1 Mgbe Devid wuchara ụlọ obibi ya nʼobodo Devid, o doziri ebe a ga-adọsa igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Chineke. Ọ mara ụlọ ikwu maka ya.
David [commanded his workers to] build some houses for him in Jerusalem. He also told them to set up a tent in which to put the Sacred Chest.
2 Devid kwuru sị, “O nweghị onye ọbụla ga-ebu igbe Chineke karịakwa ndị Livayị, nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị họpụtara ha ibu igbe Onyenwe anyị na ije ozi nʼihu Onyenwe anyị ruo mgbe ebighị ebi.”
He said, “Only the descendants of Levi are permitted to carry God’s Sacred Chest, because they are the ones whom God chose to carry it and to serve him forever.”
3 Ya mere, Devid kpọkọtara ndị Izrel niile, na Jerusalem ibubata igbe Onyenwe anyị nʼebe ahụ ọ kwadoro na a ga-adọsa ya.
David summoned all the people of Israel to come to Jerusalem. He wanted the Sacred Chest of Yahweh to be put in the place that he had made for it.
4 Ọ kpọkọtara ụmụ Erọn na ndị Livayị:
He summoned the descendants of Aaron, [who was the first Supreme Priest, ] and the other descendants of Levi.
5 Ndị Kohat na ụmụnna ha dị otu narị na iri abụọ. Uriel bụ onyeisi ha.
120 descendants of Kohath, who was Levi’s second son, came, with Uriel their leader.
6 Ụmụ Merari na ụmụnna ha dị narị abụọ na iri abụọ. Asaya bụ onyeisi ha.
There were 220 descendants of Merari, Levi’s third son, who came, with Asaiah their leader.
7 Ụmụ Geshọm na ụmụnna ha dị otu narị na iri atọ. Juel bụ onyeisi ha.
There were 130 descendants of Gershon, Levi’s first son, who came, with Joel their leader.
8 Ụmụ Elizafan na ụmụnna ha dị narị abụọ. Shemaya bụ onyeisi ha.
There were 200 people from Elizaphan’s clan who came, with Shemaiah their leader.
9 Ụmụ Hebrọn na ụmụnna ha dị iri asatọ. Eliel bụ onyeisi ha.
There were 80 people from Hebron’s clan who came, with Eliel their leader.
10 Ụmụ Uziel na ụmụnna ha dị otu narị na iri na abụọ. Aminadab bụ onyeisi ha.
And there were 112 people from Uzziel’s clan who came, with Amminadab their leader.
11 Devid kpọrọ Zadọk na Abịata, ndị nchụaja na Uriel, Asaya, Juel, Shemaya, Eliel, na Aminadab ndị Livayị sị ha,
David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar and these [other] descendants of Levi: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.
12 “Unu bụ ndịisi ezinaụlọ dị iche iche, nʼebo Livayị. Doonụ onwe unu nsọ unu na ụmụnna unu ibulata igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Onyenwe anyị, Chineke Izrel nʼebe a m doziri nʼihi ya.
David said to them, “You are the leaders of the clans descended from Levi. You and the other descendants of Levi must purify yourselves, in order to [be able to do this special work for Yahweh. You must] bring the Sacred Chest of Yahweh, the God of us Israelis, up to the place that I have made for it [here in Jerusalem].
13 Na mbụ, Onyenwe anyị Chineke tara anyị ahụhụ nʼihi na anyị esoghị omenaala ime ka unu bụ ndị Livayị buru ya. Anyị ajụtaghị ya ase otu a ga-esi bulata ya nʼụzọ o kwesiri.”
The first time that we tried to bring it, we did not ask Yahweh how we should carry it {it should be carried}. You [descendants of Levi] were not the ones who carried it, so Yahweh our God punished us.”
14 Ya mere, ndị nchụaja na ndị Livayị mezuru omenaala ido onwe ha nsọ maka ibulata igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Onyenwe anyị, Chineke Izrel ahụ.
Then the priests and the [other] descendants of Levi [performed the rituals to] purify themselves, in order that it would be proper for them to do the work of carrying the Sacred Chest of Yahweh, the God of us Israeli people.
15 Ndị Livayị jiri osisi ogologo buru igbe Chineke ahụ nʼisi ubu aka ha dịka Mosis nyere nʼiwu nʼusoro dịka okwu Onyenwe anyị si dị.
The descendants of Levi [inserted] the poles [into the rings on] the Sacred Chest so that with them, they could carry the Sacred Chest on their shoulders, like Moses had commanded, and like Yahweh had said that they should.
16 Devid nyekwara ndị ndu Livayị iwu sị ka ha họpụta site nʼetiti ụmụnna ha ndị abụ na ndị egwu, ndị ga-abụ abụ ọṅụ, nke ya na ngwa egwu ndị a ga-eso: ụbọ akwara, une na ogene.
David told the leaders of the descendants of Levi to appoint some of their relatives to sing joyful songs and play lyres, harps, and cymbals [while they were carrying the Sacred Chest].
17 Ndị Livayị họpụtara Heman nwa Juel; ma site nʼetiti ụmụnna Juel ha họpụtara Asaf, nwa Berekaya. Sitekwa nʼetiti ụmụnna ha ndị Merari ha họpụtara Etan nwa Kushaya,
So they appointed Heman and his relatives Asaph and Ethan. Heman was the son of Joel; Asaph was the son of Berekiah. Ethan, a descendant of Merari, was Kushaiah’s son.
18 tinyere ndị a, ha họpụtara ụmụnna ha ndị a, ndị na-esote ha nʼọkwa: Zekaraya, Jaaziel, Shemiramot, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaya, Maaseia, Matitaia, Elifelehu, Mikneya, Obed-Edọm na Jeiel bụ ndị na-eche ọnụ ụzọ.
There was also another group of descendants of Levi who were appointed: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and two of the Sacred Tent gatekeepers, Obed-Edom and Jeiel.
19 Heman, Asaf na Etan ka a họpụtara maka ịkụ ogene bronz.
Heman, Asaph and Ethan sang, and also played bronze cymbals.
20 Zekaraya na Aziel, Shemiramot, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseia na Benaya bụ ndị na-akpọ ụbọ akwara dịka usoro abụ alamot, si dị
Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah played lyres.
21 Matitaia, Elifelehu, Mikneya, Obed-Edọm, Jeiel na Azazaya bụkwa ndị na-akpọ une dịka usoro abụ Sheminit si dị.
Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel and Azaziah played harps.
22 Onyeisi ndị na-abụ abụ a họpụtara bụ Kenaniya, onye bụkwa onyeisi ndị Livayị. A họpụtara ya nʼihi na ọ bụ onye nwere nghọta banyere abụ.
Kenaniah, the leader of the descendants of Levi, directed the singing because he was very skilled at doing that.
23 Berekaya na Elkena bụ ndị na-eche ọnụ ụzọ ebe igbe ahụ dị.
Berekiah and Elkanah were two of the men who guarded the Sacred Chest.
24 Shebanaya, Joshafat, Netanel, Amasai, Zekaraya, Benaya na Elieza, ndị bụ ndị nchụaja bụ ndị na-afụ opi nʼihu igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Chineke. Obed-Edọm na Jehaya ga-esokwa ndị ga-eche ọnụ ụzọ ebe igbe ahụ dị nche.
The priests Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer were appointed to blow trumpets in front of the Sacred Chest. Obed-Edom and Jehiah also guarded the Sacred Chest.
25 Devid na ndị okenye Izrel, na ndịisi agha na-achị puku ndị agha, ji oke ọṅụ gaa nʼụlọ Obed-Edọm nʼihi ibugote igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Onyenwe anyị ahụ.
David and the Israeli leaders and the officers who commanded 1,000 soldiers went to bring the Sacred Chest back from Obed-Edom’s house. They were very joyful as they brought it to Jerusalem.
26 Nʼihi na Chineke nyeere ndị Livayị na-ebu igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Onyenwe anyị aka, ọ bụ oke ehi asaa na ebule asaa ka a chụrụ nʼaja.
God helped the descendants of Levi who carried the Sacred Chest of Yahweh; therefore David and the leaders sacrificed seven bulls and seven (rams/male sheep) [to thank him].
27 Ọ bụ ezi akwa ọcha ka e ji kee Devid ekike, dịka ndị Livayị niile bụ ndị bu igbe ọgbụgba ndụ ahụ, na ndị ọbụ abụ, na Kenaniya, bụ onyeisi otu ndị na-abụ abụ yi akwa ọcha nʼahụ ha. Devid yikwa uwe efọọd e ji akwa ọcha dụọ.
All the descendants of Levi who carried the Sacred Chest, all the singers, and Kenaniah, the man who directed those who sang, wore robes of fine white linen and sacred vests made of fine linen. David also wore a sacred vest made of white linen.

So all of the Israeli people joined in bringing the Sacred Chest up [to Jerusalem]. They shouted [joyfully, while the musicians] blew horns and trumpets, and played cymbals, lyres, and harps.
29 Mgbe ha bu igbe ọgbụgba ndụ Onyenwe anyị na-abata nʼobodo Devid, Mikal nwa Sọl, lepụrụ anya site na oghereikuku ụlọ. Mgbe ọ hụrụ eze Devid ka ọ na-ayọrị egwu na-aṅụrị ọṅụ, o ledara ya anya nʼime obi ya.
While they were bringing the Sacred Chest into Jerusalem, Saul’s daughter Michal watched them, looking out of a window. When she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him.
