1 Onye ọbụla kweere na Jisọs bụ Kraịst bụ onye amụrụ site na Chineke. Onye ọbụla nke hụkwara Nna nʼanya na-ahụkwa Ọkpara ya nʼanya.
Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ has received the new Life from God; and every one who loves him who gave that Life loves him who has received it.
2 Ọ bụ otu a ka anyị si amata na anyị hụrụ ụmụ Chineke nʼanya, mgbe anyị na-ahụ Chineke nʼanya, na-erubekwa isi nʼiwu ya niile.
By this we know that we love God’s Children — when we love God and carry out his commands.
3 Nke a bụ ịhụnanya Chineke, na anyị ga-edebe iwu ya. Iwu ya adịghịkwa arọ.
For to love God is to lay his commands to heart; and his commands are not burdensome,
4 Nʼihi na onye ọbụla amụrụ site na Chineke na-emeri ụwa. Nke a bụkwa mmeri ahụ na-emeri ụwa, ọ bụladị okwukwe anyị.
because all that has received the new Life from God conquers the world. And this is the power that has conquered the world — our faith!
5 Onye pụrụ imeri ụwa, ma ọ bụghị naanị onye ahụ kweere na Jisọs bụ Ọkpara Chineke?
Who is he that conquers the world but the man who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
He it is whose Coming was attested by means of Water and Blood — Jesus Christ himself; not by Water only, but by Water and by Blood. And there is the Spirit also to bear testimony, and the Spirit is Truth itself.
7 Nʼihi na ha dị atọ gbara akaebe:
It is a three-fold testimony —
8 Mmụọ Nsọ, na mmiri na ọbara, ha atọ kwekọrịtara.
that of the Spirit, the Water, and the Blood — and these three are at one.
9 Ọ bụrụ na anyị nabata akaebe nke mmadụ gbara, akaebe nke Chineke gbara dị ukwuu karịa, nʼihi na ọ bụ akaebe Chineke gbara banyere Ọkpara ya.
We accept the testimony of men, but God’s testimony is still stronger; and there is the testimony of God — the fact that he has already borne testimony about his Son.
10 Onye ọbụla kweere nʼỌkpara Chineke nwere ọgbụgba ama a nʼobi ya. Ma onye ọbụla na-ekwereghị na Chineke emeela ya ka ọ bụrụ onye ụgha, nʼihi na o kwereghị nʼama ahụ Chineke gbara banyere Ọkpara ya.
He who believes in the Son of God has that testimony within him. He who does not believe God has made God a liar, by refusing to believe in that testimony which he has borne about his Son.
11 Ama ahụ bụkwa nke a, na Chineke enyela anyị ndụ ebighị ebi, ndụ a dịkwa nʼime Ọkpara ya. (aiōnios )
And that testimony is that God gave us Immortal Life, and that this Life is in his Son. (aiōnios )
12 Onye ọbụla nwere Ọkpara ahụ nwere ndụ ma onye ọbụla na-enweghị Ọkpara Chineke enweghị ndụ.
He who finds the Son finds Life; he who does not find the Son of God does not find Life.
13 Ana m edere unu ihe ndị a unu ndị kweere nʼaha Ọkpara Chineke, ime ka unu mata na unu nwere ndụ ebighị ebi. (aiōnios )
I write this to you, that you may realise that you have found Immortal Life — you who believe in the Name of the Son of God. (aiōnios )
14 Nkwuwa okwu anyị nwere na ya bụ, na ọ bụrụ na anyị arịọ ihe ọbụla dịka ọchịchọ obi ya siri dị, ọ na-anụ olu anyị.
And this is the confidence with which we approach him, that whenever we ask anything that is in accordance with his will, he listens to us.
15 Ọ bụrụkwanụ na anyị matara na ọ na-anụ olu anyị mgbe ọbụla anyị rịọrọ ya ihe, anyị na-amatakwa na anyị anatala ihe ọbụla anyị rịọrọ ya.
And if we realise that he listens to us — whatever we ask — we realise that we have what we have asked from him.
16 Ọ bụrụ na onye ọbụla ahụ ka nwanna ya na-eme mmehie nke na-adịghị eduba nʼọnwụ, ya kpee ekpere, Chineke ga-enyekwa onye ahụ ndụ. Nke a bụ maka ndị ahụ mmehie ha na-abụghị nke na-eduba nʼọnwụ. E nwere mmehie na-eduba nʼọnwụ. Asịghị m unu kpee ekpere maka nke ahụ.
If any one sees his Brother committing some sin that is not a deadly sin, he will ask, and so be the means of giving Life to him — to any whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin; about that I do not say that a man should pray.
17 Ajọ omume niile bụ mmehie, ma ọ dị mmehie nke na-adịghị eduba nʼọnwụ.
Every wrong action is sin, and there is sin that is not deadly.
18 Anyị matara na onye ọbụla amụrụ site na Chineke anaghị aga nʼihu na-eme mmehie, kama onye ahụ nke amụrụ site na Chineke na-echekwa ha, ajọ onye ahụ adịghị emetụkwa ha aka.
We know that no one who has received the new Life from God lives in sin. No, he who has received the new Life from God keeps the thought of God in his heart, and then the Evil One does not touch him.
19 Anyị maara na anyị bụ ụmụ Chineke, ụwa niile nọkwa nʼokpuru ike ajọ onye ahụ.
We realise that we come from God, while all the world is under the influence of the Evil One.
20 Anyị matakwara na Ọkpara Chineke abịala, nyekwa anyị nghọta ka anyị mara ya, onye bụ eziokwu. Anyị nọ nʼime onye ahụ bụ eziokwu, ọ bụladị nʼime Ọkpara ya, bụ Jisọs Kraịst. Ya onwe ya bụ ezi Chineke bụrụkwa ndụ ebighị ebi. (aiōnios )
We realise, too, that the Son of God has come among us, and has given us the discernment to know the True God; and we are in union with the True God by our union with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the True God and he is Immortal Life. (aiōnios )
21 Ụmụ m, wezuganụ onwe unu site nʼarụsị niile.
My Children, guard yourselves against false ideas of God.
