1 Ezi ụmụntakịrị m, ana m edere unu ihe ndị a ka unu ghara imehie. Ma ọ bụrụ na onye ọbụla emehie, anyị nwere onye na-ekwuchite ọnụ anyị nʼihu Nna ahụ. Ọ bụ Jisọs Kraịst, Onye ezi omume ahụ.
My children, I am writing to you to keep you from sinning. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ, the righteous.
2 Ọ bụ onye jiri onwe ya chụọ aja nʼihi ikpuchiri anyị mmehie anyị, ma ọ bụghị naanị nʼihi mmehie anyị, ọ bụkwa nʼihi mmehie ụwa niile.
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but the sins of the whole world.
It is by keeping God’s commands that we can be sure we know him.
4 Onye ahụ na-ekwu sị, “Amaara m ya,” ma ọ dịghị eme ihe o nyere nʼiwu bụ onye okwu ụgha, eziokwu ahụ adịghịkwa nʼime ya.
Whoever says “I know him,” but does not keep his commands, is a liar. The truth has no place in them.
5 Ma ọ bụrụ na onye ọbụla na-erube isi nʼokwu ya, nʼezie, ịhụnanya Chineke bụ ihe emere ka o zuo oke nʼime ya. Ọ bụ otu a ka anyị si amata na anyị nọ nʼime ya.
But the person who keeps God’s word, in them the love of God has indeed reached its perfection. This is how we can be sure we are in him:
6 Onye ọbụla na-ekwu na ya bi nʼime ya kwesiri ibi ndụ dịka ya.
whoever claims to live in him should live just as Jesus did.
7 Ndị enyi m hụrụ nʼanya, anaghị m edere unu ihe gbasara iwu ọhụrụ, kama ọ bụ otu iwu ochie ahụ, nke na-adị site na mbụ. Iwu ochie a bụ nke e ziri unu ozi banyere ya.
Dear friends, it is no new command that I am writing to you, but an old command, which you have had from the beginning. That old command is the message you have already heard.
8 Ma otu ọ dị, ana m edere unu iwu ọhụrụ, nke bụ eziokwu nʼime ya na nʼime unu. Nʼihi na ọchịchịrị na-agafe, ezi ìhè ebidola ịchawapụta.
Yet, in a way, it is a new command that I am writing to you – which is shown true in Christ’s life and in yours – for the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
The person who says that they are in the light, and yet hates others, is still in the darkness.
10 Onye ọbụla na-ahụ nwanna ya nʼanya na-ebi nʼime ihe ahụ ọ dịkwaghị ìhè dị nʼime onye dị otu a bụ nke ga-eme ya ka ọ sụọ ngọngọ.
The person who loves others is always in the light, and there is nothing within them to cause them to stumble.
11 Ma onye ọbụla na-akpọ nwanna ya asị nọ nʼọchịchịrị, na-ejegharịkwa nʼime ọchịchịrị; ọ maghị ebe ọ na-aga nʼihi na ọchịchịrị ahụ emeela ka o kpuo ìsì.
The person who hates is in the dark. They stumble along in the darkness; they do not know where they are going because the darkness blinds them.
12 Ana m edere unu ihe ndị a ụmụntakịrị m nʼihi na a gbagharala unu mmehie niile site nʼaha ya.
Little children, I am writing to you because your sins have been forgiven for Christ’s sake.
13 Ana m edere unu ndị bụ nna ihe ndị a, nʼihi na unu maara onye ahụ na-adị site na mbụ. Ana m edere unu ụmụ okorobịa, nʼihi na unu emeriela ajọ onye ahụ.
Parents, I am writing to you because you have come to know him who has been from the beginning. Young people, I am writing to you because you have conquered the evil one. Children, I write to you because you have come to know the Father.
14 Ana m edere unu ụmụntakịrị, nʼihi na unu maara nna ahụ. Ana m edere unu ndị nna, nʼihi na unu maara onye ahụ na-adị site na mbụ. Ana m edere unu ụmụ okorobịa, nʼihi na unu siri ike, okwu Chineke na-ebikwa nʼime unu, unu emeriekwala ajọ onye ahụ.
Parents, I write to you because you have learned to know him who has been from the beginning. Young people, I write to you because you are strong, and God’s message is always in your hearts, and you have conquered the evil one.
Do not love the world or what the world can offer. When anyone loves the world, there is no love for the Father in them.
16 Nʼihi na ihe niile dị nʼụwa, ihe ndị ahụ niile anụ ahụ anyị, na anya anyị na-achọ, ya na ịnya isi mmadụ banyere ihe ọ bụ na ihe o nwere, esiteghị nʼebe Nna nọ, kama ha sitere nʼụwa.
For all that the world can offer – the desires for physical pleasure, the enticements to the eye, the arrogance of wealth – belongs, not to the Father, but to the world.
17 Ụwa na ọchịchọ ọjọọ ya niile na-agafe agafe, ma onye ahụ na-eme uche Chineke ga-adị ndụ ruo mgbe ebighị ebi. (aiōn g165)
And the world, and all that it gratifies, is passing away, but they who do God’s will remain for ever. (aiōn g165)
18 Ụmụ m, nke a bụ oge awa nke ikpeazụ. Dịka unu nụrụ na otu onye na-emegide Kraịst na-abịa, ọ bụladị ugbu a, ọtụtụ ndị na-emegide Kraịst abịala. Otu a ka anyị si amata na ọ bụ oge awa nke ikpeazụ.
My children, it is the last hour. You were told that an antichrist was coming; and many antichrists have already arisen. This is why we know that this is the last hour.
These people come from our ranks, but they were never truly part of us – if they had been then they would have stayed with us. They left so it would be clear that none of them really belonged to us.
20 Ma unu nwere otite mmanụ sitere nʼOnye Nsọ ahụ, unu niile matakwara ihe niile.
You, however, have been annointed by the Holy One. You all know the truth.
I am not writing to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie can come from the truth.
Who is a liar, if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? That person is the antichrist – one who rejects the Father and the Son.
23 Onye ọbụla jụrụ Ọkpara ahụ enwekwaghị Nna ahụ; ma onye ọbụla nabatara Ọkpara ahụ nwekwara Nna ahụ.
No one who rejects the Son has the Father; to acknowledge the Son is to have the Father also.
24 Hụnụ na ihe unu nụrụ site na mmalite na-anọgide nʼime unu. Ọ bụrụ na ihe unu nụrụ na mbido ebiri nʼime unu, unu ga-anọgide nʼime Ọkpara ahụ na nʼime Nna ahụ.
As for you, you must let what you have heard from the beginning continue to live in you. If what you heard from the beginning dwells in you, you will remain both in the Son and the Father.
25 Ihe o kwere anyị na nkwa bụ nke a, ndụ ebighị ebi. (aiōnios g166)
And this is what he himself promised us – eternal life! (aiōnios g166)
26 Ana m edere unu ihe ndị a banyere ndị ahụ na-agbalị iduhie unu.
In writing this to you, I have in mind those who are trying to mislead you.
27 Ma unu onwe unu, otite mmanụ ahụ unu natara nʼaka ya na-anọgide nʼime unu, nʼihi nke a, onye ozizi ọzọ adịghị unu mkpa. Dịka otite mmanụ ya na-ezi unu ihe banyere ihe niile, bụrụkwa eziokwu, ọ bụghị okwu ụgha. Ya mere, dịka o zikwara unu, na-anọgidenụ nʼime ya.
As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains with you. You do not need anyone to teach you. His anointing teaches you about everything. What it teaches you is true, it is not a lie. Do what it has taught you: abide in him.
28 Ugbu a ụmụntakịrị m, nọgidesienụ ike nʼime ya, ka ọ ga-abụ mgbe e mere ka ọ pụta ìhè, anyị ga-abụ ndị obi siri ike, ndị ihere na-agaghị eme, nʼihu ya mgbe ọ bịara.
Yes, my children, remain in him, so that when he appears our confidence doesn’t fail us, and we are not ashamed to meet him at his coming.
Since you know he is righteous, you realize that everyone who does what is right is his child.
