Zsidókhoz 3
1 Ezért szent atyafiak, a mennyei elhívás részesei, figyeljetek hitvallásunk apostolára és főpapjára, Jézus Krisztusra,
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, attentively consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest whom we have confessed;
2 aki hű ahhoz, aki őt erre rendelte, ahogyan Mózes is az volt az ő házában.
who, as well as Moses, is faithful to him that appointed him over all his house.
3 Ő ugyanis nagyobb dicsőségre volt méltó, mint Mózes, mint ahogy a ház építőjének nagyobb a tisztessége, mint a háznak.
Indeed, he has been accounted worthy of glory, as far superior to Moses, as that of the builder is superior to the house.
4 Mert minden háznak van építője, aki pedig mindent felépített, az Isten az.
Now every house is built by some one; but he, the builder of all things, is God.
5 Mózes is hű volt az ő egész házában, mint szolga, bizonyságául annak, amit hirdetett.
And Moses, indeed, as a servant, was faithful in all his house, for a testimony of the things that were to be spoken by him;
6 Krisztus ellenben, mint Fiú áll a maga háza felett. Az Ő háza mi vagyunk, ha a bizodalmat és a reménység dicsekedését mindvégig szilárdan megtartjuk.
but Christ, as a Son, over his own house--whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence, and the rejoicing of our hope, unshaken to the end.
7 Ezért amint a Szentlélek mondja: „Ma, ha az ő szavát halljátok,
Wherefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "To-day, if you will hear his voice,
8 meg ne keményítsétek szíveteket, mint az elkeseredéskor, a kísértés napján a pusztában,
harden not your hearts, as in the bitter provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness;
9 ahol a ti atyáitok próbára tettek és megkísértettek engem, bár látták cselekedeteimet.
where your fathers tempted me, and proved me, yet saw my works for forty years.
10 Ezért negyven esztendeig haragudtam arra a nemzedékre, és ezt mondtam: mindig tévelyegnek szívükben, nem ismerték meg az én utaimat.
Wherefore, I was displeased with that generation, and said, They always err in heart, and they have not known my ways.
11 Ezért megesküdtem haragomban, hogy nem fognak bemenni az én nyugodalmamba.“
So, I swore, in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest."
12 Vigyázzatok, atyámfiai, hogy ne legyen közületek senkinek sem hitetlen, gonosz szíve, nehogy az élő Istentől elszakadjon,
Brethren, take heed, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, by departing from the living God.
13 hanem intsétek egymást minden napon, míg tart a ma, hogy egyikőtöket se keményítse meg a bűn csalárdsága.
But, lest any of you be hardened, through the deceitfulness of sin, exhort one another every day, while it is called To-day:
14 Mert részeseivé lettünk a Krisztusnak, ha eleitől fogva mind végig szilárdan megtartjuk bizodalmunkat.
(for we are all partakers of Christ, if, indeed, we hold fast this first confidence firm to the end; )
15 Azt mondja ugyanis: „Ma, ha az ő szavát halljátok, meg ne keményítsétek a ti szíveteket, mint az elkeseredéskor.“
with this saying, "To-day, if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the bitter provocation."
16 Kik keseredtek el, amikor ezt hallották? Nem azok, akik Mózes vezetésével kijöttek Egyiptomból?
For some, when they heard, did bitterly provoke; yet, not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 Kikre haragudott negyven esztendeig? Nem azokra, akik vétkeztek, akiknek teste elhullott a pusztában?
Was it not with them who sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?
18 Kiknek esküdött meg, hogy nem mennek be nyugodalmába? Nem azoknak, akik engedetlenek voltak?
And to whom did he swear, that they should not enter into his rest, but to them who did not believe?
19 Látjuk is, hogy nem mehettek be hitetlenségük miatt.
So, we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
