1 Ezért menthetetlen vagy, ó, ember, bárki légy, aki ítélsz, mert amiben mást megítélsz, abban önmagadat is kárhoztatod, mert ugyanúgy cselekszel te is, aki ítélsz.
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, every one judging. For in whatsoever thou art judging another, thou art condemning thyself; for thou judging art doing the same things.
2 Tudjuk pedig, hogy Isten igazságosan ítéli meg azokat, akik ilyeneket cselekszenek.
For we know that the judgment of God according to truth is against those doing such things.
3 Vagy azt gondolod, ó, ember, aki megítéled azokat, akik ilyeneket cselekszenek, és te is azokat cselekszed, hogy te elkerülöd Isten ítéletét?
But do you consider this, O man, judging those doing such things, and doing the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God?
4 Vagy megveted Isten jóságának, elnézésnek, hosszútűrésének gazdagságát, nem tudva, hogy Isten jósága téged megtérésre indít?
Do you look with contempt upon the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God is leading you to repentance?
5 De te, meg nem tért szíved keménysége szerint haragot gyűjtesz magadnak a haragnak napjára, amikor Isten igazságos ítélete nyilvánvalóvá lesz.
But according to thy hardness and thy impenitent heart, thou art treasuring up to thyself wrath against the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
6 Isten mindenkinek cselekedete szerint fizet meg.
who will give to each one according to his works:
7 Örök élettel azoknak, akik állhatatosan jót cselekedve dicsőséget, tisztességet és halhatatlanságot keresnek. (aiōnios g166)
to those indeed who with patience of good work are seeking glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: (aiōnios g166)
8 Azoknak pedig, akik viszálykodók és nem engednek az igazságnak, hanem engednek a hamisságnak, megfizet majd ítéletének haragjával.
but to those who are of self-seeking, and disobedient to the truth, but obedient to unrighteousness, there are indignation and wrath.
9 Nyomorúság és szorongattatás lesz része mindenkinek, aki gonoszságot cselekszik, első sorban zsidónak, de görögnek is.
Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that is working out evil, both the Jew first, and the Greek;
10 Dicsőség, tisztesség és békesség mindenkinek, aki jót cselekszik, elsősorban zsidónak, de görögnek is.
but glory and honor and peace to every one doing good; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
11 Isten nem személyválogató.
For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 Akik a törvény ismerete nélkül vétkeztek, azok a törvény nélkül vesznek el. Akik pedig a törvény ismeretében vétkeztek, a törvény által ítéltetnek meg.
For so many as sinned without law will also perish without law; and so many as sinned under the law shall be judged by the law;
13 Mert nem azok igazak Isten előtt, akik a törvényt hallgatják, hanem azok fognak megigazulni, akik a törvényt betöltik.
for the hearers of the law are not righteous with God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 Mert amikor a pogányok, akiknek törvényük nincsen, akik nem ismerik a törvényt, mégis természetszerűleg teszik azt, amit a törvény követel, akkor ők, bár törvényük nincsen, önmaguknak lettek a törvénye.
For when the Gentiles, not having the law, may by nature do the things of the law, they, not having the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Ezzel megmutatják, hogy a törvény által követelt cselekedet a szívükbe van írva. Erről tesz bizonyságot lelkiismeretük. Egymást kölcsönösen vádoló vagy felmentő gondolataik is erről tanúskodnak majd
who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience witnessing, and their thoughts accusing or indeed excusing with one another,
16 azon a napon, amelyen Isten megítéli az emberek gondolatait, az én evangéliumom szerint Jézus Krisztus által.
in the day when God will judge the secrets of men through my gospel according to Jesus Christ.
17 De te zsidónak mondod magad, és Isten törvényére támaszkodsz, és Istennel dicsekszel,
But if you are denominated a Jew, and rest in the law, and boast in God,
18 hogy ismered az ő akaratát, és választást tudsz tenni jó és rossz között, mert ismered Isten akaratát, mert törvényéből ezt megtanultad.
and know his will, and approve the things which are excellent, being taught by the law;
19 Azt gondolod magadról, hogy te vakok vezetője, a sötétségben lévőknek világossága,
and persuade yourself that you are a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness, an instructor of the ignorant,
20 a balgatagok tanítója, a kiskorúak mestere vagy, mert tied a törvény ismerete és igazsága.
a teacher of the juveniles, having a form of knowledge and truth in the law;
21 Ha mást tanítasz, magadat nem tanítod-e? Aki azt hirdeted, hogy ne lopj, nem lopsz-e?
therefore do not you who teach another teach yourself? do you, who preach not to steal, steal?
22 Aki azt mondod, ne paráználkodj, nem paráználkodol-e? Aki utálod a bálványokat, nem vagy-e szentségtörő?
do you, who say not to commit adultery, commit adultery? do you, who abominate idolatry, rob temples?
23 Aki a törvény ismeretével dicsekedsz, nem gyalázod-e Istent a törvény megszegésével?
do you, who boast in the law, through the transgression of the law dishonor God?
24 Amint meg van írva: „Miattatok káromolják Isten nevét a pogányok között.“
For the name of God is blasphemed by you among the Gentiles, as has been written.
25 A körülmetélkedés használ, ha a törvényt megtartod. De ha a törvényt áthágod, a te körlülmetélkedésed körülmetéletlenséggé lett.
For circumcision indeed profits, if you do the law: but if you be a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
26 Ha tehát a körülmetéletlen pogány megtartja a törvény parancsait, az ő körülmetéletlensége nem számít-e körülmetéltségnek?
Then if uncircumcision may keep the righteousness of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 A körülmetéletlen ember, aki a törvényt megtartja, megítél téged, aki a törvény betűjének ismerete és a körülmetélkedés ellenére is a törvény megrontója vagy.
and that which is uncircumcision by nature, perfecting the law, will judge you, who through the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law.
28 Mert nem az a zsidó, aki külsőképpen az. Nem az a körülmetélés, ami a testen külsőképpen látszik.
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is circumcision that which is outwardly in the flesh.
29 Az a zsidó, aki belsőképpen az. A szívnek lélekben, nem betű szerint való körülmetélése az igazi körülmetélkedés. Ennek dicsérete nem embertől, hanem Istentől van.
But he is a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
