Rómaiakhoz 12

1 Kérlek azért titeket, atyámfiai, Isten irgalmasságára, hogy szánjátok oda testeteket élő, szent és Istennek kedves áldozatul, mint a ti okos istentiszteleteteket.

I exhort you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, your reasonable service:

2 És ne szabjátok magatokat e világhoz, hanem változzatok meg értelmetek megújulásával, hogy megítélhessétek, mi az Isten jó, neki tetsző és tökéletes akarata. (aiōn g165)

and he not fashioned after this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (aiōn g165)

3 A nekem adott kegyelem által mondom mindenkinek közöttetek, hogy ne gondoljon magáról többet, mint amit kell, hanem józanon gondolkodjék, amint Isten adta kinek-kinek a hit mértékét.

For I speak, through the grace which has been given unto me, for every one who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, as God has imparted to each one the measure of faith.

4 Mert ahogyan egy testnek sok tagja van, de nem minden tagnak ugyanaz a feladata,

For we indeed have many members in one body, but all the members have not the same office:

5 úgy sokan egy test vagyunk a Krisztusban, egyenként pedig egymásnak tagjai vagyunk.

so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and members one of another.

6 Mivel pedig különböző ajándékaink vannak a nekünk adott kegyelem szerint, így is szolgálunk: ha írásmagyarázás, a hit szabályai szerint teljesítsük;

But having gifts differing according to the grace given unto us, whether prophecy, it is according to the analogy of faith;

7 ha más szolgálat adatott, akkor abban a szolgálatban munkálkodjunk: a tanító a tanításban,

or ministry, it is in the ministry; or he that teacheth, in teaching;

8 az intő az intésben, az adakozó szelídségben, az elöljáró szorgalommal, a könyörülő vidámsággal tegye.

or he that exhorteth, in exhortation; or he that giveth, with a single eye; he that presideth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 A szeretet képmutatás nélkül való legyen. Iszonyodjatok a gonosztól, ragaszkodjatok a jóhoz.

Let love be free from hypocrisy. Abhorring the evil, cleaving to the good:

10 Atyafiúi szeretettel egymás iránt gyöngédek, a tiszteletadásban egymást megelőzők legyetek.

kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

11 Az igyekezetben ne legyetek restek, lélekben buzgók legyetek, az Úrnak szolgáljatok,

not slothful in business; boiling over in spirit; serving the Lord;

12 A reménységben örvendezők, a háborúságban tűrők, a könyörgésben állhatatosak,

rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing steadfastly in prayer;

13 a szentek szükségeire adakozók legyetek, a vendégszeretetet gyakoroljátok.

communicating to necessities of the saints; pursuing hospitality.

14 Áldjátok azokat, akik titeket üldöznek, áldjátok, és ne átkozzátok.

Bless them that persecute you; bless, and scold not.

15 Örüljetek az örülőkkel, és sírjatok a sírókkal.

Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep.

16 Egymással egyetértésben éljetek, ne kevélykedjetek, hanem az alázatosokhoz tartsátok magatokat. Ne legyetek bölcsek önmagatok szemében.

Have the same mind toward one another, not thinking high things, but condescending to the humble. Be not wise in your own conceits.

17 Senkinek gonoszért gonosszal ne fizessetek. A tisztességre gondotok legyen minden ember előtt.

Returning to no one evil for evil; providing things beautiful in the sight of all men.

18 Ha lehetséges, amennyire rajtatok áll, minden emberrel békességben éljetek.

If possible, so far as it is within your power, living in peace with all men;

19 Magatokért bosszút ne álljatok, szeretteim, hanem adjatok helyt az ő haragjának, mert meg van írva: „Enyém az igazságszolgáltatás, én megfizetek! – ezt mondja az Úr.“

avenging not yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it has been written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.

20 Azért, ha éhezik a te ellenséged, adj ennie, ha szomjazik, adj innia, mert ha ezt teszed, parazsat gyűjtesz a fejére.

But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink: for doing this you will heap coals of fire upon his head.

21 Ne győzzön le téged a gonosz, hanem a gonoszt jóval győzd meg.

Be not overcome by the evil, but overcome the evil with the good.
