otu onye gwara ya sị, “Sọl agaala nʼugwu Kamel iwuru onwe ya ihe ncheta. Ọ ga-esitekwa ebe ahụ gaa Gilgal.”
And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
13 Nʼikpeazụ, mgbe Samuel hụrụ ya, Sọl ji oke ọṅụ kelee Samuel sị, “Onye Onyenwe anyị gọziri agọzi ka ị bụ. Lee, emeela m ihe niile Onyenwe anyị kwuru!”
And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be you of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.
14 Ma Samuel jụrụ ya sị, “Gịnị bụ ube atụrụ ndị a m na-anụ? Ebee ka ube igwe ehi ndị a si na-ada?”
And Samuel said, What means then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
15 Sọl zara sị, “Ndị agha m si nʼetiti ndị Amalek chịta ụfọdụ nʼime atụrụ na ehi ndị mara mma nke ha chọrọ iji chụọrọ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị aja. Ma anyị bibiri ihe ndị ọzọ fọdụrụnụ.”
And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
16 Mgbe ahụ Samuel gwara Sọl sị, “Ekwukwala ọzọ! Gee ntị nụrụ ihe Onyenwe anyị gwara m nʼabalị!” Sọl zara ya sị, “Kwuo, gịnị ka ọ gwara gị?”
Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell you what the LORD has said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
17 Samuel gwara ya sị, “Ọ bụghị ezie nʼagbanyeghị na ị dịrịị ntakịrị nʼanya gị onwe gị, ma ị bụụrụ onyeisi ndị ebo Izrel niile? Onyenwe anyị tere gị mmanụ ibu eze ndị Izrel.
And Samuel said, When you were little in your own sight, were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed you king over Israel?
18 Onyenwe anyị ziri gị ijere ya ozi, gwa gị sị, ‘Gaa, laa ndị ajọ omume ahụ, bụ ndị Amalek nʼiyi; buso ha agha ruo mgbe ị kpochapụrụ ha niile.’
And the LORD sent you on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
19 Gịnị mere i geghị ntị nʼokwu Onyenwe anyị ime ihe o kwuru? Gịnị mere i ji chụrụ ihe nkwata gaa, si otu a mee ihe dị njọ nʼanya Onyenwe anyị?”
Wherefore then did you not obey the voice of the LORD, but did fly upon the spoil, and did evil in the sight of the LORD?
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
21 Ndị agha sitere nʼihe a kwatara nʼagha were ụfọdụ atụrụ na ehi, bụ ndị kachasị mma nʼetiti ihe ndị ahụ e debere iche maka ịla ha nʼiyi, iji ha chụọrọ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị aja na Gilgal.”
But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God in Gilgal.
22 Ma Samuel sịrị, “Ihe na-atọ Onyenwe anyị ụtọ ọ bụ onyinye na aja nsure ọkụ dịka nrube isi nye ihe si nʼọnụ Onyenwe anyị pụta? Nrube isi dị mma karịa ịchụ aja ịṅa ntị dị mma karịa abụba ebule.
And Samuel said, Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king.
24 Sọl zara Samuel sị ya, “Emehiela m. Nʼezie, enupula m isi na ndụmọdụ gị na nʼiwu Onyenwe anyị. Ọ bụ nʼihi na m tụrụ egwu ndị Izrel ka m ji mee ihe ha chọrọ.
And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and your words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
25 Biko, gbaghara m mmehie m ugbu a, bịakwa soro m ka m gaa fee Onyenwe anyị ofufe.”
Now therefore, I pray you, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD.
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with you: for you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel.
27 Mgbe Samuel tụgharịrị ka o si nʼebe ahụ pụọ, Sọl jidere ya nʼọnụ ọnụ uwe ya ime ka ọ lọghachi azụ, ma uwe ahụ dọwara.
And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
28 Mgbe ahụ, Samuel zara sị ya, “Taa Onyenwe anyị adọwapụla alaeze Izrel site nʼaka gị were ya nyefee otu nʼime ndị agbataobi gị, onye ka gị mma.
And Samuel said unto him, The LORD has rent the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbour of yours, that is better than you.
29 Chineke, onye bụ Ebube Izrel, anaghị agha ụgha; ọ nakwaghị agbanwe obi ya, nʼihi na ọ bụghị mmadụ efu!”
And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
30 Ma Sọl malitekwara ịrịọ arịrịọ ọzọ sị, “Emehiela m. Ma, sọpụrụ m ugbu a nʼihu ndị okenye ndị m, na nʼihu ndị Izrel. Lọghachi soro m ka m gaa fee Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị ofufe.”
Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray you, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD your God.
31 Ya mere, Samuel kwenyere soro Sọl laghachi, Sọl kpọkwara isiala nye Onyenwe anyị.
So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.
32 Mgbe ahụ, Samuel gwara ya okwu sị ya, “Kpọpụtara m Agag, eze ndị Amalek.” Agag ji ihu ọchị bịakwute ya, nʼihi na o chere sị, “Nʼezie oge ọnwụ agaala.”
Then said Samuel, Bring all of you here to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
33 Ma Samuel kwuru sị, “Dịka mma agha gị sị gbawa ndị inyom aka ụmụ otu a ka nne gị ga-esi bụrụ onye na-enweghị nwa nʼetiti ndị inyom.” Samuel gburu Agag nʼihu Onyenwe anyị na Gilgal.
And Samuel said, As the sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.
Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
35 Site nʼoge ahụ ruo mgbe Samuel nwụrụ, ọ hụkwaghị Sọl anya ọzọ. Ma o rugidere ụjụ nʼihi Sọl oge ndị a niile. O wutekwara Onyenwe anyị na o mere Sọl eze ndị Izrel.
And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
