1 Mgbe ahụ, Devid sịrị, “Ebe a ka a ga-ewuru Onyenwe anyị Chineke ụlọ, nakwa ebe ịchụ aja nke aja nsure ọkụ nye Izrel.”
Then David said, “Here, [at the edge of Jerusalem, ] is where [we will build] the temple for our God Yahweh, and where [we will make] the altar for burning the offerings that the Israeli [people will bring].”
2 Ya mere, Devid nyere iwu ka a kpọkọta ndị ọbịa niile bi nʼIzrel, site nʼetiti ha ọ họpụtara ndị ga-edozi nkume a wara awa nke e ji wuo ụlọ Chineke.
So David commanded that the foreigners who lived in Israel must gather together. [When they did that, ] he appointed [some of those] men to [cut huge] stones [from the quarries] and to smooth their surfaces, to be used to build the temple of God.
3 Devid wetara ọtụtụ igwe dị ukwuu, nke ha ji akpụta ǹtu maka ibo ọnụ ụzọ ama niile, na nke ịkpụ ihe njikọta niile. O wetakwara bronz a na-apụghị ịkọwa ịdị arọ ya.
David provided a large amount of iron for making nails and hinges for the doors in the gates of the temple. He also provided so much bronze [for making the altar and various utensils], that no one could weigh it all.
4 O webatakwara osisi sida nʼapụghị ịgụta ọnụọgụgụ ha, nʼihi na ndị Taịa na Saịdọn butere ha nʼọnụọgụgụ riri nne nye Devid.
He also provided [money for buying] a large amount of cedar logs. Because there was a huge number of them, no one was able to count them. Those were logs that men from Tyre and Sidon [cities] sent to David.
5 Mgbe ahụ, Devid kwuru, “Solomọn nwa m bụ nwantakịrị, onye na-amachabeghị ihe. Ma ụlọnsọ a ga-ewuru Onyenwe anyị ga-abụ ụlọ dị ukwuu, nke ga-enwe aha a ma ama, na nke mara ezi mma nʼanya mba niile dị nʼụwa. Nʼihi ya, aga m akpakọba ihe niile e ji ewu ya.” Ya mere, tupu Devid anwụọ, ọ kwakọtara ngwongwo riri nne.
David [provided all those things because he] thought, “My son Solomon is still young and he does not know what he needs to know [about building], and the temple of Yahweh must be (magnificent/very beautiful). It must be a glorious building that will become famous, and people throughout the world must consider it to be glorious/splendid. So now I will begin to prepare for it to be built, [and Solomon will be responsible for building it].” So David collected a great amount of building materials before he died.
6 Ọ kpọrọ Solomọn, bụ nwa ya, nye ya iwu iwuru Onyenwe anyị, bụ Chineke nke Izrel ụlọ.
[When] David [was old, he] summoned his son Solomon, and told him that he should arrange for a temple to be built for Yahweh, the God whom the Israelis [worshiped].
7 Devid gwara Solomọn sị, “Nwa m, ọ dị m nʼobi iwu ụlọ maka aha Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke m,
He said to him, “I wanted [IDM] to build a temple to honor [MTY] Yahweh, my God.
8 ma okwu Onyenwe anyị ndị a ruru m ntị sị m, ‘Ị wụsịala ọtụtụ ọbara, bukwaa ọtụtụ agha. Ị gaghị ewu ụlọ nye Aha m, nʼihi na ị wụsịala ọtụtụ ọbara nʼelu ala nʼihu m.
But Yahweh told [a prophet to tell] me, ‘You have killed many men [MTY] in the battles that you have fought. I have seen the blood of all the people whom you killed, so you will not be the one who will arrange for a temple to be built to honor me [MTY].
But you will have a son [who will be king of Israel after you die]. He will be a man who is peaceful and quiet, [not a man who kills others]. And I will cause that there will be peace between him and his enemies who are in all the nearby lands. His name will be Solomon, [which sounds like the word for peace]. During the time that he is king, people in Israel will be peaceful and safe.
10 Ya onwe ya ga-ewuru m ụlọ ahụ. Ọ ga-abụrụ m nwa, mụ onwe m ga-abụkwara ya nna. Aga m emekwa ka ocheeze alaeze ya nʼIzrel guzosie ike ruo mgbe ebighị ebi.’
He is the one who will arrange for a temple to be built to honor me [MTY]. He will be [like] a son to me, and I will cause some of his descendants to rule [MTY] over Israel forever [HYP].’
11 “Ya mere, ugbu a nwa m, ka Onyenwe anyị nọnyere gị mgbe ị ga-ewu ụlọ Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị, dịka o kwuru na ị ga-eme.
“So now, my son, I hope/wish that Yahweh will help you, and enable you to be successful in arranging for building the temple of Yahweh, your God, which is what he said that you would do.
12 Onyenwe anyị nyekwa gị amamihe na nghọta nke ị ga-eji chịa ezi ọchịchị mgbe ị ghọrọ eze Izrel, ka i si otu a debe iwu Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị.
I also hope/wish that he will enable you to be wise and to understand what you need to know, and enable you to obey his laws while you rule over Israel.
13 Mgbe ahụ, ị ga-enwe ọganihu, ma ọ bụrụ na i lezie anya idebe iwu na ụkpụrụ niile nke Onyenwe anyị nyere Mosis maka Izrel. Dị ike, nwee obi ike. Atụla ụjọ, maọbụ daa mba.
If you carefully obey all the laws and regulations/commands that Yahweh gave to Moses to give to us Israeli people, you will be successful. So be steadfast/strong and courageous. Do not be afraid of anything, and do not become discouraged!
14 “Ejisiela m ike chịkọtaa ihe maka ụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị, narị puku talenti ọlaedo na nde talenti ọlaọcha, na igwe, na bronz, nke a na-apụghị ịgụta ịdị arọ ha, na osisi, na nkume. I nwere ike itinyekwa ihe ndị ọzọ nʼime ha.
“I have tried hard to provide [materials] for [building] the temple of Yahweh. I have provided nearly 4,000 tons of gold, and nearly 40,000 tons of silver. I have also provided a very large amount of iron and bronze; no one has been able to weigh it all. I have also gathered/provided lumber and stone [for the walls of the temple], but you may need to get some more of those things.
15 Lee, i nwekwara ọtụtụ ndị ọrụ ndị na-awa nkume, na ndị na-edo nkume, na ndị ọka osisi, na ndị a maara aha ha nʼihe gbasara ǹka nʼọrụ dị iche iche,
There are many men [in Israel] who have good ability to cut big stones for making stone walls, and carpenters, and men who are very skilled at making various kinds of things.
16 ọlaedo, na ọlaọcha, na bronz, na igwe, ndị ọrụ nʼenweghị ọnụọgụgụ. Onyenwe anyị aghaghị ịnọnyere gị. Bilie, rụọ ọrụ dịịrị gị.”
There are many men who know how to make things from gold and silver and bronze and iron. So now [I say to you], begin the work [of building the temple], and I hope/wish that Yahweh will help/be with you.”
17 Devid nyere ndịisi Izrel iwu ka ha nyere nwa ya Solomọn aka, mgbe ọ ga-ewu ụlọ ahụ.
Then David commanded that all the Israeli leaders must assist Solomon. He said to them,
18 Ọ gwara ha okwu sị, “Ọ bụ na Onyenwe anyị Chineke anọnyereghị unu? Ọ bụ na o nyebeghị unu udo nʼakụkụ niile? Nʼihi na o nyela m mmeri nʼebe ndị iro m nọ. Ugbu a, ala a dịkwa nʼaka Onyenwe anyị na nʼaka ndị ya.
“Yahweh our God is certainly with/helping you [RHQ]. He has allowed you to have peace with all the nearby nations [RHQ]. He has enabled my [army] to conquer [IDM] them, so now Yahweh and my people control them.
19 Ya mere, tinyenụ obi unu na mmụọ unu nʼịgbaso Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu. Malitekwanụ iwu ụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị Chineke, ka unu nweekwa ike ibubata igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Onyenwe anyị, na ihe nsọ ndị ọzọ nʼime ụlọnsọ ukwu ahụ a ga-ewu nʼihi Aha Onyenwe anyị.”
Now you must obey Yahweh completely. Help Solomon to arrange for building the temple for Yahweh God, in order that you can bring the Sacred Chest that contains the Ten Commandments and the other sacred items that belong to God into the temple that you will build to honor Yahweh.”
