< 1 Ihe E Mere 21 >
1 Ekwensu biliri megide Izrel, mgbe ọ kpaliri Devid ka ọ gụọ Izrel ọnụ.
Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to take a census of Israel.
2 Ya mere, Devid gwara Joab na ndịisi agha okwu sị, “Gaa gụọ ụmụ Izrel niile ọnụ, site na Bịasheba ruo Dan. Emesịa, bịa gwa m ihe ị gụtara ka m mata ole ọnụọgụgụ ha dị.”
David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”
3 Ma Joab zaghachiri, “Ka Onyenwe anyị mee ka ndị agha ya mụbaa, otu onye narị ụzọ karịa. Ma onyenwe m eze, ọ bụ na ndị a niile abụghị ndị nọ nʼokpuru ọchịchị onyenwe m? Nʼihi gịnị ka onyenwe m ji na-achọ ime ihe a? Nʼihi gịnị ka ọ ga-eji wetara Izrel ikpe ọmụma?”
Joab said, “May the LORD make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, aren’t they all my lord’s servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?”
4 Ma okwu eze dị ike karịa nke Joab. Ya mere, Joab pụrụ gagharịa nʼIzrel niile, mechaa lọghachikwa na Jerusalem.
Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed and went throughout all Israel, then came to Jerusalem.
5 Joab nyere Devid ngụkọta ọnụọgụgụ nke ndị agha Izrel niile. NʼIzrel niile, ha dị otu nde, na narị puku ndị ikom ndị tozuru iji mma agha buo agha, tinyekwara narị puku ndị ikom anọ na iri asaa nʼala Juda ndị na-amịpụta mma agha.
Joab gave the sum of the census of the people to David. All those of Israel were one million one hundred thousand men who drew a sword; and in Judah were four hundred seventy thousand men who drew a sword.
6 Ma Joab agụnyeghị ndị Livayị, na ndị Benjamin nʼọnụọgụgụ ahụ, nʼihi na iwu eze amasịghị ya nʼobi nʼụzọ ọbụla.
But he didn’t count Levi and Benjamin among them, for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.
7 Iwu banyere ọnụọgụgụ a adịghịkwa Chineke mma nʼanya. Ya mere, ọ tara ndị Izrel ahụhụ nʼihi ya.
God was displeased with this thing; therefore he struck Israel.
8 Mgbe ahụ, Devid sịrị Chineke, “Emehiela m nke ukwuu site nʼihe a m mere. Ma ugbu a, biko, arịọ m gị, wezuga ikpe ọmụma dịịrị ohu gị; nʼihi na emeela m ihe nzuzu dị ukwuu.”
David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”
9 Onyenwe anyị gwara Gad, onye ọhụ ụzọ Devid, sị,
The LORD spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,
10 “Gaa gwa Devid, ‘Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị na-ekwu: Ụzọ ihe atọ ka m na-eche gị nʼihu. Họrọ otu nʼime ha nke m ga-eme ka ọ bịakwasị gị.’”
“Go and speak to David, saying, ‘The LORD says, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”
11 Ya mere Gad jekwuuru Devid sị ya, “Ihe a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, Họrọ nke dị gị mma.
So Gad came to David and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Take your choice:
12 Oke ụnwụ nke ga-adị afọ atọ, ka ọ bụ ọnwa atọ nke mkpochapụ nʼihu ndị iro unu, site na mma agha ha ga-eru unu ahụ, ka ọ bụ ụbọchị atọ nke mma agha Onyenwe anyị, bụ ajọ ọrịa na-efe efe ịda nʼala a, nke mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị ga-eme ka ọ bịakwasị ala Izrel niile. Ugbu a, chee echiche, kpebie ọsịsa ị chọrọ ka m weghachiri onye ahụ zitere m.”
either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days of the sword of the LORD, even pestilence in the land, and the LORD’s angel destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.’”
David said to Gad, “I am in distress. Let me fall, I pray, into the LORD’s hand, for his mercies are very great. Don’t let me fall into man’s hand.”
14 Nʼihi ya, Onyenwe anyị zitere ajọ ọrịa na-efe efe nʼala Izrel, iri puku ndị ikom asaa dara nwụọ.
So the LORD sent a pestilence on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.
15 Chineke zipụrụ mmụọ ozi ị ga bibie Jerusalem, ma dịka mmụọ ozi ahụ na-eme nke a, Onyenwe anyị hụrụ ya, o wutere ya nʼihi mbibi ahụ. Ọ sịrị mmụọ ozi ahụ nke na-ebibi ndị mmadụ, “O zuola! Seghachi aka gị.” Mgbe ahụ, mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị na-eguzo nʼebe ịzọcha ọka Arauna onye Jebus.
God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was about to destroy, the LORD saw, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the destroying angel, “It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” the LORD’s angel was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 Mgbe Devid leliri anya elu hụ mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị ka o guzo nʼetiti mbara eluigwe na ụwa, hụkwa mma agha o ji, nke o chere ihu ya na Jerusalem, ya na ndị okenye Izrel yi akwa mkpe, dara nʼala kpuo ihu nʼala.
David lifted up his eyes, and saw the LORD’s angel standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.
17 Devid sịrị Chineke, “Ọ bụghị m nyere iwu ka a gụọ ndị tozuru ibu agha ọnụ? Ọ bụ mụ onwe m, mụ bụ onye ọzụzụ atụrụ, mehiere mee ajọ omume. Ma ndị a bụ naanị ụmụ atụrụ, gịnị kwanụ ka ha mere? Onyenwe anyị Chineke m, biko ekwela ka ọrịa a na-efe efe nọgide nʼahụ ndị gị, ka aka gị dịgide naanị nʼahụ m, dịgidekwa nʼahụ ndị ụlọ m.”
David said to God, “Isn’t it I who commanded the people to be counted? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O LORD my God, be against me and against my father’s house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.”
18 Mgbe ahụ, mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị nyere Gad iwu ka ọ gwa Devid, ka ọ gaa wuore Onyenwe anyị ebe ịchụ aja nʼebe ịzọcha ọka Arauna, onye Jebus.
Then the LORD’s angel commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up and raise an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Ya mere, Devid rubere isi gaa dịka okwu ahụ Gad kwuru nʼaha Onyenwe anyị.
David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the LORD’s name.
20 Mgbe Arauna nọ nʼebe ịzọcha ọka, ọ tụgharịrị hụ mmụọ ozi ahụ, ụmụ ya ndị ikom anọ ndị so ya guzo nʼebe ahụ zoro onwe ha.
Ornan turned back and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
21 Mgbe Devid bịakwutere Arauna, Arauna weliri anya hụ ya, ọ hapụrụ ebe ịzọcha ọka ahụ, bịa kpọọ isiala nye Devid, kpudokwa ihu ya nʼala.
As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
22 Devid sịrị ya, “Nye m ebe a, bụ ala ebe ịzọcha ọka gị, ka m nwee ike wuore Onyenwe anyị ebe ịchụ aja, ka akwụsị ọrịa a na-efe efe dakwasịrị ndị mmadụ. Resi m ya nʼọnụ ahịa o ruru.”
Then David said to Ornan, “Sell me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to the LORD on it. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”
23 Ma Arauna zara sị Devid, “Were ya ka onyenwe m eze mee ihe ọbụla dị ya nʼobi. Aga m enye ehi maka iji chụọ aja nsure ọkụ, ihe nzọcha ọka niile ka ha bụrụ nkụ na ọka wiiti maka ịchụ aja mkpụrụ ọka. Aga m enye ha niile.”
Ornan said to David, “Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.”
24 Ma eze Devid zaghachiri Arauna, “ee, aghaghị m ịkwụzu gị ọnụahịa ya. Nʼihi na agaghị m ewere ihe bụ nke gị nye ya Onyenwe anyị, maọbụ chụọ aja nsure ọkụ nke na-agaghị efu m ihe ọbụla.”
King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is yours for the LORD, nor offer a burnt offering that costs me nothing.”
25 Ya mere, Devid kwụrụ Arauna narị shekel ọlaedo isii iji zụrụ ebe ahụ.
So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place.
26 Devid wuru ebe ịchụrụ Onyenwe anyị aja nʼebe ahụ, chụọkwa aja nsure ọkụ na aja udo. Ọ kpọkuru Onyenwe anyị, Onyenwe anyị zakwara ya, site nʼọkụ nke si nʼeluigwe daa nʼelu ebe ịchụ aja nke aja nsure ọkụ ahụ.
David built an altar to the LORD there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the LORD; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.
27 Mgbe ahụ, Onyenwe anyị nyere mmụọ ozi ahụ iwu ka o tinyekwa mma agha ya nʼọbọ ya.
Then the LORD commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.
28 Mgbe Devid hụrụ na Onyenwe anyị azala ekpere ya nʼebe ịzọcha ọka nke Arauna onye Jebus, ọ chụkwara aja ọzọ nye Onyenwe anyị.
At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29 Ụlọ ikwu Onyenwe anyị na ebe ịchụ aja nke aja nsure ọkụ ahụ Mosis wuru nʼọzara dị nʼebe dị elu Gibiọn, nʼoge ahụ.
For the LORD’s tabernacle, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
30 Ma Devid ejerughị ebe ahụ ịjụta Chineke ase, nʼihi na ụjọ tụrụ ya mgbe ọ hụrụ mma agha ahụ dị nʼaka mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị.
But David couldn’t go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid because of the sword of the LORD’s angel.
