And Solomon allied himself with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and married Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem on every side.
2 Nʼoge ahụ, ndị Izrel ka na-achụ aja ha nʼebe dị elu niile, nʼihi na ewubeghị ụlọnsọ ukwu nye aha Onyenwe anyị.
Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built to the name of the LORD, until those days.
3 Ma Solomọn gosiri ịhụnanya nʼebe Onyenwe anyị nọ, site na ịgbaso ntụziaka niile nke Devid nna ya nyere ya, ọ bụ naanị na ọ chụrụ ọtụtụ aja dị iche iche, na ihe nsure ọkụ na-esi isi ụtọ nʼebe dị elu dị iche iche.
And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
4 Eze gara Gibiọn nʼihi ịchụ aja, nʼihi na ebe ahụ bụ ebe kachasị mkpa, dị elu. Solomọn chụrụ otu puku aja nsure ọkụ nʼelu ebe ịchụ aja ahụ.
And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6 Solomọn zara sị, “I gosila ohu gị bụ nna m Devid obi ebere dị ukwuu, nʼihi na ọ bụ onye kwesiri ntụkwasị obi nye gị, onye ezi omume nakwa onye obi ya ziri ezi. Ị nọgidela na-egosi ya obi ebere dị ukwuu, nyekwa ya nwa nwoke ga-anọkwasị nʼocheeze ya nʼụbọchị taa.
And Solomon said, Thou hast shown to thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 “Ugbu a, Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke m, i meela ohu gị eze nʼọnọdụ nna m, bụ Devid. Ma abụ m naanị nwantakịrị na-amaghị otu esi apụ ma na-abatakwa.
And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8 Ohu gị nọ nʼebe a, nʼetiti ndị gị ị họpụtara, ndị bara ụba nke ukwuu, ndị a na-adịghị agụta ọnụ nʼihi nʼọnụọgụgụ ha babigara ụba oke.
And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9 Ya mere, nye ohu gị uche nghọta nke m ga-eji chịa ndị gị, na ịghọta ihe dị iche nʼetiti ezi ihe na ajọ ihe. Nʼihi na onye pụrụ ịchịkọta ndị gị a dị ukwuu?”
Give therefore to thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10 Ọ masịrị Onyenwe anyị na Solomọn rịọrọ nke a.
And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11 Ya mere, Chineke zara sị ya, “Nʼihi na ị rịọrọ amamihe na nghọta ị ga-eji chịa ndị m, ma ị rịọghị m ka m nye gị ndụ ogologo, maọbụ akụnụba, maọbụ ọnwụ nye ndị iro gị.
And God said to him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thy enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12 Aga m eme dịka ihe ị rịọrọ si dị. Aga m enye gị obi maara ihe na uche ịghọta ihe ziri ezi, nke ga-abụ na ọ dịghị onye ọbụla dịka gị, ọ dịghịkwa onye ọbụla ga-adị ka gị.
Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there hath been none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like thee.
13 Ọzọkwa, aga m enyekwa gị ihe ndị ahụ ị na-arịọghị m, akụnụba, na nsọpụrụ, ka ọ ga-abụ nʼụbọchị niile nke ndụ gị, ị gaghị enwe onye ọbụla ga-adị ka gị nʼetiti ndị eze niile.
And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like thee all thy days.
14 Ọ bụrụkwa na i jee ije nʼụzọ m niile, debe iwu m, meekwa ihe m gwara gị, dịka nna gị Devid mere, aga m enye gị ogologo ndụ.”
And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
16 Mgbe ihe ndị a gasịrị, ụmụ nwanyị akwụna abụọ bịakwutere eze, guzo nʼihu ya.
Then came there two women, that were harlots, to the king, and stood before him.
17 Otu nʼime ha gwara ya sị, “Onyenwe m, mụ na nwanyị a bi nʼotu ụlọ. Anyị abụọ dịkwa ime. Ma eburu m ya ụzọ mụọ nwa nke m.
And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18 Mgbe ụbọchị atọ gasịrị ka m mụsịrị nwa, ya onwe ya mụkwara nwa nke ya. Naanị anyị abụọ bi, o nweghị onye ọzọ binyere anyị.
And it came to pass the third day after I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, except us two in the house.
19 “Ma nʼotu abalị, nwa ya nwụrụ mgbe o dinakwasịrị ya nʼoge ọ na-arahụ ụra.
And this woman’s child died in the night; because she lay on him.
And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thy handmaid slept, and laid him in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
And when I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, he was dead: but when I had looked at him in the morning, behold, he was not my son, whom I bore.
22 Mgbe ahụ, nwanyị nke ọzọ kwuru sị, “Mba, nwantakịrị ahụ dị ndụ bụ nwa m, ma nke nwụrụ anwụ bụ nwa gị.” Nwanyị nke mbụ zara sị, “Mba, ọ bụghị eziokwu; nwa nke nwụrụ anwụ bụ nke gị, ma nke dị ndụ bụ nke m.” Otu a ka ha si na-arụrịta ụka nʼihu eze.
And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spoke before the king.
23 Eze kwuru sị, “Onye nke a na-asị, ‘Nwa m bụ nke dị ndụ, ma nke gị bụ nke nwụrụ anwụ,’ mgbe onye nke ọzọ na-asị, ‘Mba! Nwa gị bụ nke nwụrụ anwụ, ma nke m bụ nke dị ndụ.’”
Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
24 Mgbe ahụ, eze sịrị, “Wetara m mma agha.” Ya mere, ha wetaara eze mma agha.
And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25 Eze nyere iwu sị, “Kpọwaa nwa ahụ dị ndụ ụzọ abụọ, were otu ọkara nye otu onye, werekwa nke ọzọ nye onye nke ọzọ.”
And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26 Nwanyị ahụ nwa ya dị ndụ jupụtara nʼọmịiko nʼebe nwa ya nọ, ọ gwara eze sị, “Biko, onyenwe m, kunye ya nwantakịrị ahụ dị ndụ. Egbukwala ya.” Ma onye nke ọzọ sịrị, “Kpọwaa ya abụọ. Nwa a agaghị abụ nke gị, ọ gaghị abụkwa nke m.”
Then spoke the woman whose the living child was to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means slay him. But the other said, Let he be neither mine nor thine, but divide him.
27 Mgbe ahụ, eze kpebiri ikpe sị, “Kuru nwantakịrị a dị ndụ kunye ya nwanyị ahụ chọrọ ka ọ dị ndụ. Egbula ya, nʼihi na nwanyị ahụ bụ nne ya.”
Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and by no means slay him: she is his mother.
28 Mgbe ndị Izrel niile nụrụ otu eze si kpebie ikpe a, ha sitere nʼịtụ egwu nye eze nsọpụrụ, nʼihi na ha hụrụ na o si nʼaka Chineke nweta amamihe ikpe ikpe ziri ezi.
And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
