1 A Lélek pedig világosan mondja, hogy az utolsó időkben némelyek elszakadnak a hittől, megtévesztő lelkekre és ördögök tanítására figyelnek
But the Spirit says positively, that in the last times certain ones will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and to the teachings of demons,
2 hazugok képmutatásának hatására, akik meg vannak bélyegezve saját lelkiismeretükben.
speaking lies in hypocrisy, having been cauterized as to their own conscience,
3 Ezek tiltják a házasságot, és tartózkodást követelnek bizonyos ételektől, amelyeket pedig Isten azért teremtett, hogy hálaadással éljenek velük a hívők, és akik megismerték az igazságot.
forbidding to marry, commanding to abstain from meats, which God created for reception with thanksgiving to the faithful and to those perfectly knowing the truth.
4 Mert Isten minden teremtménye jó, ha hálaadással élnek vele,
Because every creature of God is good, and nothing rejected, being received with thanksgiving:
5 mert megszenteli Isten igéje és az imádság.
for it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer.
6 Ha ezeket tanítod az atyafiaknak, Krisztus Jézus jó szolgája leszel, aki a hitnek és igaz tanításnak igéivel táplálkozik, amelyet követtél.
Submitting these things to the brethren, you will be a beautiful minister of Jesus Christ, being nourished by the words of faith, and the beautiful teaching which you have followed;
7 A szentségtelen és vénasszonyos meséket pedig utasítsd el. Gyakorold magad inkább az istenfélelemben.
but reject the unsanctified and silly stories: but exercise yourself unto godliness.
8 A test gyakorlásának kevés a haszna, de az istenfélelem mindenre hasznos, mert megvan benne a jelenvaló és eljövendő életnek ígérete.
For bodily exercise is profitable unto little; but godliness is profitable unto all things, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 Igaz beszéd ez, és méltó, hogy mindenképen elfogadjuk.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation.
10 Azért fáradunk és küzdünk, mert reménységünket az élő Istenbe vetettük, aki minden embernek üdvözítője, kiváltképpen a hívőknek.
For unto this we toil and agonize, because we have hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of the faithful.
11 Ezeket hirdesd és tanítsd!
Command and teach these things.
12 Senki se vessen meg fiatal korod miatt, de légy is a hívőknek példája beszédben, magaviseletben, szeretetben, hitben, tisztaságban.
Let no one look with contempt upon your youth; but be you an example of the faithful, in word, in deportment, in divine love, in faith, in purity.
13 Amíg odaérek, legyen gondod a felolvasásra, az intésre és a tanításra.
Until I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.
14 Ne hanyagold el a benned lévő kegyelmi ajándékot, amelyben prófétai ige és a gyülekezet elöljáróinak kézrátétele által részesültél.
Do not neglect the gift which is in you, which was given unto you through prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Ezekről gondoskodjál, ezekben élj, hogy előrehaladásod nyilvánvalóvá legyen mindenki előtt.
Be diligent in these things; give yourself wholly unto them; in order that your progress may be manifest to all.
16 Legyen gondod önmagadra és a tanításra, maradj meg ezekben, mert ha ezt teszed, megmented mind magadat, mind hallgatóidat.
Take heed to yourself and the teaching: continue in these things; for doing this you will indeed save yourself and those who hear you.
