1 Tesszalonika 1

1 Pál, Szilvánusz és Timóteus a thesszalonikai gyülekezetnek, az Atya Istenben és az Úr Jézus Krisztusban: Kegyelem néktek és békesség Istentől, a mi Atyánktól és az Úr Jézus Krisztustól.

Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.

2 Hálát adunk Istennek mindenkor mindnyájatokért, megemlékezve rólatok imádságunkban.

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention in our prayers;

3 Szüntelenül emlegetjük Isten, a mi Atyánk előtt a ti hitetek munkáját, szereteteteknek fáradozását és a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus felől való reménységeteknek állhatatosságát,

incessantly remembering your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, before God even our Father;

4 tudva, hogy ti, Istentől szeretett atyámfiai, ki vagytok választva.

knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election,

5 A mi evangéliumhirdetésünk nálatok nemcsak szavakban állt, hanem isteni erőkben, Szentlélekben és teljes bizonyosságban. Hiszen tudjátok, hogyan éltünk közöttetek a ti érdeketekben.

because our gospel came not unto you in word only, but in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as you know what sort we were among you for your sakes.

6 Ti pedig a mi követőinkké lettetek és az Úréi, befogadva az igét sokféle szorongattatás között, a Szentlélek örömével.

And you became imitators of us, and the Lord, having received the word in much tribulation, with the joy of the Holy Ghost;

7 Úgyhogy Macedóniában és Akhájában valamennyi hívőnek példaképévé lettetek.

so that you are an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.

8 Mert nemcsak Macedóniába és Akhájába zendült ki tőletek az Úr beszéde, hanem mindenhová híre terjedt a ti Istenbe vetett hiteteknek, úgyhogy szükségtelen is erről beszélnünk.

For from you the word of the Lord echoed out, not only in Macedonia and in Achaia, but in every place your faith which is towards God has gone forth; so that we have no need to say any thing:

9 Hiszen ők maguk mondják el rólunk, hogyan fogadtatok minket, és miként tértetek meg Istenhez a bálványoktól, hogy az élő Istennek szolgáljatok,

for they proclaim concerning what kind of reception we had unto you; and how you turned to God from the idols, to serve the true and the living God,

10 és várjátok az ő Fiát, Jézust a mennyből, akit feltámasztott a halálból, és megszabadít minket az eljövendő haragtól.

and to await his Son out of the heavens, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus the one delivering us from the wrath to come.
